(Attached: Heavy Dysentery)
*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Chao Yuanfang), Prognosis of Red and White Retarded Down in Children: Children's constitutions originally harbor heat pathogens. If suddenly restrained by cold pathogens, the Qi and Blood become disregulated. If the Large Intestine is deficient, both Cold and Heat will attack it simultaneously. When Heat clashes with Blood and seeps into the intestinal cavity, the dysenteric stool appears red. When Cold clashes with the intestinal fluids and causes coagulation, the dysenteric stool appears white. When Cold and Heat interact, causing stagnation and mixture of Blood and mucus, combined with the deficiency of the intestines leading to diarrhea, this condition is called "Red and White Retarded Down" (Chi Bai Zhi Xia).
*Chao Shi Bing Yuan*, Prognosis of Heavy Dysentery in Children: "Heavy Dysentery" develops from Red and White Retarded Down. If the patient has excessive Heat pathogens, the Heat knots at the anus, causing the dysentery to occur intermittently and persist for a long time, depleting the Qi. This is termed "Heavy Dysentery."
*Sheng Hui Fang*: The so-called Pediatric Purulent Bloody Dysentery arises from Heat toxins accumulating in the Zang organs. Blood becomes fluid and overflows due to Heat, seeping into the Large Intestine, where it clashes with intestinal fluids. Accumulated Heat condenses, transforming Blood into pus. Due to abdominal (intestinal) deficiency and diarrhea, purulent bloody dysentery forms.
*Ge Shi Zhou Hou Fang*, *Bai Tou Weng Wan* Formula for Pediatric Toxic Dysentery and Red Retarded Down, with stools resembling fish brains:
*Bai Tou Weng* (3 fen), *Huang Lian* (6 fen, crushed), *Shi Liu Pi* (3 fen; note: toxic, replace with *Xi Jiao Xie* [Rhinoceros Horn Shavings] 3 fen).
Boil these three herbs in 2 sheng of water to obtain 8 he of decoction. For infants born 40 days old, administer 5 he, divided into three doses. Increase dosage for older children.
*Ge Shi Zhou Hou Fang*, Nursing Mother's Formula.
*Bian Dou Jing* (1 sheng, roasted until dry, then chopped), *Ren Shen* (3 liang).
Decoct these two herbs in 3 sheng of water to obtain 1.5 sheng of liquid. Strain and use the juice to cook millet porridge for the nursing mother to eat; this is beneficial. Keep the breasts covered frequently to prevent coldness. Another method: The nursing mother should regularly consume porridge. If she wishes to nurse, express and discard a small amount of milk first before feeding; this is better.
*Ge Shi Zhou Hou Fang*: *Jin Xiao Fang* treats pediatric dysentery starting at age three. Initially, there is little pus and much blood; after four days, much pus and little blood, with more than forty bowel movements day and night. Administering *Zhu Zi Wan* yields immediate effect.
*Sheng Di Huang* juice (5 small he), *Yang Shen Zhi* (Sheep Kidney Fat, 1 small he).
Warm the sheep kidney fat first, divide into three or four doses for immediate effect. The nursing mother must observe dietary restrictions; see the nursing mother's formula in the volume.
*Qian Jin Fang*, *Huang Bo Tang*: Treats pediatric summer exposure to sudden cold, where cold restrains internal excessive heat, allowing heat to enter the Stomach. Symptoms include dysentery with red and white matter resembling fish brains, high fever, headache, body heat, and restlessness in hands and feet. This occurs because External Cold damages the Tai Yang Qi, causing heat to rapidly enter the Stomach. This formula is effective. If mistakenly treated with purgatives or *Wen Pi Tang*, heat worsens. Purgatives cause frequent passage of red fluid resembling rotten meat. If purgatives fail and astringent heat medicines are used to stop diarrhea, heat may increase significantly if evacuation does not occur. This formula is also effective for Warm Disease patients with excessive heat compounded by sudden cold, resulting in abdominal heat and bloody stools resembling fish brains.
*Huang Bo*, *Huang Lian*, *Bai Tou Weng* (or *Bai Lian*), *Sheng Ma*, *Dang Gui*, *Mu Li*, *Shi Liu Pi*, *Huang Qin*, *Ji Sheng*, *Gan Cao* (roasted, each 2 fen), *Xi Jiao*, *Ai Ye* (each 1 fen).
Crush the twelve ingredients. Decoct in 3 sheng of water to obtain 1.2 sheng. For infants 100-200 days old, administer 3 he per dose. For infants over 200 days up to one year, administer 3.5 he per dose.
*Qian Jin Fang*, *Zhi Zhong Jie Chang Wan*: Treats Cold stagnation with red, white, and green stools resembling fish brains, rectal prolapse, chronic abdominal pain, and persistent symptoms.
*Chi Shi Zhi* (5 fen), *Wu Zhu Yu* (3 fen), *Gan Jiang* (processed), *Fu Zi* (processed, skin and navel removed), *Dang Gui*, *Hou Po*, *Bai Zhu* (processed), *Mu Lan Pi*, *Bai Tou Weng*, *Huang Lian*, *Huang Bo*, *Shi Liu Pi* (each 2 fen).
Grind the twelve ingredients into powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of soybeans. Two-year-olds take 5 pills; those over three years take 10 pills; those over ten years take 20 pills. For acute diarrhea, a small dose suffices. For chronic accumulation, finish one course and prepare another.
*Qian Jin Fang*, Formula for Pediatric Red and White Retarded Down.
*Xie Bai* (one bunch), *Chi* (Soybean Fermented, 1 sheng).
Decoct these two ingredients in 3 sheng of water to obtain 2 sheng. Divide into three doses.
*Qian Jin Fang*, Another Formula.
*Bai Ye* (Cacumen Platycladi), *Ma Zi* (Hemp Seed, powdered, each 1 sheng).
Decoct these two in 5 sheng of water until boiling three times. Infants under 100 days take 3 he per dose.
*Qian Jin Fang*, Another Formula.
Crush fresh pomegranate and take the juice.
*Qian Jin Fang*, Another Formula.
*Luan Fa* (Tangled Hair, ash), *Lu Jiao* (Deer Antler, ash, equal parts).
For three-year-olds, mix with water and take 3 qian bi, three times daily.
*Qian Jin Fang*, Another Formula.
