Wuling San (Ancestral Formula) Baihu Tang (Ancestral Formula) Qi Qi Tang, also known as Renshen Qi Qi Tang (Ancestral Formula)
Wuchen Tang (from *Ju Fang*) Treats all types of Cold Qi. As well as Blood and Qi attacking in women. Cramping pain in the heart and abdomen.
Tiantai Wuyao Chenxiang Renshen (each one liang) Gancao (stir-fried, five qian)
The above four herbs are ground into powder. Each dose is half a liang. Add three slices of fresh ginger, decoct until ready, add one zi of salt, and take hot.
Chenxiang Jiangqi San (from *Ju Fang*) Treats all types of Qi stagnation. Discomfort in the chest and diaphragm. Irregular menstruation in women. Stabbing pain in the lower abdomen.
Chenxiang (four qian) Gancao (honey-fried, eight qian) Sharen (stir-fried, four qian) Xiangfu (soaked in child's urine, remove outer skin, lightly stir-fried, two liang)
The above four herbs are ground into a powder. Each dose is two qian. Add one zi of salt, mix with boiling water, and take.
Muxiang Tiaoqi San Treats Qi stagnation in the chest and diaphragm leading to deficiency-type fullness. Vomiting, regurgitation, and stabbing pain.
Baidoukou (remove shell) Dingxiang Muxiang Tanxiang (each two qian) Huoxiang Gancao (honey-fried, each eight fen) Sharen (four qian, stir-fried)
The above herbs are ground into a powder. Each dose is two qian. Add one zi of salt, mix with boiling water into a thick paste. Take once in the morning and once in the evening. Alternatively, make pills with water drops, taking two qian per dose. Adding Renshen, Baizhu, Fuling, Shanyao, Chuanpi, Qingpi, and Bidengqie to this formula creates Yuqi San. It treats deficiency-cold abdominal pain and promotes appetite.
Simotu Tang Treats all types of Qi obstruction. Fullness and discomfort. Sudden outbreaks from time to time.
Chenxiang Wuyao Binglang Renshen
Equal parts of the above herbs. Grind with wine. Each herb approximately half a qian. Add one zi of salt, mix with boiling water and take. Or grind only the first three herbs, double the amount of Renshen, decoct in water, add salt, and take.
Liumo Tang
Add Zhike and Muxiang to Simotu Tang. Note: Although Simotu Tang uses Renshen, it is actually a potent agent for dispersing Qi. Because Binglang, Chenxiang, and Wuyao, aided by Renshen, exert an even more potent force. After ingestion, there will inevitably be discharge of accumulated foam in the stool; relief follows defecation. If Liumo Tang adds two more Qi-breaking herbs, the downward-moving Qi action is particularly rapid. Modern physicians, fearing Qi stagnation, dare not use Renshen, using only various Qi-breaking herbs ground together. This severely deviates from the original intent of the formula.
Chenxiang Huaqi Wan Treats Food accumulation and Phlegm-Qi. Fullness and distension interfering with eating.
Dahuang (wine-steamed) Tiao Huangqin (each two liang) Renshen Baizhu (each three liang) Chenxiang (five qian, separately ground)
First, chop the previous four herbs. Soak seven times and sun-dry seven times using Ginger Juice and Bamboo Sap. When dry, grind into powder, mix with Chenxiang powder, and grind again. Make pills with Shenqu paste, coat with Zhusha processed by water levigation. Dry in the sun, avoiding fire. Each dose is two qian, taken with light ginger soup. Reduce dosage for children. This formula imitates Wang Yinjun's Untan Wan, removing Mengshi and adding Renshen and Baizhu to dispel food accumulation and Phlegm-fluid. Although slightly inferior to Untan Wan, Dahuang and Huangqin, driven by the momentum of Renshen and Baizhu, act like fierce generals breaking through encirclement. Do not view the presence of Renshen and Baizhu as merely tonifying and apply them indiscriminately, thereby damaging the Post-Heaven Qi; the harm caused would be significant.
