《圣惠》论∶夫小儿热痫者，由气血不和，内有积热之所致也。凡小儿骨木轻软，肠胃细微，易为伤动。若
乳食不常，脏腑壅滞，蕴搐生热，不得宣通，热极甚者则发痫也。其状口眼相牵，手足抽掣，口中吐沫，鼻
里作声，颈项反张，腰背强直，身体壮热，或叫或啼者，是热痫之候也。
张涣论∶小儿心神多不宁，将养过温，内生邪热，所以多惊，甚者变成诸痫，宜服退痫除热之药。
《外台》疗未盈月儿及出月儿壮热发痫。钩藤汤方
钩藤（一分） 蚱蝉（一枚，去翅，熬，为末，汤成下） 柴胡 升麻 黄芩 甘草（炙） 大黄（各二分） 蛇
蜕皮（二寸，炙） 竹沥（三合） 石膏（三分，研）
上十味切，以水一升，煮三合半，和竹沥服一合，得利，见汤色出，停后服。至五六十日儿，一服一合。
乳母忌海藻、菘菜等。崔氏云∶若连发不醒，加麻黄一分，去节。
《圣惠》治小儿风壅气盛，心胸痰滞，壮热发痫。钩藤散方

上件药捣，粗罗为散。每服一钱，以水一小盏，煎至五分，去滓。量儿大小分减温服。
《圣惠》治小儿百日已来至三、四岁发热痫螈 ，身体如火。宜服白藓皮散方

《圣惠》治小儿热痫，发歇不定，眼目直视，身体壮热，吐沫，心神迷闷。牛黄丸方

三钱） 金银箔（各十五片，细研）
上件药捣，罗为末，入研了药，同研令匀，炼蜜和，捣三二百杵，丸如绿豆大。每服，以竹沥汤研五丸服
之。量儿大小以意加减。
《圣惠》治小儿热痫，摇头吐舌，四肢抽掣，心神惊悸。虎睛丸方
虎睛（一对，酒浸，微炙用） 牛黄（细研） 人参（去芦头） 钩藤 茯神（各半两） 麝香（一分，细研） 犀
角屑（三分） 川大黄（锉，微炒） 朱砂（细研，水飞过。各一两）
上件药捣，罗为末，入研了药，同研令匀，炼蜜和丸如绿豆大。一岁儿，以金银汤研化一丸服之，日三
服；儿稍大，加丸数服之。
《婴孺》治少小惊痫，除热。二味丹参摩膏方
丹参 雷丸（各二两）
上煎猪脂并药，七上七下，去滓，摩身上，日再三摩之。
《婴孺》治少小百二十痫。止惊，常服除热疾。芍药丸方
芍药 石膏 当归 铁粉（各三分） 蚱蝉（四个，自死者） 大黄 人参（各五分） 桂心（二分半） 银屑 芎
龙骨 细辛 黄芩（各二分） 牛黄（三铢）
上为末，蜜丸麻子大。一服二丸，日三。如不知，稍增，可至四、五丸。
《婴孺》治少小痫病，热多者方。
壮荆根（十五斤，细锉，洗净） 生铁（一大半，碎） 黑豆（一大斤半，布袋盛） 甘草（一大两，碎）
上件药以水五大斗，煎取一斗半，去滓，澄清、滤，煎如饧。每食，上取一匙和桑谷汤及酒服之，日再服。
重者，一月永瘥。
张涣蝉壳散方 治诸痫挟热。
蝉壳 人参（去芦头。各半两） 黄芩 茯神 川升麻（各一分）
以上捣，罗为细末。次用∶牛黄（一分，研） 天竺黄（研） 牡蛎粉（研。各一钱）
上件同细研匀。每服半钱，煎荆芥薄荷汤调下。
张涣犀角汤方 退痫，镇心神。
犀角屑（一两） 茯苓（细锉） 麦门冬（去心，焙干） 人参（去芦头） 甘草（炙） 黄芩（各半两）
上件捣，罗为细末。每服一钱，水八分，入生地黄汁少许，同煎四分，去滓，温服。
《太平圣惠方》论述：所谓小儿热痫，是由于气血不和，体内积聚热邪所致。凡是小儿骨骼柔弱，肠胃娇嫩，容易受到损伤扰动。如果乳食不规律，导致脏腑气机壅滞，郁结抽搐而生热，无法宣散通畅，热势极盛时就会引发痫病。其症状表现为口眼歪斜牵引，手足抽搐掣动，口中吐沫，鼻中发出声响，颈项强直后仰，腰背僵硬挺直，身体高热，或叫喊或啼哭的，这就是热痫的证候。
张涣论述：小儿心神大多不宁静，若养育过暖，内生邪热，所以容易受惊，严重时演变为各种痫病，适宜服用退痫除热的药物。
《外台秘要》治疗未满月婴儿及初生婴儿高热发痫。钩藤汤方
钩藤（一分） 蚱蝉（一枚，去翅，炒制，药成时加入） 柴胡 升麻 黄芩 甘草（炙） 大黄（各二分） 蛇蜕皮（二寸，炙） 竹沥（三合） 石膏（三分，研细）
以上十味药切碎，用水一升，煮取三合半，兑入竹沥服一合，若大便通利，见到药渣排出，则停止后续服药。至五六十日大的婴儿，每次服一合。乳母忌食海藻、白菜等食物。崔氏说：若连续发作不醒，加麻黄一分，去节。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿风痰壅盛，心胸痰滞，高热发痫。钩藤散方

茯神 川升麻 钩藤 甘草（炙，锉碎，微赤） 犀角屑（各三分） 白鲜皮 羚羊角（屑。各半两） 石膏（二两） 龙齿（一两） 蚱蝉（三枚，微炒，去翅足）
