*Micro-fried* Radix Asteris (Zi Wan) is ground into powder, and Semen Armeniacae Amarum (Xing Ren), peeled and cored, is ground into a paste. Mixed in equal proportions, they are formed into pills the size of Fructus Euryales (Qian Shi) using refined honey. Take one pill per dose, decocted with seven grains of Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wu Wei Zi).
Semen Lepidii et Descurainiae (Ting Li Zi), stir-fried between papers and ground into powder, is mixed with date pulp to form pills the size of a longan seed. Take one pill per dose, dissolved in warm water.
Radix Bletillae (Chuan Bei Mu), five qian, is moistened with light ginger juice and steamed over rice. Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis (Gan Cao), two qian and five fen, half raw and half roasted, is finely ground. Mixed with sugar, it forms pills the size of a longan seed. Take one pill per dose, dissolved in rice drink.
One cup of fresh ginger juice and four liang of refined honey are kept ready. For each dose, mix one spoonful of ginger juice with two spoonfuls of honey, diluted with warm water. Take five times daily.
This syndrome arises from blazing Heart Fire, where heat collides with blood. Symptoms may start on the limbs or erupt on the head, face, chest, and back, migrating up and down. The skin appears red like cinnabar and patterned like brocade, accompanied by severe pain. Cases spreading from the chest and abdomen to the limbs are easy to treat; those invading from the limbs into the chest and abdomen are difficult. The method should involve *Bian* therapy (stone pricking to release blood) to remove bad blood, and internally administer *Huangxie Dan* (from *Jicheng*), see "Dysentery," to prevent internal attack leading to convulsions. If physicians do not know needle and stone therapy, but merely use inappropriate topical applications, it will inevitably lead to convulsions and death. Alternatively, *Lianqiao Baidu San* (see "Mistaken Convulsion") can be taken, adding Fructus Arctii (Niu Bang) is also acceptable.
*Ceramic Bian Method*: See "Erysipelas" below.
General treatment for ten types of erysipelas: All seen below under "Erysipelas."
Regarding sores, boils, scabies, and tinea, children suffer from them most frequently. Treatment should focus on clearing heat and detoxifying, and employing internal support to resolve toxins. If toxins are not resolved first, mistakenly applying toxic drugs like arsenic or sulfur externally forces the toxin inward. This causes sores to suddenly flatten, resulting in abdominal distension, constipation, dark urine, pale complexion, closed eyes, and limb convulsions. This is due to internal invasion of toxic qi. It differs from surgical carbuncles and ulcers caused by occasional wind-damp injury leading to limb spasms. This condition requires rapid administration of *Xionghuang Jiedu Wan* to induce mild purgation. If sores erupt, it is auspicious; if they do not erupt and wheezing occurs, death ensues. Formula seen below under "Zhong'e."
This syndrome begins with dietary injury followed by wind-cold contraction. Evil and righteous qi contend, causing severe colic pain in the heart and abdomen. Those with vomiting and diarrhea have slightly milder symptoms. Those unable to vomit or defecate experience restlessness and confusion, commonly known as "Dry Huoluan" or "Intestinal Colic Sha." This syndrome is extremely urgent. Quickly administer salt water to induce vomiting, then use *Huoxiang Zhengqi San* to differentiate and regulate Yin and Yang.
*Huoxiang Zhengqi San*: Treats internal spleen-stomach injury, external wind-cold contraction, vomiting, diarrhea, and Huoluan.
Ingredients: Ramulus Agastachis (Huoxiang Zhi), Folium Perillae (Zisu Ye), Pericarpium Arecae Catechu (Dafupi), Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae (Guangpi), Radix Platycodonis (Jiegeng), Poria (Yunling), Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum (Fa Banxia), Massa Medicata Fermentata (Shenqu), Radix Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi) (each 1 qian); Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Chuan Nongpu), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Zhi Gancao) (each 5 fen); Ginger (3 slices), Date (3 pieces). Decoct in water and take.
For Huoluan with vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, hot water is contraindicated; violating this leads to death. Wait until two hours after vomiting and diarrhea cease, and after taking medicine when stomach qi slightly recovers and thirst arises, before drinking.
For Huoluan vomiting where medication and food cannot be retained, quickly mix one cup of newly drawn water with one cup of rolling boiling water, named *Yinyang Tang*. Drink a few mouthfuls to settle.
For phlegm-malaria and stagnant food/toxic substances obstructing the middle jiao, causing abdominal distension and impending Huoluan, urgently drink salt water to induce complete vomiting of phlegm and food, bringing relief.
If all medicines fail for Huoluan vomiting and diarrhea, grind twenty-one green beans and twenty-one peppercorns finely. Decoct in water to make one zhong, add one zhong of newly drawn water, mix and take for immediate relief. Another formula: take one or two qian of *Liuyi San*, mixed with strong ginger tea, especially effective in summer. *Liuyi San* is *Yiyuan San*, seen above under "Heatstroke."
