Use olive pits, grind them into a thick juice with vinegar, and apply it several times using a duck feather for immediate effect.
When pediatric toxic qi attacks the cheeks, causing alarming redness and swelling: take two liang of Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Zaojiao, 皂角), two qian of Aconiti Kusnezoffii Rhizoma Crude (Sheng Nanning, 生南星), and one he of Glutinous Rice (Nuomi, 糯米), grind them together into powder, mix with Ginger Juice (Jiangzhi, 姜汁) to apply, yielding immediate results. For further details, refer to the Surgery section.
HT Tou (Yellow Head Disease), also known as Huang Tou: This condition presents as a swelling on the crown of an infant's head, initially white then turning red. If untreated, the yellow discharge increases, accompanied by smaller lesions appearing around, resembling "a hundred birds paying homage to the king." Based on the size of the swelling, take half a Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Zhike, 枳壳), remove the pulp, mix raw ash flour into a paste, apply this paste to the rim of the Zhike, and place it over the lesion like a Taoist crown to draw out the toxic fluid. Once it falls off naturally and the swelling subsides slightly, use half a smaller Zhike in the same manner; the moisture will dry up. After it falls off naturally, within six or seven days, the swelling will flatten and fine hair may grow. Another prescription: peel one whole skin from a live Bufo bufo gargarizans (Huama, 活虾蟆) and apply it directly to the sore for miraculous effect. Another prescription: mash large frog meat, add a small amount of Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片), spread on the affected area for immediate relief.

Huma Wan (Sesamum Seed Pill): Pediatric Me Chuang (Syphilis) is a most malignant condition. If it erupts in the first or second lunar month, or within half a week, it is particularly difficult to treat because the toxin is congenital, and medicinal formulas cannot act instantly. One should first administer Huma Wan.
Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen, 苦参, five qian), Polygoni Multiflori Preparatus (Shouwu, 首乌, steamed), Sesami Nigrum Semen (Huma, 胡麻, stir-fried), Viticis Trifoliae Fructus (Manjingzi, 蔓荆子, stir-fried), Clematis Chinensis Radix (Weilingxian, 威灵仙, stir-fried), Schizonepetae Herba (Jingjie, 荆芥, roasted), Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina (Zaojiaoci, 皂角刺, stir-fried, three qian each), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲), Chrysanthemi Indici Flos (Baijuhua, 白菊花, two qian each).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder, make pills using rice paste prepared with wine. Take three qian per dose, adjusted for the child's age, administered with decoction of Bamboo Leaves (Zhuye, 竹叶). After taking the pills for twenty-one days (three sevens), only then apply topical medicaments. The sores will heal completely within three days. Topical application must not be done too early, lest the internal toxins remain unexpelled.
Topical Medicament for Me Chuang: Must be used only after twenty-one days of taking Huma Wan. Take one and a half liang of Prunus armeniaca var. ansu Semen (Beixingren, 北杏仁), soak in hot water to remove the skin, wrap in cotton paper, and slowly pound with a wooden hammer to remove the oil. Change the paper dozens of times until a white powder remains, known as Xingshuang (Apricot Frost). For every one qian of Xingshuang, add eight fen of Calomelas (Qingfen, 轻粉) and one fen of Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄). First, wash the sores clean with a strong decoction of Sophorae Flos (Huaihua, 槐花). If the sore is moist, apply the dry powder; if dry, mix with Pig Bile (Zhudanyin, 猪胆汁) for application. Cure within three days.
