Zixia Ointment: Used for treating scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis of the neck) in its initial stage before suppuration; application leads to spontaneous resolution. For cases where suppuration has already occurred, application promotes spontaneous ulceration. For cases where the ulcer has opened but a hard nodule remains, application facilitates the spontaneous detachment of the nodule. It is also effective for various stubborn sores that are broken, non-healing, and accompanied by persistent pain.
Preparation: Take one jin (approx. 500g) of clear pine resin, grind into powder; take two liang (approx. 60g) of fresh green verdigris, grind into powder. Place four liang (approx. 120g) of pure sesame oil in a pot and boil vigorously several times until a drop does not disperse when dropped into water. Then add the pine resin and melt it. Next, add the verdigris and simmer until the white smoke almost disappears, indicating the ointment is ready. Remove from heat and pour into a porcelain jar for storage. When using, melt it by warming in hot water and apply immediately while spreading.
Jicheng Baiyu Dan (Integrated White Jade Pill): Specifically treats scrofula ulcers that have persisted for years without healing and have spread to the chest and axilla.
The *Laozi* states: "A lower-class scholar hears the Dao and laughs at it greatly. If it were not laughed at, it would not be worthy of being called the Dao." Similarly, people laugh at this prescription; if they did not laugh, it would not be worthy of being called a prescription. The ingredients are extremely cheap, even contemptible, yet its efficacy surpasses that of divine elixirs. It specifically treats scrofula ulcers spreading to the chest and axilla, which emit a foul odor and have persisted for three to ten or more years without healing; upon application, the disease resolves.
Preparation: Take a piece of newly kiln-fired mineral calcined stone, dissolve it with water into a powder, and mix evenly with raw tung oil to a moderate consistency of dryness and wetness. First, wash the sore with a decoction of Sichuan pepper and scallion, then apply this mixture. Healing occurs within a few days. Truly a miraculous event.
Previously, a friend of mine from the Daoist sect suffered from scrofula ulcers spreading to his chest and axilla for over ten years without healing. An uneducated person passed on this prescription, which worked immediately. Later, he used it to treat others, all of whom recovered. It is indeed a celestial prescription.
Regarding the syndrome of plum-blossom sore (syphilis), it is named so because of its swelling, protrusion, redness, and ulceration, resembling a plum blossom. In the northwest, it is called Tianpao Sore (blistering sore); in the southeast, it is called Mianhua Sore (cotton sore). Generally, children contracting this disease do so due to toxic pathogens transmitted from their parents, which differs from ordinary congenital toxins. Prostitutes and courtesans often suffer from this, and young men, driven by passion, fall victim to their schemes. After ejaculation, the toxic qi penetrates directly through the essence pathway into the Mingmen (Gate of Life) and floods the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel). Consequently, externally it affects the skin and hair, and internally it invades the sinews and bones. No area reached by the Chong Mai escapes the toxin; this toxicity is the deepest and most malignant. If treated improperly at the onset, failing to eliminate the toxin completely, it may lead to deterioration and death; or the toxin may be passed to offspring, resulting in infant mortality. People who witness this vile disease yet fail to feel horror and avoid it are exceedingly foolish!
Children may also contract this disease not due to inherited toxins. If caused merely by accidental damage from damp-heat, even if the disease manifests, it remains confined to the skin and muscles. Treatment focusing on clearing heat, detoxifying, and removing dampness will ensure recovery, requiring no concern.
