《黄帝素问》奇病论∶帝曰∶人生有病癫疾者，病名谓何？安所得之？歧伯曰∶病名为胎病。此得之在母腹
中，时母有所大惊，气上而不下，精气并居，故令子发为癫也。
《巢氏病源》∶痫者，小儿病也。十岁以上为癫，十岁以下为痫。其发之状，或口眼相引而目睛上摇，或
手足掣 ，或背脊强直，或颈项反折。诸方说痫，名证不同，大体其发之源皆因三种。三种者，风痫、惊痫、
食痫是也。
《圣惠》论∶夫小儿癫痫者，由风邪、热毒伤于手少阴之经故也。心为帝王，神之所舍，其脏坚固不受外邪。
若风热蕴积于心，则令恍惚不安，精神离散，荣卫气乱，阴阳相并，故发癫痫也。又云∶小儿在胎之时，其母
卒有大惊，精气并居，则令子癫痫也。
张涣论∶小儿五、七岁至十岁以上发痫者，若精神恍惚不定，阴阳相干，霍乱之类，病乃名癫疾。
《颅囟经》治孩子从一岁至大，癫发无时，口出白沫，小便淋沥不利，二十二味虎睛丸

《外台》∶《古今录验》疗五癫。牛癫则牛鸣，马癫则马嘶，狗癫则狗吠，羊癫则羊鸣，鸡癫则鸡鸣。五癫病者，
腑脏相引，盈气起寒，厥不识人，气急掣 ，吐沫，久而得苏。雄黄丸方（《千金》名雄雌丸）

以上三味同捣，罗为末。

上件药都研细，入前三味研令匀。每服以温水调下半钱。更看儿大小加减。

上先将铅于铛子中令消，即下硫黄，炒不住手，就铛研搅；待硫黄烟气似息，入水银又搅；次下铁粉，以
武火烧，少时将出。一夜露地出火毒后，研令极细，即以粟米饭和丸如绿豆大。每于食后，以金银汤下五丸。
量儿大小以意加减。
《圣惠》治小儿癫痫等疾方。
光明朱砂（二两，颗块者）
上以金箔随朱砂颗块大小各裹之，用磁石末入固济了瓶子中，实筑中心留一坑子，即以朱砂置坑子内，上
更以磁石末覆之瓶子口，更以铅一片可瓶口大小盖之。以文火养七日，火常令露铅以箸刺得入。养一七日后，
去铅，大火 之，候冷出，于乳钵中细研，即置于通油钵子内；上以马牙硝末遍覆之，即置饭甑中，蒸一炊
久，其朱砂化成水。有患者，食后以温水调下半钱。量儿大小以意加减服之。
《圣惠》治小儿癫痫，欲发即精神不足，眼目不明，螈 恶声，嚼舌吐沫。雌雄丸方
雌黄（细研，炒令褐色） 黄丹（炒令褐色。各一两） 麝香（一分）
上件药相和，细研如粉。用牛乳一升，慢火熬成膏，可丸即丸如绿豆大。每服以温水下三丸，日三服。量
儿大小，以意加减服之。
《圣惠》治小儿癫痫，发歇不定。朱砂丸方

