《龙木论》治小儿疳眼外障。此眼初患时皆因脑头上有疮。或因经日多时泻痢，
潜冲疼痛，泪出难开，膈间伏热气，肝风入眼。初患此疳时痒涩，揉眉咬甲，致令
翳生，赤肿疼痛，泪出难开，睑硬，白睛遮瞒，怕日合面卧，不喜抬头。此疾
不宜烧灸头面，恐损眼也，切忌点药，宜服杀疳散、退翳丸。《圣惠》论∶夫肝开
窍于目，目者肝之候，若小儿内有疳气，肌体瘦羸，而脏腑挟于风热，壅滞不得宣
通，因其乳食过多，胸膈痰结，邪热之气上攻于目，则令脑热目痒，或赤烂生疮，
或生障翳，渐渐遮睛，久而不瘥，损于眼目，故号眼疳也。《玉诀》云∶此患先与
凉膈，后泻肝，次淋洗之，即无误也。又云∶此患小儿肝热，宜泻肝散、蕤仁膏、
凉膈退热。又云∶小儿疳眼雀目，斑疮入眼者，先与利膈退热凉心经，后与疳药也。
《龙木论》杀疳散
防风 龙脑 牡蛎 白芷 细辛 五味子（各二两）
上为末。每服一钱，食后粥饮调下。
退翳丸
黑参 防风（各一两） 细辛 石决明 车前子（各半两） 桔梗 黄芩（各一两半）
上为末，炼蜜为丸，梧桐子大。空心茶下十丸。
《玉诀》泻肝散
木贼 威灵仙 紫参 家菊花 羌活 蝉蜕（去足） 大黄（生） 甘草（炙） 石决明（各等分） 脑子（少许）
上为末，每用药二钱， 猪肝一两，批开去膜，掺药在内，线缠，米泔煮熟，嚼下。
蕤仁膏
蕤仁（四十九粒，去皮，出油） 脑子（少许）
上研成膏。用灯心点少许。
《灵苑》羚羊角丸 治肝肺壅热，眼生 肉，赤脉涩痛，及赤眼障翳睛疼，痒痛羞
明，及小儿风疳烁阳眼神妙。
羚羊角（屑，晒干脆，为末） 甘草（生） 白何首乌 瓦松（以纱绢内洗去土。各一两） 生干地黄（洗）
郁金（炮过用，地上去火气。各二两）
上件六味，并细锉曝干、捣，罗为细末，炼蜜为丸，如梧桐大。每服十五丸，
用浓煎淡竹叶、黑豆汤冷下，食后临卧服，小儿丸如绿豆大，每服七丸至十丸。
《谭氏殊圣》退云散 治小儿疳眼 饶啼不住。
草决明 土瓜根 大黄（炮） 玄参（各半两） 甘草（炙） 宣连 石（井泉石是，研。各一分）
上细为散。每服一钱，水一盏，同煎至七分五度与吃。
〔张涣〕井泉石散 治眼疳，邪热攻于眼目，渐生翳障，致损睛瞳。
井泉石（一两） 晚蚕砂 夜明砂（各微炒） 石决明 甘菊花 黄连（去须。各半两）
上件捣，罗为细末。每服一钱，用米泔一盏，入生猪肝少许，煎五分，肝烂为
度，放温，时时服，乳食后。
《胡氏家传》猪胆黄连丸 治小儿疳瘦，大治肝疳作眼疾，白膜遮睛，诸药不痊者。
胡黄连 雄黄（细研） 夜明砂（细研。各等分） 猪胆（数个） 麝香（少许，不入胆煮）
上为末，以猪胆汁调药，稀稠得所，却入元胆皮内以线紧系口，米泔水煮五七
沸，取出放冷，先以麝香于乳钵内研细，却入药一处同研（不用胆皮，只取出药，）候细，
用软饭为丸，如大麻子大。每服十丸，大者加至十五丸，米饮吞下，如疳气盛，须用陈米饮下。
治小儿肝藏风热，眼中不见物，及有汗方
石决明 乳香（各一分） 龙胆（二分） 大黄（半两，煨）
上为末。每服两钱，用薄荷温水调下。（庄氏第十六候用此方。）
《龙木论》论述治疗小儿疳眼外障。这种眼病初发时，都是因为头部有疮疡。或者因为长期腹泻痢疾，邪气潜行冲逆导致疼痛，流泪且难以睁开眼睑，膈间伏藏热气，肝风侵入眼部。初次患此疳病时，眼睛感到痒涩，揉搓眉毛、咬指甲，致使翳膜生成，眼睛红肿胀痛，流泪难开，眼睑僵硬，白睛被遮蔽，怕光而侧卧脸朝下，不喜欢抬头。此病不适宜在头面部烧灼艾灸，恐怕损伤眼睛，切忌点涂眼药，适宜服用杀疳散、退翳丸。
《圣惠方》论述：肝脏开窍于目，眼睛是肝脏的外候，如果小儿体内有疳气，肌体消瘦羸弱，而脏腑夹杂风热，壅滞不得宣通，因为乳食过多，胸膈痰结，邪热之气上攻于目，则导致头脑发热、眼睛瘙痒，或者红肿溃烂生疮，或者生成障翳，渐渐遮蔽瞳孔，久治不愈，损伤眼目，所以称为眼疳。
《玉诀》说：此病患先给予凉膈（清泄膈间郁热），后泻肝（清泻肝火），其次进行淋洗，就不会有误。又说：此病患小儿肝热，适宜用泻肝散、蕤仁膏、凉膈退热法。又说：小儿疳眼雀盲（夜盲症）、斑疮入眼的，先给予利膈退热、清心经的方法，后再给予治疳的药物。
《龙木论》杀疳散
防风、龙脑（冰片）、牡蛎、白芷、细辛、五味子（各二两）
以上药物研为末。每次服用一钱，饭后用米粥水调服。
退翳丸
黑参、防风（各一两）、细辛、石决明、车前子（各半两）、桔梗、黄芩（各一两半）
以上药物研为末，炼蜜制成丸剂，大小如梧桐子。空腹时用茶送服十丸。
《玉诀》泻肝散
木贼、威灵仙、紫参、家菊花、羌活、蝉蜕（去足）、大黄（生用）、甘草（炙用）、石决明（各等分）、脑子（少许，即冰片）
以上药物研为末。每次用药二钱，猪肝一两，剖开去掉内膜，将药粉掺入其中，用线缠绕，用米泔水煮熟，嚼碎吞服。
蕤仁膏
蕤仁（四十九粒，去皮，榨出油）、脑子（少许，即冰片）
以上研磨成膏。用灯心草蘸取少许点眼。
