味苦，性温。有微毒。治疗眼疾，消除积块，溃破痈疽，治疗痘疮内陷（倒靥），疏通咽喉闭塞及牙关紧闭。用白开水化服，可治疗急黄病（急性黄疸型肝炎等危重病症）濒临死亡者。与人乳混合，点涂于眼部肉翳膜上。用热酒送服，治疗破伤风疮。（若粪便呈白色结痂且无血者，杀人最急迫猛烈。）与砂糖制成丸剂，用棉布包裹含咽，可治愈喉痹和乳蛾。与桂心、干姜、艾叶制成丸剂，治疗癖积及各种肿块。加入少许麝香，用米汤送服，治疗痘疮内陷。

味辛，性平，有毒。治疗久疟，在发作当日搅动酒熏鼻即可停止。配独头蒜，取燕粪三合，炒后研末制成丸剂，清汤送下，可去除蛊毒，杀灭邪疰（注：指具有传染性的疰病），破除五种淋证，通利小便。
即伏翼（蝙蝠）。
驱逐五种淋证，去除目翳。
拭去毛、肠并爪子，用酒浸泡一夜，用黄精汁涂抹后炙烤使用。
即夜明砂。
畏忌白蔹、白薇。
味辛，性寒。入足厥阴肝经血分。活血消积，疏散内外结聚之气，治疗肝经血分的各种疾病。与朱砂、麝香末混合，治疗五种疟疾。猪胆汁为丸，米汤送服，治疗雀盲（夜盲症）。掺入猪肝中，治疗翳障。酒送药末，可下死胎。

怪症：眼中白珠变墨黑色，视物如常，毛发直立如铁丝，能进食但不能说话，昏昏沉沉如同醉酒，名为“血溃”。服用五灵脂末二钱，即可痊愈。
That is, the feces of male sparrows.
Bitter, warm. Slightly toxic. Treats eye diseases, resolves accumulations and masses, discharges carbuncles and sores, treats inverted smallpox (inverted 痘疮倒靥), unblocks throat obstruction and trismus (lockjaw). Dissolved in plain boiled water and taken orally, it treats acute jaundice (acute yellow disease) approaching death. Mixed with human milk and applied to the eyes, it treats pterygium and corneal opacity. Taken with hot wine, it treats traumatic tetanus wounds. (Those that form white scabs without blood are extremely lethal.) Made into pills with rock sugar, held in the mouth and swallowed slowly, it cures pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Made into pills with Cinnamon Heart (Guixin), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang), and Mugwort Leaf (Aiye), it treats fixed masses and various swellings. With a small amount of Musk (Shexiang) added and taken with rice drink, it treats inverted smallpox.
Those with two straight pointed ends are the feces of male sparrows. Collected in the twelfth lunar month, remove the impurities attached at both ends, grind into fine powder, soak overnight in Licorice Root (Gancao) water, drain the water, and dry by roasting for use.
Also known as Swallow Feces.
Sweet, bland, neutral. Tonifies Yin, moistens the Lung, generates fluids, nourishes the Stomach, resolves phlegm, and stops coughing. It promotes the mutual generation of Metal (Lung) and Water (Kidney), allowing Kidney Qi to nourish the Lung from below, thereby calming Stomach Qi. Among herbs for regulating deficiency and damage, this is the best. For resolving phlegm and moistening the Lung, decoct lightly; for nourishing Yin and the Stomach, cook with rice into porridge or decoct with rock sugar.
Swallow Feces.
Pungent, neutral, toxic. Treats chronic malaria; stirring wine and inhaling the fumes on the day of onset stops the attack. Paired with a single clove of garlic, take three he of Swallow Feces, stir-fry, grind into powder, make into pills, and send down with clear soup. It removes gu poison (parasitic toxicity), kills epidemic miasma (zhuzhu), breaks five types of strangury, and promotes urination.
That is, the bat (Fuyi).
Expels the five types of strangury, removes eye opacities.
Wipe off hairs, intestines, and claws, soak in wine overnight, coat with Polygonatum Juice (Huangjing Zhi), and roast for use.
That is, Ye Ming Sha (Night-Shining Sand).
Incompatible with White Peony Root (Bailian) and Pale Anemone Root (Baiwei).
Pungent, cold. Enters the Blood aspect of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian. Invigorates blood, resolves accumulations, disperses internal and external qi stagnation, and treats various diseases of the Liver Meridian Blood aspect. Mixed with Cinnabar (Zhusha) and Musk (Shexiang) powders, it treats five types of malaria. Made into pills with Pig Bile (Zhudan) and sent down with rice drink, it treats nyctalopia (night blindness). Mixed into pig liver, it treats visual obstructions. Powder sent down with wine expels dead fetus.
Thoroughly washed, sun-dried, roasted for use.
That is, the feces of the Hanhao Chong (flying squirrel).
Incompatible with Ginseng Root (Renshen). Damages the body.
Sweet, warm. Enters the Blood aspect of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian. Treats phlegm-saliva mixed with blood forming nests, removes pain from blood stasis in the chest and abdomen, cures malaria and dysentery, treats eye opacities, and clears intestinal wind.
Paired with Pinellia Tuber (Banxia), it treats phlegm-blood coagulation. Paired with Lygodium Spore (Puhuang), it treats heart and abdominal pain. Assisted by Walnut Kernel (Hetao) and Biota Seed (Baiziren), it treats cough and lung distension. Combined with Aucklandia Root (Muxiang) and Lindera Root (Wuyao), it regulates stabbing pain throughout the body due to blood and qi stagnation. Mixed with wine, it treats snake bites causing coma and ulceration.
Processed with wine (jiu fei), sand and stones removed, sun-dried for use.
Strange Syndrome: The white part of the eyeball turns ink-black, vision remains normal, hair stands straight like iron wires, the patient can eat but cannot speak, appears dazed as if drunk, named "Blood Collapse" (Xue Kui). Take two qian of Wulingzhi powder, and recovery occurs immediately.