张涣熊胆丹方 治癫痫，镇心安神。
真熊胆 铁粉（各细研） 朱砂（细研，水飞） 生天南星（末） 雄黄（水磨精明者，别研。各半两） 粉霜（一
分，研） 脑麝（各研一钱）
上件同拌匀，用 猪胆一枚，取汁和诸药，丸如黍米大。每服十粒至二十粒，煎金银薄荷汤下。
张涣天麻散方 祛风，治癫痫。
天麻 防风 麻黄（去节根。各一分） 甘草（炙） 川升麻 羌活 黄芩 川大黄（炮。各半两）
上件捣，罗为末。每服一钱，水一盏，煎至五分，去滓，放温服。
张涣黑锡丹方 治癫痫及诸痫，胞络涎盛。
黑锡（二两，同水银半两慢火结砂子） 铅霜 铁粉（各细研，半两） 麝香（一分，细研） 天南星（一两，炮，
取末）
上件同再研匀，滴水和如黍米大。每服十粒，煎竹叶汤下。
张涣日应丹方 治癫痫连年不瘥。
黑锡 硫黄 水银（细研） 铁粉（研。各一两） 金银箔（各三十片）
上件将锡于铛子内熔令消，即入硫黄，炒不住手，就铛研搅；候硫黄烟气似息，次入水银、铁粉、金银箔
同搅。用紧火烧，少时都倾出，露地一宿，出火毒；再研和匀，用粟米饭和如绿豆大。每于食后，服五粒至
七粒，煎人参汤下。量儿大小加减。
《黄帝素问·奇病论》：黄帝问道：人生了癫疾这种病，它的病名叫什么？是怎么得来的呢？岐伯回答说：这种病叫做胎病。这是在母亲腹中时形成的，当时母亲受到极大的惊吓，导致气机上逆而不能下行，精气并聚在一起，所以使孩子出生后发作癫疾。
《诸病源候论》：痫病，是小儿的疾病。十岁以上的称为癫，十岁以下的称为痫。其发作时的症状，有的口眼歪斜牵引且眼球上翻，有的手足抽搐，有的背脊强直，有的颈项向后反折。各方书对痫病的名称和证候说法不同，但大体上其发病根源都归结为三种。这三种就是风痫、惊痫、食痫。
《太平圣惠方》论述：小儿癫痫，是由于风邪、热毒损伤手少阴心经的缘故。心为君主之官，是神志居住的地方，其脏气坚固不易受外邪侵袭。如果风热蕴结在心，就会导致心神恍惚不安，精神离散，营卫之气紊乱，阴阳相互搏结，从而引发癫痫。又说：小儿在母胎之时，如果母亲突然受到极大惊吓，精气并聚，就会使孩子患上癫痫。
张涣论述：小儿在五、七岁至十岁以上发作痫病，如果精神恍惚不定，阴阳相互干扰，类似霍乱的症状，这种病就称为癫疾。
《颅囟经》治疗孩子从一岁到长大，癫痫发作没有定时，口吐白沫，小便淋漓不畅的方剂——二十二味虎睛丸：
虎睛（一双，左眼为佳，晒干，用酒浸泡至变黄） 真珠 蜂房（各三钱） 麻黄（二分，去节） 钩藤（三分） 铁精 防葵 大黄 子芩 龙齿 银屑 栀子仁 羌活（各四分） 柴胡 升麻 白藓皮 雷丸（烧至通红） 人参（各三分） 细辛（一分半） 蛇皮（五寸，炙烤） 石膏（五分） 蚱蝉（四枚，去翅足，炙烤）
以上药物研成末，再研磨均匀，用炼蜜制成丸药。四、五岁的儿童每次服五丸，大小如赤豆，每日两次服用。大一点的儿童服十丸，用米汤送下。忌食生冷、油腻食物。
《外台秘要》引《古今录验》治疗五种癫病：牛癫则发出牛叫声，马癫则发出马嘶鸣声，狗癫则发出狗吠声，羊癫则发出羊叫声，鸡癫则发出鸡鸣声。这五种癫病患者，脏腑相互牵引，胸中充满寒气而起，四肢厥冷不识人，气息急促，手足抽搐，口吐白沫，很久才能苏醒。雄黄丸方（《千金方》名为雄雌丸）：
雄黄（研碎） 雌黄（一方无此药，一方用一两） 真珠（研末） 水银（各一两，熬制。《千金方》水银用八分） 铅丹（二两，熬成屑。《千金方》这一味是铅） 丹砂（半两，研碎。《千金方》用二两）
以上六味药捣碎，混合蜂蜜再次捣三万次，制成丸药。饭前服用，大小如胡豆的三丸，每日两次，惊痫也能治愈，效果很好。（《千金方》、《范汪方》相同，儿童服三丸如小豆大小。忌食生肉、血制品。）
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿心脏积热，时常发作癫痫，呕吐涎沫，发声迷闷的方剂——铁粉丸方：
铁粉 龙齿（各细研，一两） 铅霜 麝香（各细研） 天南星（各一分） 天麻（三分） 朱砂（细研，水飞法处理） 水银 黑铅（各半两，与水银结合成砂子，细研）
以上药物捣碎，过筛成末，一起研磨均匀。用炼蜜调和制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用，用竹沥化开五丸服用。根据患儿年龄大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫，发作没有定时，心中烦闷吐白沫的方剂——雄黄丸方：
雄黄 铁粉（各细研） 朱砂（细研，水飞法处理。各半两） 猪胆（二枚） 熊胆（一分） 鲤鱼胆（七枚） 乌牛胆（半枚） 青羊胆（二枚） 麝（一钱，细研）
以上将各种胆汁混合均匀，然后加入诸药末，调和制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用用金银汤送下五丸。根据患儿年龄大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿五岁至七岁发作癫痫，没有定时发作，口吐白沫，大小便失禁不知觉的方剂——虎睛丸方：

