The *Shenghui Fang* discusses: Infantile *gan qi* (accumulation disorder) arises from irregular diet and excessive intake of cold and raw foods, which clash with the Qi of the internal organs, leading to condensation and accumulation. The clinical presentation involves cord-like hard masses appearing above and below on both sides of the umbilicus and hypochondrium; these masses may be as large as an arm or as small as a finger, protruding and accompanied by acute pain, hence the name *gan qi*.
Master Mao states: Between five months and seven years of age, infants and children may develop abdominal accumulations (*ji*) forming lumps, varying in size from a plum pit to an egg. If accompanied by constant crying and pain, it is classified into several types. Pain located under the left hypochondrium indicates *gan qi*, which can be cured by administering Peng'e Zhu San (Curcuma Longa Powder) combined with Jian Pi San (Spleen-Strengthening Powder). However, if the child presents with a dark complexion, dull eyes, passage of black blood in stool, coldness of the nose and mouth, cold extremities, and inability to eat, the prognosis is fatal.
