Cuttlebone (Hai Piao Xiao, 2 qian) and Realgar (Xiong Huang, 5 fen), ground together into powder, mixed with egg white for topical application. (Ibid.)
Realgar (Xiong Huang), Turtle Shell Head (Bie Tou, ground to yellow powder), Calomel (Qing Fen, 1 qian each), Scallion Tube (Cong Guan), Veratrum Viride Rhizome (Li Lu, 2 qian each, ground fine with flour), Borneol (Bing Pian, 2 fen). Grind all ingredients into a fine powder, mix evenly, and store in a porcelain jar. Subsequently apply the medicinal powder twice daily, morning and evening; the lesion will gradually retract. (*Guang Si Quan Shu*)
If one feels pregnant, select a whole lump of Realgar (Xiong Huang) weighing more than one liang, place it in a crimson cloth bag, and hang it at the crotch area, utilizing the principle that yang essence is complete due to its origin from the earth. (Ibid.)
Another method: Tie an axe under the bed of the pregnant woman, with the blade facing downwards, without letting others know. This is similar to testing hen eggs when they are brooding; placing the nest under the axe can verify if all chicks hatch as males. (*Qiu Si Mi Shu*)
Another method: Upon initially sensing pregnancy, choose two fixed days, tie an old bowstring around the waist without untying it, and remove it after one hundred days. This is the secret method of Zi Gong Yu Nu. (Ibid.)
Apply mud from the bottom of a well to the area below the umbilicus by more than two cun, protect it with cotton gauze, and change it after a while. (*Zheng Zhi Hui Bu*)
Sharpen a copper coin to cut open the lesion, then apply aged calcined stone (Chen Duan Shi); it will heal immediately. (*Tong Bian Fang*)

Grind all into powder. Sprinkle on the wound; full recovery within two days, miraculous effect. Also treats various sores with miraculous efficacy. (*Hua Xian Shi Fang*)
For retained placenta (Bao Yi Bu Xia), hold the infant securely and do not sever the umbilical cord abruptly. Have a dexterous elderly woman use her right index and middle fingers to press closely along the surface of the umbilical cord. At the end of the cord, insert the fingers upward by half a cun; if blood is felt, this indicates the placenta. Because the placenta has inverted, blood is trapped inside preventing expulsion. Press down on the placenta with the finger; as the blood flows out, the inverted placenta will naturally follow and descend. This method is very simple. Often, due to retained placenta, many take medications to assist, or induce vomiting. Worse still, some push against the abdomen with their feet, which can lead to death or severe illness. They fail to realize that the reason for the retained placenta is that after the infant passes through the birth canal, once the umbilical cord is cut, the placenta inevitably inverts upwards. Filthy blood drips down and fills the placenta; when the placenta is full of blood, it cannot descend. How could medication alone be effective? Let this serve as a warning to the world to avoid such disasters. (*Lu Zhu Tang Ji Yan Fang*)
