Treatment for Blood Bi (Blood Stasis Syndrome characterized by numbness and pain due to impaired blood circulation) accompanied by palpitations, with spasms and tightness of tendons and vessels.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dai Zhe Shi (Hematitum), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix).
The Jueyin Liver governs Blood and stores Hun (Ethereal Soul). When Blood flow is obstructed by Bi syndrome, the Hun becomes chaotic. If one fails to unblock the Blood but only treats the palpitations, this is a misguided approach. Therefore, Ren Shen is used as the Sovereign herb to promote Blood circulation; Huang Qi, Rou Gui, Dang Gui, and Chuan Xiong are used as Ministers. Since Dai Zhe Shi specializes in unblocking Liver Blood, it assists where Ren Shen falls short. A small amount of Qiang Huo is added as an Envoy. Generally, Qi is the commander of Blood; when Qi is robust, Blood flows. However, it is necessary to use Rou Gui and Dang Gui to greatly warm the Blood, preemptively dispelling cold-dampness, because the Jueyin channel governs Wind; once Wind is expelled, Cold-Dampness naturally cannot remain.
Treatment for Qi and Blood stagnation, spasticity and contracture of hands and feet, and Bi syndromes caused by the combination of Wind-Cold-Dampness.

Yu Jiayan stated: This formula uses Ren Shen and Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction); within this array of tonifying herbs, Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) and Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix) are added to overcome Wind-Dampness, Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus Medullary Part) to overcome Cold, and Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) and Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) to... Treatment for stroke resulting in locked jaw (Trismus). The Foot-Yangming Stomach meridian passes through the Jiache acupoint and enters the gum crevices. When invaded by Wind-Cold, mild cases present with trembling and gnashing of teeth, while severe cases result in locked jaw. There are also cases of stroke where the mouth remains open and cannot close; this indicates the tendons have already failed, which is untreatable.
Rub the gums with W Mei (Mume Fructus); once saliva flows, the jaw will open.
Sour flavor first enters the tendons; Wood controls Earth. (Sour belongs to Wood, the Yangming Stomach belongs to Earth.) This causes the jaw muscles to feel sore and relaxed, allowing the mouth to open. If iron tools are used to pry it open, there is a risk of damaging the teeth.