以上药物捣碎，过筛成末，用炼蜜调和，捣三、二百次，制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用用米粥饮送下五丸。根据患儿年龄大小调整剂量服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫，抽搐，发作没有定时的方剂——地龙散方：
干地龙（半两，微炒） 虎睛（一对，微炙） 人参（一分，去芦头）
以上三味药一同捣碎，过筛成末。
金银箔（各三十片） 朱砂 雄黄 天竺黄 代赭石 铅霜 铁粉（各一分）
以上药物都研细，加入前三味药一起研磨均匀。每次服用用温水调服半钱。再看患儿年龄大小进行加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫直到长大未愈，或者发作时口吐白沫，大小便失禁不知的方剂——虎睛丸方：

《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫，连年不愈的方剂：
铅 水银（各二两） 硫黄 铁粉（各一两）
先将铅在锅铛中熔化，随即放入硫黄，不停翻炒，就在锅中研磨搅拌；待硫黄的烟气似乎停止时，放入水银又搅拌；接着放入铁粉，用猛火烧烤，稍后将药取出。在露天放置一夜以去除火毒后，研磨至极细，即用粟米饭调和制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次饭后，用金银汤送下五丸。根据患儿年龄大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫等疾病的方剂：
光明朱砂（二两，块状者）
用金箔随朱砂块的大小分别包裹它，用磁石末封固瓶子，实筑瓶中心留一个坑，即将朱砂放入坑内，上面再用磁石末覆盖瓶口，更用一片铅盖住瓶口（大小合适）。用文火养护七日，火常令铅片露出以便筷子能刺入。养护七个日夜后，去掉铅片，用大火煅烧，待冷却取出，在乳钵中细研，即置于通油钵子内；上面用马牙硝末全面覆盖，即置于饭甑中，蒸一顿饭的时间，朱砂化成水。患者饭后用温水调服半钱。根据患儿年龄大小酌情加减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫，欲发作时精神不足，眼目不明，抽搐，厌恶声音，咬舌吐白沫的方剂——雌雄丸方：
雌黄（细研，炒至褐色） 黄丹（炒至褐色。各一两） 麝香（一分）
以上药物混合，细研如粉。用牛乳一升，慢火熬成膏，可丸时制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用用温水送下三丸，每日三次。根据患儿年龄大小，酌情加减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿癫痫，发作停止不定的方剂——朱砂丸方：
朱砂（细研，水飞法处理） 铅霜 铁粉 马牙硝（各一两）
以上药物细研如面粉状，用枣肉调和制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次饭后，用熟水送下三丸。根据患儿年龄大小酌情加减。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿一、二岁发作痫病，直到长大未愈，成为癫病，发作没有定时，口吐白沫，大小便失禁不知的方剂——虎睛丸方：
虎睛（一具，酒浸泡一夜，炙黄） 丹砂 铁粉（精制） 子芩 大黄 龙齿 栀子仁 银屑（各四分） 蜂房（炙烤） 钩藤皮 柴胡 白藓皮 麻黄（去节） 雷丸（炙烤。各二分） 羌活 沙参 升麻（各三分） 牛黄（半分） 蚱蝉（四枚，去翅足，自然死亡的） 防葵 蛇蜕皮（各七分，炙烤） 细辛（一分半） 石膏（五分）
以上研成末，蜜丸。四、五岁服用大豆大小十丸。与《颅囟经》的药味相同，只是多了牛黄且分量不同。
张涣熊胆丹方 治疗癫痫，镇心安神：
真熊胆 铁粉（各细研） 朱砂（细研，水飞法处理） 生天南星（研末） 雄黄（水磨取精明者，另研。各半两） 粉霜（一分，研） 脑麝（各研一钱）
以上药物拌匀，用猪胆一枚，取汁调和诸药，制成如黍米大小的丸药。每次服用十粒至二十粒，煎金银薄荷汤送下。
张涣天麻散方 祛风，治疗癫痫：
天麻 防风 麻黄（去节根。各一分） 甘草（炙烤） 川升麻 羌活 黄芩 川大黄（炮制。各半两）
以上药物捣碎，过筛成末。每次服用一钱，用水一盏，煎至五分，去渣，放温服用。
张涣黑锡丹方 治疗癫痫及各类痫病，胞络痰涎盛：
黑锡（二两，同水银半两慢火结成砂子） 铅霜 铁粉（各细研，半两） 麝香（一分，细研） 天南星（一两，炮制，取末）
以上药物再次研磨均匀，滴水调和如黍米大小。每次服用十粒，煎竹叶汤送下。
张涣日应丹方 治疗癫痫连年不愈：
黑锡 硫黄 水银（细研） 铁粉（研。各一两） 金银箔（各三十片）
以上将锡在锅铛内熔化，随即放入硫黄，不停翻炒，就在锅中研磨搅拌；待硫黄的烟气似乎停止时，依次放入水银、铁粉、金银箔一同搅拌。用紧火烧，稍时将全部药料倾出，在露天放置一夜以去除火毒；再次研磨和匀，用粟米饭调和如绿豆大小。每次饭后，服用五粒至七粒，煎人参汤送下。根据患儿年龄大小调整剂量。
*Huangdi Suswen* (Yellow Emperor's Plain Questions), Chapter on Rare Diseases: The Yellow Emperor asked, "When a person suffers from epilepsy (dianji, 癫疾), what is the name of this disease? How is it acquired?" Qibo replied, "This disease is called 'fetal disease' (taibing, 胎病). It originates in the womb. At that time, the mother experienced a great fright, causing Qi to ascend but not descend, and Essence and Qi gathered together, thus causing the child to develop epilepsy."
*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Source Book of All Diseases and Symptoms): Epilepsy (xianbing, 痫病) is a disease of children. Those over ten years old are diagnosed with dian (癫), and those under ten years old are diagnosed with xian (痫). During an attack, symptoms may include deviation of the mouth and eyes with upward rolling of the eyeballs, twitching or convulsions of the hands and feet, stiffness of the back, or opisthotonos (neck bending backward). Various texts describe different names and syndromes for epilepsy, but generally, the root cause falls into three categories: wind epilepsy (fengxian, 风痫), fright epilepsy (jingxian, 惊痫), and food epilepsy (shixian, 食痫).
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* (Taiping Holy Benefit Formulary) discusses: Pediatric epilepsy arises because wind pathogens and heat toxins injure the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian. The Heart is the sovereign organ, the residence of the Spirit (Shen, 神), and its viscera are solid and resistant to external pathogens. If wind-heat accumulates in the Heart, it causes mental confusion and restlessness, dispersion of spirit, disorder of Ying and Wei Qi, and conflict between Yin and Yang, thereby triggering epilepsy. It also states: If the mother suffers a sudden great fright while the child is in the womb, the gathering of Essence and Qi will cause the child to develop epilepsy.
Zhang Huan discusses: When children aged five to seven up to over ten develop epilepsy, if they exhibit mental confusion and instability, with interference between Yin and Yang resembling cholera-like symptoms, this disease is named dian (癫).
*Luxin Jing* (Classic of the Cranial Fontanelle) treats epilepsy in children from one year old to adulthood, which occurs at any time, accompanied by foaming at the mouth and dribbling or difficult urination, with the Twenty-Two Tiger Eye Pill (Ershierwei Huqing Wan, 二十二味虎睛丸):

