[Appendix on Huodan]

*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* regarding the syndrome of pediatric Danhuo: The appearance of Danhuo involves skin turning crimson like a fire burn, with blisters arising within moments.
*Yingru Shu* states: Huodan manifests intermittently with redness on the body similar to Taiyang disease; it is not named after injury by fire. Its redness resembles the sunrise, hence it is also called Ridan (Sun Dan). It is appropriate to jointly use Loulu Tang (Ludang Root Decoction) from *Qianjin Fang*. This formula treats pediatric heat-toxin carbuncles and sores, as well as Chi Bai Zhudan sores and boils. (The prescription for Loulu Tang is found in the Carbuncle section.)
*Qianjin Fang* treats pediatric Huodan where the skin is crimson like cinnabar and moves within the dermis.
Take fermented soybeans (Chidou), grind them with vinegar, and apply externally.
Another prescription from *Qianjin Fang*:
Apply blood from a common carp (Cyprinus carpio) externally; it is effective.
Another prescription from *Qianjin Fang*:

Prescription for treating Huodan sores from *Xianren Shuijian*:
Buckwheat flour (Fagopyri Esculenti Semen) and Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian) (each in small amounts).
Grind these together into a fine powder and apply topically for immediate recovery. Strictly avoid adding oil or salt.
*Guangli Fang* records: In pediatric Huodan, if the heat wraps around the waist like fire, it causes damage.
Pound fresh Portulaca oleracea (Machixiancai) and apply externally twice daily.
*Yingru Shu* treats pediatric Huodan moving within the skin causing redness.

Take two sheng of Vigna angularis (Xiaodou/Adzuki bean), grind into powder, mix with egg white (Jizi Bai), and apply as a compress. If covering the whole body, apply thoroughly over the entire surface.