以上药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣。根据患儿大小减量温服。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿百日以来至三、四岁发热痫抽搐，身体如火热。宜服用白鲜皮散方
白鲜皮 黄芩 川升麻 地骨皮 钩藤 犀角屑 胡黄连（各三分） 麦门冬（去心，焙干） 龙齿（各一两） 甘草（一分，炙微赤，锉碎）
以上药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一升，煎至五分，去药渣，加入牛黄末一字量。根据患儿大小减量温服。
子芩 人参（去芦头） 犀角屑 甘草（炙微赤，锉碎） 钩藤（各半两） 赤茯苓 川升麻（各三分）
以上药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服一钱，水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣。根据患儿大小减量服用。
钩藤（三分） 蚱蝉（二枚，微炒，去翅足） 人参（去芦头） 子芩 牛黄（细研，留少许最后加入） 川大黄（锉碎，微炒。各半两）
以上药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣，加入牛黄一字量。根据患儿大小减量温服。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿体热、呕吐、发痫。麦门冬散方
麦门冬（一两，去心，焙干） 钩藤（半两） 黄芩 赤芍药 川升麻 茯神 川大黄（锉碎，微炒。各三分）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣，温服。再根据患儿大小加减服用。
犀角屑 钩藤 玄参 蚱蝉（微炒，去翅足） 甘草（炙微赤，锉碎） 川升麻 黄芩 栀子仁（各半两） 麦门冬（一两，去心，焙干）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一小盏，放入苦竹叶七片，煎至五分，去药渣，温服。再根据患儿大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿热痫，昏迷不省人事，迷闷，咬舌瞪眼。栀子散方
栀子仁（半两） 子芩 钩藤 吴蓝（各一两） 龙齿 石膏（各二两） 川大黄（三两，锉碎，微炒）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为散剂。每次服一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣，温服。再根据患儿大小酌情加减。
川升麻 钩藤 使君子 子芩 朴硝（各一两） 石膏 龙齿（各二两。《婴孺方》各用四钱） 柴胡（去苗） 赤芍药 川大黄（锉碎，微炒。各三分。《婴孺方》用大黄八分，另捣，待汤成时混合服用）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为散剂。每次服一钱，水一小盏，煎至五分，去药渣，温服。再根据患儿大小加减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿热痫，四肢抽搐，每日发作数次，宜服用此方除热镇心。紫石英散方
紫石英 石膏（各细研，水飞） 滑石 白石脂 寒水石（各一两） 川大黄（锉碎，微炒） 朱砂（细研，水飞） 甘草（炙微赤，锉碎） 犀角屑（各半两） 龙齿（二两，细研） 牡蛎粉（一分）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为散剂。每次用温薄荷汤调服半钱。根据患儿大小加减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿热痫，发作间歇不定，眼睛直视，身体高热，吐沫，心神迷闷。牛黄丸方
