For example, spring should be warm but is cold; summer should be hot but is cool; autumn should be cool but is hot; winter should be cold but is warm. This abnormal Qi injures humans and causes disease, presenting with symptoms such as headache and high fever, generally resembling "Shanghan" (Cold Damage). Regardless of age, the clinical manifestations are roughly the same. Because this pathogenic factor is prevalent at this time, it is called "Shiqi". The world also calls it "Tianxing" (Heavenly Transmission/Contagious Disease).
Regarding the syndrome of jaundice in pediatric "Tianxing" disease in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: When non-seasonal Qi suddenly injures humans during the four seasons, it is called "Tianxing". If heat enters the Spleen and Stomach and stagnates, jaundice develops. The Spleen and Stomach are combined and correspond to Earth in the Five Phases, with the color yellow, manifesting in the muscles. When heat accumulates and stagnates, its color evaporates outward, thus causing jaundice.
Regarding the syndrome of abdominal fullness in pediatric "Shiqi" disease in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: In "Shiqi" disease, abdominal fullness occurs because heat enters the abdomen and struggles with the Zang-Fu Qi, causing Qi obstruction and stagnation internally, leading to abdominal fullness. If the fullness is caused by severe toxin, it indicates that toxic Qi has attacked the Heart; if accompanied by mental restlessness and oppression (Fan'ao), the prognosis is poor and may lead to death.
Regarding the syndrome of "Jiere" (Knotted Heat) in pediatric "Shiqi" disease in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: In "Shiqi" disease, when heat enters the abdomen and knots with the Qi of the Zang-Fu organs, it is called "Jiere". Heat causes obstruction in the Large and Small Intestines, resulting in difficulty in defecation and urination, along with bitter distress and mental heat.
Regarding the syndrome of deteriorated "Shiqi" disease in pediatric cases in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: In "Shiqi" disease, if treatment is delayed or administered too early, or if the medication does not match the pathology, the disease becomes prolonged and unceasing. It fluctuates between remission and exacerbation, alternating between cold and heat. These unpredictable, deteriorating manifestations constitute a deteriorated syndrome.
Regarding the syndrome of "Shiqi" disease complicated by malaria in pediatric cases in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: When "Shiqi" disease is complicated by malaria, it is because the number of days in the illness cycle is incomplete. Originally, there was persistent high fever, but the pathogen did not retreat. The pathogen may attack the Yin aspect or the Yang aspect. When attacking Yang, Yang struggles and causes heat; when attacking Yin, Yin struggles and causes cold. The Yin and Yang Qi are overwhelmed by the pathogen and struggle against each other, resulting in alternating chills and fever, forming malaria.
Regarding the syndrome of persistent fever after emesis and purgation in pediatric "Shiqi" disease in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: In "Shiqi" disease, if high fever persists after emesis or purgation, it is because the intestines and stomach were originally deficient, and further damage from vomiting and diarrhea leads to severe deficiency. Heat enters deeply due to this deficiency, causing heat in both the exterior and interior. The heat stagnates and does not cease; therefore, even after emesis and purgation, the fever remains.
Regarding the syndrome of anorexia and cyanotic complexion after illness in pediatric cases in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: After the heat of "Shiqi" disease subsides, if the child loses appetite and has a cyanotic complexion, it is because residual heat in the Stomach has not fully cleared, causing Qi distension and anorexia. All Yang meridians ascend to nourish the face. If Yang Qi is deficient and has not recovered, and wind pathogen was present initially, the wind pathogen carries cold. Cold struggles with Blood and Qi, causing the cyanotic complexion.
Regarding the syndrome of recurrence in pediatric "Shiqi" disease in *Chaoshi Bingyuan*: Recurrence of "Shiqi" disease occurs because after the heat subsides, the Qi and Blood are not yet harmonized, and the heat trend in the Zang-Fu organs has not completely cleared. If the child engages in labor too early or eats irregularly, the disease re-emerges, which is called "Fu" (Recurrence). However, recurrences are often more severe than the initial illness because the Qi and Blood are already deficient and suffer secondary injury.

Song on Pediatric Shiqi:
Shiqi arises from seasonal imbalance, with headache, high fever, and slight sweating. A skilled physician observing the signs should treat it as Shanghan (Cold Damage).
Song on Pediatric Shiqi followed by urinary and fecal retention:
Heat toxin rushes through the Fu organ Qi, forming knotted heat in the intestines. The body suffers from distress, heat, restlessness, and thirst, compounded by the inability to pass stool and urine.
Song on Shiqi deteriorating into Baiqi (Deteriorated Qi):
Shiqi must be treated early to avoid becoming Baiqi. Chills and fever occur without regularity; the body gradually emaciates and weakens.
Song on Pediatric Shiqi with restlessness and thirst:
Who says heat is exhausted after emesis and purgation? It is merely because the root cause is Zang-Fu deficiency. Excessive heat further dries the skin and flesh; today, distress, thirst, and restlessness remain difficult to eliminate.
Song on Pediatric Shiqi turning into malaria:
Yin and Yang pathogenic factors merge, and the forces of Zang-Fu Yin and Yang compete. With periodic onset, it is named malaria; one must treat it promptly without delay.
Song on residual heat and mixed cold Qi after Shiqi:
Although Shiqi has healed, residual heat lingers. Qi blockage causes loss of appetite; mixed cold causes the facial skin to turn blue.

Song on the 36 types of internal plague syndromes with night fever and daytime coolness:
At night, the whole body feels like boiling water; by dawn, it returns to coolness. This is not the work of ghosts or spirits, but rather wind injury to the Zang-Fu organs. Simply use medicine to treat the Spleen organ (The 48 Syndromes Song states: only clear Spleen heat with medicine), then use a divine formula to purge the Large Intestine. Observe the swelling/movement of the tonsils (throat adenoids); check if the eyes are red (The 48 Syndromes Song states: red eyes) and the nose tip is shiny. This disease has transmitted into a plague syndrome; if one can distinguish it, they are a medical king.
This is caused by internal injury from food/stagnation and external injury from pathogens. First, disperse the toxic pathogen; second, use medicine to remove accumulation. It also treats excessive sweating at night, localized to the forehead, accompanied by rattling saliva in the mouth, which is characteristic of Spleen Wind. Speaking excessively about disasters/spirits is incorrect. Please review the preceding and following texts carefully. (The *Fengsui Jing* has the same song for this syndrome, noting: suitable to administer Qibao San formula. See Wen Zhuang section.)
After the song on the 48 syndromes of night fever and daytime coolness in *Xiao'er Xingzheng Lun*, it states: This condition arises from cold food stagnating in the Spleen and Stomach after hunger, causing Qi to fail to circulate through the meridians. For night fever and daytime coolness, first administer Nansheng Wan (formula seen in Shanghan Bianzheng section) three to five doses, then administer Binglang San (formula seen in Fanre section) alternately. Then the Qi will harmonize. One should then administer Baoding Gao (formula not seen) to resolve it, or simply use Moji Fang to regulate Qi. Do not immediately use strong purgatives, as movement is hard to stop, leading to abdominal distension, fearing the formation of Gan disease (infantile malnutrition).