Grind all ingredients into powder, mix thoroughly, and form pills with refined honey. For children aged four or five, administer five pills the size of a red bean, twice daily. For older children, administer ten pills with rice water. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods.
*Waitai Miyao* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold for Emergencies) cites *Gujin Luyan* to treat five types of epilepsy: Cow epilepsy barks like a cow, horse epilepsy neighs like a horse, dog epilepsy barks like a dog, sheep epilepsy bleats like a sheep, chicken epilepsy crows like a chicken. In these five types of epilepsy, the zang-fu organs influence each other, excessive Qi rises causing coldness, loss of consciousness, rapid breathing, convulsions, and foaming at the mouth; recovery takes a long time. Bright Cinnabar (Guangming Zhusha, 光明朱砂) (2 liang, in lumps)
Wrap each lump of cinnabar with gold foil according to its size. Place magnetite powder in a bottle to seal it firmly, compact the center leaving a depression, place the cinnabar in the depression, cover the bottle mouth with more magnetite powder, and cap with a piece of lead fitting the mouth size. Nourish with gentle heat for seven days, ensuring the lead remains exposed enough for chopsticks to pierce it. After seven days, remove the lead, apply intense heat, cool, and grind finely in a mortar. Place in an oil-permeable mortar, cover completely with sodium nitrate (Mayaciming, 马牙硝) powder, and steam in a rice steamer for the duration of cooking a meal until the cinnabar liquefies. Patients take half a qian mixed with warm water after meals. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.