牛黄（半两，研细） 蚱蝉（三枚，微炒，去翅足） 石膏（细研，水飞） 龙齿（细研。各二两） 栀子仁 川升麻 犀角屑 胡黄连 钩藤 龙胆（去芦头） 川大黄（锉碎，微炒） 杏仁（汤浸，去皮尖、双仁，麸炒微黄。各三钱） 金银箔（各十五片，细研）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为末，加入已研好的药，共同研磨均匀，用炼蜜调和，捣三二百杵，制成如绿豆大的丸剂。每次用竹沥汤送服五丸。根据患儿大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿热痫，摇头吐舌，四肢抽搐，心神惊悸。虎睛丸方
虎睛（一对，酒浸，微炙用） 牛黄（细研） 人参（去芦头） 钩藤 茯神（各半两） 麝香（一分，细研） 犀角屑（三分） 川大黄（锉，微炒） 朱砂（细研，水飞。各一两）
以上药物捣碎，过筛为末，加入已研好的药，共同研磨均匀，用炼蜜和丸如绿豆大。一岁婴儿，用金银汤化开一丸服用，每日三次；稍大的儿童，增加丸数服用。
以上药物与猪脂一起煎煮，反复升降七次，去药渣，涂抹于身上，每日多次涂抹。
《婴孺方》治疗婴幼儿一百二十种痫病。止惊，常服除热疾。芍药丸方
芍药 石膏 当归 铁粉（各三分） 蚱蝉（四个，自死者） 大黄 人参（各五分） 桂心（二分半） 银屑 芎藭 龙骨 细辛 黄芩（各二分） 牛黄（三铢）
以上为末，蜜丸如麻子大。每次服二丸，每日三次。若无效，稍增加剂量，可达四、五丸。
《婴孺方》治疗婴幼儿痫病，热多者方。
壮荆根（十五斤，细锉，洗净） 生铁（一大半，碎） 黑豆（一大斤半，布袋盛） 甘草（一大两，碎）
以上药物用水五大斗，煎取一斗半，去药渣，澄清过滤，煎至如饴糖状。每餐前取一匙，配合桑谷汤及酒服用，每日两次。重症者，一个月可彻底痊愈。
以上捣碎，过筛为细末。另外准备：牛黄（一分，研细） 天竺黄（研细） 牡蛎粉（研细。各一钱）
犀角屑（一两） 茯苓（细锉） 麦门冬（去心，焙干） 人参（去芦头） 甘草（炙） 黄芩（各半两）
以上捣碎，过筛为细末。每次服一钱，水八分，加入少许生地黄汁，同煎至四分，去药渣，温服。
(Also known as Tuixian Chu Re Decoction)
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* discusses: The so-called pediatric heat epilepsy (Re Xian, epilepsy caused by heat pathogen) in children arises from disharmony of Qi and Blood, with accumulated internal heat. Children's bones are soft and fragile, their intestines and stomachs are delicate, making them susceptible to injury and disturbance. If breastfeeding or feeding is irregular, it leads to stagnation in the Zang-Fu organs, where constraint and convulsions generate heat that cannot be dispersed and unblocked; when the heat becomes extreme, epilepsy manifests. Its symptoms include pulling of the mouth and eyes, twitching and jerking of the hands and feet, foaming at the mouth, sounds from the nose, retrocollis (stiff neck), rigidity of the waist and back, high fever of the body, and either shouting or crying. These constitute the signs of heat epilepsy.