《灵苑》羚羊角丸 治疗肝肺壅热，眼中生出息肉，赤脉涩痛，以及赤眼障翳、眼睛疼痛、痒痛羞明，以及小儿风疳灼伤眼神，此方甚为神妙。
羚羊角（锉屑，晒干脆，研为末）、甘草（生用）、白何首乌、瓦松（用纱绢清洗去土。各一两）、生干地黄（清洗）、郁金（炮制过使用，去除地上火气。各二两）
以上六味药，都细细切碎晒干、捣碎，筛为细末，炼蜜制成丸剂，大小如梧桐子。每次服用十五丸，用浓煎的淡竹叶、黑豆汤冷却后送服，饭后临睡前服用。小儿丸剂如绿豆大，每次服用七丸至十丸。
《谭氏殊圣》退云散 治疗小儿疳眼，哭闹不止。
草决明、土瓜根、大黄（炮制）、玄参（各半两）、甘草（炙用）、宣连（黄连的一种）、石（井泉石，研细。各一分）
以上细研为散。每次服用一钱，用水一盏，同煎至七分，分五次给患儿服用。
〔张涣〕井泉石散 治疗眼疳，邪热攻冲眼目，渐渐生成翳障，导致损伤瞳孔。
井泉石（一两）、晚蚕砂、夜明砂（各微炒）、石决明、甘菊花、黄连（去须。各半两）
以上药物捣碎，筛为细末。每次服用一钱，用米泔水一盏，加入少许生猪肝，煎煮五分，直到肝烂为止，放温，时时服用，在乳食之后。
《胡氏家传》猪胆黄连丸 治疗小儿疳瘦，主治肝疳引发的眼疾，白膜遮蔽瞳孔，其他药物无效者。
胡黄连、雄黄（细研）、夜明砂（细研。各等分）、猪胆（数个）、麝香（少许，不入胆中煮）
以上研为末，用猪胆汁调和药粉，稀稠适中，再放入原胆皮内，用线紧紧系住口，用米泔水煮五到七沸，取出放冷，先用麝香在乳钵内研细，再与药一起同研（不用胆皮，只取出药），待细后，用软饭制成丸剂，如大麻子大。每次服用十丸，大一点的孩子加至十五丸，用米饮吞服。如果疳气盛，必须用陈米饮送服。
治疗小儿肝脏藏有风热，眼中看不见物体，以及有汗的情况下使用的方子：
石决明、乳香（各一分）、龙胆（二分）、大黄（半两，煨制）
以上研为末。每次服用两钱，用薄荷温水调服。（庄氏第十六候使用此方。）
*Longmu Lun* discusses the treatment of pediatric gan-eye external obstruction. When this eye disease first occurs, it is all due to sores on the head or face. Or because of prolonged diarrhea and dysentery, pathogenic qi secretly rushes upward causing pain, with tearing and difficulty opening the eyelids; latent heat in the diaphragm and liver wind invading the eyes. Initially suffering from this gan condition, the eyes feel itchy and astringent, leading to rubbing of the eyebrows and biting of nails, resulting in the formation of nebula (corneal opacity). The eyes become red, swollen, painful, with tearing and difficulty opening, stiff eyelids, white sclera covered, aversion to light causing the child to lie face down, disliking to lift the head. This disease should not be treated with cauterization or moxibustion on the head and face, as it may damage the eyes; applying eye drops is strictly contraindicated. It is suitable to administer Shagan San (Kill Gan Powder) and Tuiyi Wan (Remove Nebula Pill).
