For those who have been hanged and are suspended high, slowly embrace them; do not cut the rope. Gently untie them, place them on bedding, and lay them flat. Slightly adjust the throat position. Have one person rub their chest to stimulate respiration, and another rub their limbs to induce flexion and extension. If the body is already stiff, gradually force the joints into flexion and press the abdomen. One person should wrap their foot in clothing and press against the anus to prevent gas leakage. After about the time it takes to eat a meal, breath will exit from the mouth, eyes will open, and breathing will resume. Avoid excessive exertion. Then administer Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) and rice gruel to moisten the throat. Additionally, have two people blow air into the ears using a pen tube. If this method is used, no one will fail to survive. This method can revive someone even if the body has become cold, provided the incident occurred from dawn until dusk. Revival is more difficult from dusk until dawn due to the prevalence of Yin Qi (Yin Energy). If the area below the heart remains slightly warm, revival is possible even after more than a day, with a hundred percent success rate. Another method: take equal parts of Xixin (Asarum Root) and Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit), grind them into powder, take an amount the size of a soybean, and blow it into both nostrils. Another method for severe cases where Qi (Vital Energy) has completely depleted from hanging: moxa-accumulate at Yongquan (Kidney 1, located in the center of the sole of the foot). For males, treat the left foot; for females, the right foot. Three moxa cones (Zhuang) are sufficient for revival. Another method: insert the beak of a live goose into the patient's mouth; if the goose honks in response, the patient will revive. Another method: prick the comb of a rooster, collect the blood, and drip it into the mouth for immediate revival. Do not灌 (irrigate/force-feed) tea or water. Another method: tightly cover the nose and mouth with hands to prevent airflow for about two hours; the resulting urgency of breath will trigger revival. Another method: take 2-3 fen of wild goat blood, grind it into an extremely fine powder, and wash it down with good wine for immediate recovery.

For those who have drowned, first use a knife to pry open the victim's mouth. Place a chopstick horizontally between the teeth to keep the mouth open, allowing water to drain. Alternatively, have a strong man bend the victim's legs over his shoulders, back-to-back, and carry them upside down while walking to drain the water, which will lead to revival. Another method: spread dry earth or wall soil on the ground. Lay the victim supine on the soil, then cover them with soil, exposing only the mouth and eyes. The moisture will naturally be absorbed by the soil, and the person will wake up. Immediately use bamboo tubes to alternately blow air into the mouth, ears, nose, umbilicus, and anus to establish connection between upper and lower pathways, leading to awakening. Another prescription: insufflate powder of Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome) into the nose. Another method: wrap Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) powder in cotton and plug the anus; water will discharge shortly, leading to revival. Another method: apply heated sand to the deceased's face, covering the body with sand but leaving the genitals, anus, eyes, ears, and nose exposed. Replace the sand when it becomes wet and cold; repeated changes will restore consciousness. Another method: instill half a cup of vinegar into the nasal cavity. Another method: drip rooster comb blood into the mouth and nose. Another method: suspend the victim upside down, irrigate the nasal cavity and lower body with good wine, remove wet clothes and navel debris, have two people blow air into the ears using pen tubes, then apply moxibustion to the umbilicus for several cones to achieve revival. Another method: use a ladder to hang the person upside down, stuff the nostrils full of salt; when the salt melts, the person wakes up. Pile salt on the umbilicus as well. Another method: irrigate with duck blood for immediate revival. Another method: upon retrieval, quickly pry open the mouth, place a chopstick horizontally to allow water drainage, blow air into both ears with a bamboo tube, insufflate crushed fresh Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome) into the nostrils, and place Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) powder in the tube to insufflate into the anus. If it is summer, place the victim's abdomen transversely across a cow's back, hold them steady on both sides, and lead the cow to walk slowly; water in the abdomen will naturally flow out from the mouth and through urination and defecation. Then administer Suhewan (Suhé Wán) dissolved in Shengjiang Tang (Fresh Ginger Decoction), or simply irrigate with ginger soup alone. If no cow is available, have a living person bend forward and lie prone, placing the victim's abdomen transversely across the living person's back, and shake the living person to expel the water. If there is no cow and no living person willing to help, place the victim on top of an inverted pot. If it is winter, urgently remove wet clothes and replace them. Simultaneously, heat salt wrapped in cloth and apply it to the umbilicus as a hot compress. Thickly layer quilts, spread abundant ash from the stove (unburnt grass ash) on top of the quilts, and have the victim lie prone on this bed. Place a cotton pillow under the umbilicus, and thoroughly cover the entire body with ash, adding more quilts on top. (Do not pry open the mouth; afterwards, allow slight consumption of rice gruel.) Another method: take a wine jar and a handful of paper. Burn the paper inside the jar, then urgently place the jar's opening over the umbilicus. When cool, burn more paper inside and repeat. Place the jar on the stretcher, gently tilt the corpse (placing a chopstick in the teeth is especially effective) to allow abdominal water to flow out. If water flows outward, there is hope for life. Use... to achieve survival.
