Note: The above formulas are all drugs that attack and drain primordial Qi (Yuanqi). If the disease has lasted long and spleen deficiency causes swelling, Yi Gong San (Modified Five-Ingredient Powder with Licorice) by Qian Yi should be the main formula, slightly assisted by Wupi Tang (Five-Peel Decoction; see Edema in Miscellaneous Diseases). Misuse of these will inevitably lead to untreatable conditions.
(Zhi), meaning little ghost. Infants under nursing age cannot walk, while their mothers are pregnant again. The child suffers from mild diarrhea and alternating chills and fever, with withered hair. It is believed that evil spirits guide the fetus in the womb, causing jealousy and this condition, hence named Zhu Bing (Infectious Disease/Neurological Disorder). Those close to the patient can also be successively infected, also called Ji Bing (Successive Disease). Pregnant women do not always cause Zhu Bing, but it occurs occasionally. In women, Qi and Blood ascend to form breast milk and descend as menstrual blood. When infants drink exchanged milk and fall ill, considering their physical form was already nourished in the womb, the thinness of the milk is evident; how can it not make the infant sick? Why blame ghosts and gods? *Qianjin Fang* suggests chewing roasted bat flesh to feed the infant, while pregnant women wear sparrow hawk feathers or horse eye beads. This does not nourish Qi and Blood but merely mutilates animals. Haizang said: Living transmission is called "Xiangji," dead transmission is called "Chuanshi." Pulse without Qi is called Shijue (Corpse Faintness); Qi without pulse is called Xingshi (Walking Corpse). Dingxi, Lupu, Kewu, and Wugu are four distinct diseases. Yangyi, Yinyi, Baihe, and Huhuo are four strange diseases.
Longdan Decoction: Treats newborns with abundant and solid blood vessels, presenting with warm fevers, alternating chills and fever, and convulsions of the four limbs. For vomiting cases where the infant can take supplementary food but suffers from abdominal fullness and indigestion. For persistent high fever and unresolved Bianzheng (metabolic heat changes). For invasion by human or ghostly Qi, and various types of fright epilepsy. This formula treats all such conditions.

Crush into a powder. Decoct 1 sheng of water to obtain 5 he as one dose. Suitable for children under ten years old. For infants aged 1 to 7 days, divide 1 he into three doses; 8 to 15 days, divide 1.5 he into three doses; 16 to 20 days, divide 2 he into three doses; 20 to 30 days, divide 3 he into three doses. Stop when bowel movement is achieved. This formula is designed for newborns. For older infants, follow this example. Knowing if it is Kewu (Sudden Shock) or Zhu Qi (Infectious Qi), add Codonopsis Radix (Renshen) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) each 2.5 qian. For 100-day-old infants, add 1 qian 1 zi; for 200-day-old infants, add 2.5 qian; for 1-year-old infants, add 0.5 liang. Adjust other herbs accordingly.
*Shenghui Fang* Gancao Powder: Treats pediatric Zhu infection, presenting with white-red complexion turning blue like drunkenness, recurring facial redness. If blue-black color surrounds the mouth, it is untreatable. Late detection leads to death; early detection means pathogenic Qi has not entered the Zang-Fu organs, and mild breastfeeding support allows administration of this formula.