*Shenghui Fang* states: The Liver opens into the eyes, and the eyes are the manifestation of the Liver. If a child has internal gan qi, emaciated body, and the zang-fu organs are constrained by wind-heat, causing stagnation without free circulation, due to excessive milk and food intake, phlegm knotting in the chest and diaphragm, pathogenic heat attacking the eyes from above, it causes brain heat and itchy eyes, or redness, ulceration, and sores, or generation of obstructions and nebulae, gradually covering the pupil. If untreated for a long time, it damages the eyes, hence called "Eye Gan".
*Yu Jue* states: For this condition, first apply Liangge (Cool the Diaphragm), then Xiegan (Drain the Liver), followed by washing/rinsing, and there will be no error. It also states: For children with liver heat in this condition, Xiegan San (Drain Liver Powder), Ruren Gao (Buckthorn Ointment), and Liangge Tuire (Cool Diaphragm and Clear Heat) are suitable. It further states: For pediatric gan-eye night blindness (Que Mu) or pox entering the eyes, first apply Lige Tuire (Benefit Diaphragm, Clear Heat) and Qing Xin Jing (Clear Heart Meridian), then administer gan medicines.
*Longmu Lun* Shagan San (Kill Gan Powder)
Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Longnao (Borneol), Muli (Oyster Shell), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica), Xixin (Asarum), Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit) (each 2 liang).
Grind into powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with rice porridge water after meals.
Tuiyi Wan (Remove Nebula Pill)
Heishen (Black Ginseng), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (each 1 liang), Xixin (Asarum), Shijueming (Abalone Shell), Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) (each 1.5 liang).
Grind into powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 10 pills on an empty stomach with tea.
*Yu Jue* Xiegan San (Drain Liver Powder)
Muzei (Equisetum), Weilingxian (Spirit Flower Root), Zican (Salvia Miltiorrhiza), Jia Juhua (Chrysanthemum), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Root), Chantui (Cicada Slough, feet removed), Dahuang (Rhubarb, raw), Gancao (Licorice Root, roasted), Shijueming (Abalone Shell) (each equal parts), Naozhi (Borneol, a little).