Zhang Huan discusses: Children's Heart Spirit (Xin Shen) is often unsettled. If nurtured too warmly, internal evil heat is generated, leading to frequent fright; in severe cases, this transforms into various forms of epilepsy. It is appropriate to administer herbs that eliminate epilepsy and clear heat.
*Waitai Miyao* treats full-term infants and newborns with high fever and epilepsy. Gouteng Tang (Uncaria Decoction) Formula:
Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) (1 fen) Chazhe (Tettigidae, 1 piece, wings removed, fried, added when decoction is ready) Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried) Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each 2 fen) Shetui (Bombyx Batryticatus, 2 cun, fried) Zhuli (Bambusae Caulis in Taedia) (3 he) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 3 fen, ground fine).
Cut the above ten ingredients. Boil in 1 sheng of water until reduced to 3.5 he. Mix with Zhuli and administer 1 he. If bowel movement occurs and the decoction residue is expelled, stop subsequent doses. For infants aged 50-60 days, administer 1 he per dose. Nursing mothers should avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum) and Songcai (Brassica rapa var. pekinensis). Cui Shi states: If seizures occur continuously without regaining consciousness, add Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) 1 fen, remove nodes.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* treats pediatric wind-phlegm congestion with excessive Qi, phlegm stagnation in the chest and heart, high fever, and epilepsy. Gouteng San (Uncaria Powder) Formula:
Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) (1 fen) Chazhe (Tettigidae, 2 pieces, lightly fried, wings and legs removed) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, core removed, dried) Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced, ground, lightly fried) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried to slightly red, sliced) Ziqin (Scutellariae Radix, each 0.5 liang) Shetui (Bombyx Batryticatus, 5 cun, burned to ash) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 3 liang).
Pound the above medicines, sieve into a powder. Take 1 qian per dose, boil in one small cup of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain, add 0.5 he of Zhuli. Adjust dosage according to the child's size.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* treats pediatric heat epilepsy with high fever of skin and flesh, irritability, and headache. Fushen San (Poria Powder) Formula:
Fushen (Poria Cum Radix) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, sliced, slightly red) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved, each 3 fen) Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex) Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved, each 0.5 liang) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 liang) Longchi (Dent Draconis, 1 liang) Chazhe (Tettigidae, 3 pieces, lightly fried, wings and legs removed).
Pound the above medicines, coarsely sieve into a powder. Take 1 qian per dose, boil in one small cup of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain. Adjust dosage according to the child's size and take warm.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* treats children from 100 days old to 3-4 years old with heat epilepsy and convulsions, body feeling like fire. Baixianpi San (Dictamni Cortex Powder) Formula:
Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) Digupi (Lycii Cortex) Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved) Huhuanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, each 3 fen) Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, core removed, dried) Longchi (Dent Draconis, each 1 liang) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 fen, honey-fried to slightly red, sliced).
Pound the above medicines, coarsely sieve into a powder. Take 1 qian per dose, boil in 1 sheng of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain, add Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus) powder equivalent to "Yi Zi" (a traditional measure). Adjust dosage according to the child's size and take warm.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* treats pediatric heat epilepsy with vomiting, reflux, irritability, and body heat. Ziqin San (Scutellaria Powder) Formula:
Ziqin (Scutellariae Radix) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radicle removed) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried to slightly red, sliced) Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) (each 0.5 liang) Chi Fuling (Poria with Red Host, Chuan Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 3 fen).
Pound the above medicines, coarsely sieve into a powder. Take 1 qian per dose, boil in one small cup of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain. Adjust dosage according to the child's size.

Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) (3 fen) Chazhe (Tettigidae, 2 pieces, lightly fried, wings and legs removed) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radicle removed) Ziqin (Scutellariae Radix) Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus, finely ground, reserved for late addition) Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced, lightly fried) (each 0.5 liang).

Pound the above medicines, sieve into powder, mix with the already ground ingredients, grind uniformly. Bind with refined honey, pound 200-300 times. Form pills the size of mung beans. Take 5 pills per dose, dissolved in Zhuli Tang (Bamboo Sap Decoction). Adjust dosage according to the child's size.

Huying (Fel Tigris, 1 pair, soaked in wine, lightly roasted) Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus, finely ground) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radicle removed) Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) Fushen (Poria Cum Radix) (each 0.5 liang) Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved) (3 fen) Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced, lightly fried) Zhusha (Cinnabaris, finely ground, washed with water) (each 1 liang).
Pound the above medicines, sieve into powder, mix with the already ground ingredients, grind uniformly. Bind with refined honey, form pills the size of mung beans. For one-year-old infants, dissolve one pill in Jinyin Tang (Gold and Silver Water) and administer, three times daily. For older children, increase the number of pills.
*Yingru Fang* treats infantile fright epilepsy, clearing heat. Erwei Danshen Mogao (Two-Ingredient Salvia Massage Ointment) Formula:
Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix) Leiwan (Polyporus Umbellatus) (each 2 liang).
Boil the above with lard and herbs, performing seven up-and-down cycles. Strain, massage onto the body, massaging multiple times daily.
*Yingru Fang* treats infantile hundred-twenty types of epilepsy. Stops fright, regularly taken to clear heat diseases. Shaoyao Wan (Peony Pill) Formula:
Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Tiefen (Ferrum Pulveratum) (each 3 fen) Chazhe (Tettigidae, 4 pieces, naturally dead) Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) (each 5 fen) Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 2.5 fen) Yinye (Argentum Folium) Xiong (Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix) Longgu (Os Draconis) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 2 fen) Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus) (3 zhu).
Grind into powder, bind with honey, form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take 2 pills per dose, three times daily. If ineffective, slightly increase to 4-5 pills.
*Yingru Fang* treats infantile epilepsy with predominant heat.
Zhuangjing Gen (Radix unknown, likely a specific root) (15 jin, finely sliced, washed clean) Shengtie (Raw Iron, large portion, crushed) Heidou (Black Soybean, 1.5 jin, in cloth bag) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 da liang, crushed).
Boil the above in 5 dou of water until reduced to 1.5 dou. Strain, clarify, filter, and boil down to syrup consistency. Before meals, take one spoonful mixed with Sanggu Tang (Mulberry Twig Decoction) and wine, twice daily. Severe cases will be completely cured within one month.
Zhang Huan Chanke San (Cicada Slough Powder) Formula: Treats all types of epilepsy complicated by heat.
Chanke (Periostracum Cicadae) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radicle removed) (each 0.5 liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) Fushen (Poria Cum Radix) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 1 fen).
Pound the above, sieve into fine powder. Additionally prepare: Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus, 1 fen, ground) Tianzhu Huang (Bambusae Tabulae) (ground) Moli Fen (Concha Ostreae) (ground) (each 1 qian).
Mix all finely. Take half a qian per dose, administered with Jingjie Bohe Tang (Schizonepeta and Mentha Decoction).
Zhang Huan Xijiao Tang (Rhinoceros Horn Decoction) Formula: Clears epilepsy, calms Heart Spirit.
Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved) (1 liang) Fuling (Poria) (finely sliced) Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, core removed, dried) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radicle removed) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 0.5 liang).
Pound the above, sieve into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, boil in 0.8 cup of water with a little fresh Shengdihuang juice (Rehmanniae Radix Fresh Juice), reduce to 0.4 cup. Strain, take warm.
