甘、淡，微凉。入手太阴、少阴、足阳明经。清咳气上冲，除风邪烦热，止吐血，利小
水。得芍药，清肝胆之火。
得橘皮，治上气发热。佐小麦、石膏，治时行发黄。苦竹不入药。
竹根
苦，寒。能下五脏热毒瓦斯。气虚者禁用。
竹衣
清肺火，通肺气。虚火伤金，失音不出者，用此治之。
竹内白衣如纸者。
竹茹
畏皂刺、油麻。
甘，微寒。入足少阳、阳明经。清上焦之火，消虚热之痰。疗惊悸、止胎动、呕 噎膈、
吐血崩中、因内火致者，
非此不治。得鸡子，治饮酒头痛。配蒌仁，治妇女劳复如中风状。
肉薄，节间起白霜者。刮去青皮，用第二层。
竹沥
姜汁为之使。畏皂刺、油麻。
甘，寒。治狂闷，利九窍。疗破伤中风，止因触胎动，养血明目。凡痰在经络四肢胸膈
及皮裹膜外，非此不达不行。
和姜汁，治中风热郁之痰。合地黄，治时症阴虚之热。
肠胃寒湿者禁用。
伏粉霜。
甘，凉。入手少阴经。凉心热，镇肝风，利关窍，辟邪恶。除昏昧谵妄，病后痰郁。
生南海镛竹中。此竹极大，又名天竹，其内有黄，结成如竹节片者真。其气味功用与竹沥同
，而无寒滑之害。

畏惧皂角刺、胡麻。
味甘、淡，性微凉。归入手太阴肺经、手少阴心经、足阳明胃经。能清降咳嗽时气机上冲，祛除风邪引起的烦热，止住吐血，通利小便。与芍药配伍，可清泻肝胆之火。
与橘皮配伍，治疗气逆发热。佐以小麦、石膏，治疗流行性疫病导致的发黄。苦竹不用于入药。
竹衣
清泄肺火，通畅肺气。适用于虚火损伤肺金导致的失音不出，用此治疗。
指竹内层如纸般的白色薄膜。
竹茹
畏惧皂角刺、胡麻。
味甘，性微寒。归入足少阳胆经、足阳明胃经。清泄上焦之火，消除因虚热产生的痰液。治疗惊悸，止住胎动不安，治疗呕吐、噎膈、吐血及崩中漏下等由内火引起的病症，若非此类病机则非此药所能治。与鸡蛋配合，治疗饮酒后头痛。配伍瓜蒌仁，治疗妇女产后劳复出现类似中风的症状。
选取肉质较薄、节间有白霜的竹子。刮去青皮，使用第二层。
竹沥
以姜汁为引使。畏惧皂角刺、胡麻。
味甘，性寒。治疗狂乱闷乱，通利九窍。治疗破伤风和中风，止住因触碰胎气导致的胎动，养血明目。凡是痰浊阻滞在经络、四肢、胸膈以及皮裹膜外的部位，非此药不能通达运行。
与姜汁同用，治疗中风热郁导致的痰证。与地黄同用，治疗时令病症中阴虚导致的发热。
肠胃有寒湿者禁用。
伏粉霜（天竺黄）
味甘，性凉。入手少阴心经。清凉心热，平镇肝风，通利关窍，辟除邪恶之气。消除神志昏昧谵妄，以及病后痰郁之症。
产于南海镛竹中。这种竹子极大，又名天竹，其内部黄色分泌物凝结成如竹节片状者为真品。其气味和功效与竹沥相同，但没有寒滑的副作用。

(Two types)
Averse to Gleditsiae Spina (Zaoci) and Sesame Seed (Youma).
Sweet, bland, slightly cool. Enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian, Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian, and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Clears cough with rebellious Qi rushing upward, eliminates wind-pathogen-induced irritability and heat, stops hematemesis, and promotes urination. When combined with Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), it clears fire from the Liver and Gallbladder.
When combined with Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Jupi), it treats rebellious Qi with fever. When assisted by Triticum Semen (Xiaomai) and Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), it treats jaundice caused by epidemic pathogens. Bitter bamboo is not used in medicine.
Bamboo Root
Bitter, cold. Can descend and clear heat toxins from the Five Zang organs. Contraindicated for those with Qi deficiency.
Bamboo Husk (Zhuyi)
Clears Lung fire and unblocks Lung Qi. Used to treat hoarseness or loss of voice due to deficient fire damaging the Metal (Lung). It refers to the white, paper-like inner membrane of the bamboo.
Bamboo Shavings (Zhuru)
Averse to Gleditsiae Spina (Zaoci) and Sesame Seed (Youma).
Sweet, slightly cold. Enters the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Clears fire in the Upper Jiao and resolves phlegm caused by deficient heat. Treats palpitations with fright, stops fetal restlessness, and treats vomiting, dysphagia, hematemesis, and metrorrhagia caused by internal fire; if not caused by this pathogenesis, this herb is ineffective. Combined with Egg Yolk (Jizi), it treats headache after drinking alcohol. Paired with Trichosanthis Semen (Louren), it treats postpartum relapse due to overexertion presenting with symptoms resembling stroke. Use the second layer after scraping off the green skin of bamboo that is thin-fleshed and has white frost between nodes.
Bamboo Sap (Zhuli)
Ginger Juice (Jiangzhi) serves as its guide. Averse to Gleditsiae Spina (Zaoci) and Sesame Seed (Youma).
Sweet, cold. Treats mania and oppression, benefits the nine orifices. Treats tetanus and stroke, stops fetal restlessness caused by physical trauma, nourishes blood, and brightens the eyes. For phlegm obstructing the meridians, limbs, chest, diaphragm, and the space outside the fascia, only this substance can penetrate and circulate. Combined with Ginger Juice, it treats phlegm due to wind-heat stagnation in stroke. Combined with Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Dihuang), it treats yin-deficiency heat in seasonal diseases. Contraindicated for those with cold-dampness in the stomach and intestines.
Heavenly Bamboo Honey (Tianzhuhuang/Fu Fenshuang)
Sweet, cool. Enters the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian. Cools heart heat, calms liver wind, benefits the orifices, and dispels evil influences. Eliminates confusion and delirium, and resolves phlegm stagnation after illness. Produced in the Nanxiang bamboo found in the South Sea. This bamboo is very large, also known as Tian Zhu (Heavenly Bamboo); the yellow secretion inside that solidifies into pieces resembling bamboo nodes is authentic. Its flavor, aroma, and efficacy are the same as Bamboo Sap, but without the cold and slippery side effects.

Treats blood disorders, applied externally to mouth sores and umbilical toxicity. Combined with tea infusion, it treats upper jiao asthma and急促 breathing.