Grind into powder. Use 2 qian of medicine per dose with 1 liang of pig liver. Slice the liver open, remove the membrane, sprinkle the medicine inside, tie with thread, boil in rice wash water until cooked, chew and swallow.
Ruren Gao (Buckthorn Ointment)
Ruren (Buckthorn Seed, 49 grains, skin removed, oil extracted), Naozhi (Borneol, a little).
Grind into ointment. Apply a small amount using a rush stem as a dropper.
*Lingyuan* Lingyangjiao Wan (Antelope Horn Pill) Treats liver and lung congestion-heat, growth of fleshy polyps in the eyes, red vessels with astringency and pain, as well as red eye obstructions/nebulae, eye pain, itching and pain with photophobia, and is miraculous for pediatric wind-gan consuming yang spirit.
Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn, shaved, dried thoroughly, powdered), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw), Bai Heshouwu (White Polygonum Multiflorum), Wasong (Parmotrema Perlatum, washed clean of soil with gauze) (each 1 liang), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmannia Root, raw, dried), Yujin (Curcuma Root, processed to remove fire qi) (each 2 liang).
The six ingredients above are finely chopped, dried, pounded, and sifted into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 15 pills per dose, cooled decoction of strong Danzhuye (Lophatherum Herb) and Heidou (Black Soybean) taken after meals before sleep. For children, make pills the size of mung beans, take 7 to 10 pills per dose.
*Tanshi Shusheng* Tuiyun San (Remove Cloud Powder) Treats pediatric gan-eye, incessant crying.
Caojueming (Cassia Seed), Tugua Gen (Trichosanthes Radix), Dahuang (Rhubarb, processed), Xuanshen (Scrophularia Root) (each 0.5 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, roasted), Xuanlian (Coptis Chinensis), Shi (Well Spring Stone/Jingquanshi, ground) (each 1 fen).
Grind finely into powder. Take 1 qian per dose, with one cup of water, decoct together to 0.7 cups, divide into five doses for administration.
[Zhang Huan] Jingquanshi San (Well Spring Stone Powder) Treats eye gan, where pathogenic heat attacks the eyes, gradually forming nebulae/obstructions, damaging the pupil.
Jingquanshi (Well Spring Stone, 1 liang), Wancangsha (Silkworm Feces), Yeming Sha (Cicada Faeces) (each lightly stir-fried), Shijueming (Abalone Shell), Gan Juhua (Chrysanthemum), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, remove roots) (each 0.5 liang).
Pound and sift into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, with one cup of rice wash water, add a little raw pig liver, decoct for five minutes until the liver is soft. Let cool slightly, take frequently after milk/food.
*Hu Family Collection* Zhudan Huanglian Wan (Pig Gallbladder Coptis Pill) Treats pediatric gan emaciation, primarily treats liver gan causing eye disease, white membrane covering the pupil, when other medicines fail.
Huhuanglian (Coicis Fructus/Hu Huanglian), Xionghuang (Realgar, finely ground), Yeming Sha (Cicada Faeces, finely ground) (each equal parts), Zhu Dan (Pig Gallbladder, several), Shexiang (Musk, a little, do not boil in gallbladder).
Grind into powder. Mix medicine with pig bile to appropriate consistency. Place back into the original gallbladder, tie tightly with thread. Boil in rice wash water for five to seven boils. Remove and let cool. First grind musk finely in a mortar, then mix with the medicine (do not use the gallbladder skin, just take out the medicine). When fine, mix with soft rice to make pills the size of hemp seeds. Take 10 pills per dose, up to 15 for older/larger children, swallowed with rice drink. If gan qi is severe, must use aged rice drink.
Formula for treating pediatric liver storing wind-heat, inability to see objects in the eyes, and when sweating:
Shijueming (Abalone Shell), Rushi (Frankincense) (each 1 fen), Longdan (Gentiana Root) (2 fen), Dahuang (Rhubarb, 0.5 liang, baked).
Grind into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with warm mint water. (Used in Zhuang's Sixteenth Condition.)
