*Shenghui Fang* discusses: The etiology of pediatric pus-and-blood dysentery lies in heat-toxin accumulating within the zang-organs. Blood, when heated, flows and overflows, seeping into the large intestine, where it clashes with intestinal fluids. Accumulated heat condenses, transforming blood into pus; abdominal deficiency leads to diarrhea, thus forming pus-and-blood dysentery.
*Ge Shi Zhou Hou Fang* records pediatric toxic dysentery and red-dysentery (Chi Li) with tenesmus, where stool resembles fish brains. Baitouweng Wan Formula:
Baitouweng (3 fen) Huanglian (6 fen, ground) Shiliupi (3 fen; if toxic, remove Shiliupi and substitute Xijiao Xie 3 fen)
The above three herbs are boiled in two sheng of water to yield eight ge of decoction. For infants born forty days old, administer five ge per dose, divided into three servings; for older children, increase the dosage accordingly.
*Zhou Hou Fang* Lactating Mother's Prescription:
Biandou Jing (1 sheng, roasted until dry, then chopped) Renshen (3 liang)
Boil the above herbs in three sheng of water to obtain one and a half sheng of liquid. Strain and use this liquid to cook millet porridge for the lactating mother to consume, which is beneficial. Ensure the breast milk is kept covered and warm, preventing it from cooling, which is optimal. Alternatively, have the mother regularly consume porridge; before nursing, express and discard a small amount of milk, which will be effective.
*Zhou Hou · Jin Xiao Fang* Treats pediatric dysentery occurring at age three. Initially, there is little pus and much blood; after four days, there is much pus and little blood, with more than forty bowel movements day and night. Zhuzi Wan is effective upon administration.
Sheng Dihuang (juice, five small he) Yangshen Zhi (one small he)
First, warm the kidney fat until melted. Divide into three or four doses for immediate effect. The lactating mother must observe dietary restrictions; see the lactating mother's prescription mentioned earlier.
*Qianjin Fang* Huangbai Tang: Treats pediatric summer exposure to sudden cold, where cold constrains internal excessive heat, causing heat to enter the stomach. Symptoms include passage of red and white mucus resembling fish brains, high fever, headache, body heat, and restlessness of hands and feet. This occurs because Taiyang qi is externally invaded by cold, allowing heat to enter the stomach. This formula is beneficial. If mistakenly treated with purgatives that promote urination/diarrhea, or with Wentai Tang, heat will intensify. If purgatives cause frequent passage of red fluid resembling rotting meat, or if purgation fails to cure, and subsequent use of astringent-hot drugs fails to stop diarrhea while increasing high fever, this formula is effective. Similarly, if warm disease heat is excessive and suddenly constrained by cold, causing heat to enter the abdomen and resulting in bloody stools resembling fish brains, this formula is beneficial.
Huangbai Huanglian Baitouweng (or Bailian) Shengma Danggui Muli Shiliupi Huangqin Jisheng Gancao (roasted, each 2 fen) Xijiao Aiye (each 1 fen)
Crush the above twelve herbs. Boil in three sheng of water to obtain one sheng and two ge of decoction. For infants aged 100-200 days, administer three ge per dose; for those aged over 200 days up to one year, administer three and a half ge per dose.
*Qianjin Fang* Miscellaneous Formulas for Pediatric Red and White Dysentery:
Xiebai (one bunch), Chi (one sheng). Boil in three sheng of water to obtain two sheng, divide into three doses. Baiye and Maziren Mo (each one sheng). Boil in five sheng of water for three boils. For infants under 100 days, administer three ge per dose. Luantou Hui and Lujiao Hui in equal parts. For three-year-olds, mix with water and administer three Qianbi, three times daily. Niujiao Hui. Mix with water and administer three Fangcunbi. Crush and administer Shiliu juice. Burn Fengfang to ash, mix with water, and administer. Sheng Dihuang juice and Baihe Gen juice (each five he). Simmer over low heat. Administer Sheng Dihuang juice alone, one he.

Pulverize the above herbs into fine powder. Prepare a paste using thick vinegar and decoct to form pills the size of mung beans. Administer seven pills per dose with warm rice gruel, three to four times daily, adjusting based on the infant's size.
*Yangsheng Biyong Fang* Huanglian Ejiao Wan: Treats heat-dysentery with tenesmus, painful passage of pus and blood, and unbearable abdominal pain. Suitable for the elderly, postpartum women, patients with deficiency-labor, and children.
