Take five jin of Chuan Dahuang (Rhizoma et Radix Rhei) with cotton-like texture, slice it thinly. Add one jin of distilled liquor and four liang of white honey, mix evenly. Prepare a willow-wood steamer, line the bottom with willow leaves about one cun thick. Soak two sheng of mung beans overnight. Take two jin of black lead, beat into thin sheets and cut into pieces, mix evenly with the soaked mung beans. Spread half of the lead-bean mixture on the willow leaves, cover with a piece of new summer cloth, then spread the Dahuang slices on top. Cover again with a piece of new summer cloth, then spread the remaining half of the lead-bean mixture, and finally cover completely with willow leaves. Steam for the time it takes to burn seven large incense sticks. After cooling, remove from the steamer, discard the willow leaves and lead-beans, only keep the Dahuang, dry it in the sun and expose it to night dew. Repeat this process nine times for later use.
Then take one liang of Wumei meat (Fructus Mume), one liang of Bohe leaves (Herba Menthae Haplocalycis), one liang of Zhike (Fructus Aurantii, stir-fried with bran), one liang of Guangmuxiang (Radix Aucklandiae, avoid heat), one liang of Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), one liang of Jianhuo (Note: likely a specific processing term or typo in original, retained as is), and Gouqizi (Fructus Lycii). Add more than ten jin of water and decoct into juice. Concentrate to approximately three jin, filter out the dregs, and take the clear juice to soak the aforementioned nine-processed Dahuang until the juice is fully absorbed. Then dry it and store it in a porcelain jar for compounding subsequent medicines.
Take eight qian of Xuanmingfen (Natrii Sulfas, nine-processed), five qian of Qingmengshi (Lapis Oligistae, seven-processed), five qian of Guanbaisha (Borax), eight qian of Zhenxuehupo (Succinum), and three qian of Jiaochenshen (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum, ground into fine powder and purified by water flotation method). Grind these nine medicinal ingredients together into an extremely fine powder. Weigh one jin of the previously prepared nine-processed Dahuang, grind it into powder, and mix evenly with the above powder. Use Wenhai paste (Paste of Clam Shell) as a binder to make pills, and coat or mix with Jinbo (Gold Leaf) and Zhusha (Cinnabar).
Method for preparing Wenhai paste: Take eight liang of Wenhai (Concha Meretricis), stir-fry in a pot until yellow, then grind into powder. Put into a flat-bottomed porcelain bottle. Decoct with strong tea juice for one day, stirring constantly. [Text implies adding other processed herbs here]. Decoct the above medicines to obtain two large cups of juice, add the clam paste, and decoct again into a paste to compound the previous medicines.
