Pihong Yanzhi (Base Rouge), Zhen Lvdou Fen (True Mung Bean Powder).
Grind the above ingredients together until uniform, and apply externally to the affected area.
This prescription was transmitted by Chu Rixin, originating from the family of Xie Jingyu.
Heluo Le (Terminalia chebula Retz.), Binglang (Areca catechu L.). (Select those shaped like a chicken heart, five of each.)
Take two and a half of each ingredient, process them to retain their medicinal properties; take the remaining two and a half raw. Cut them into coarse fragments. Divide into four doses. Use two large bowls of water, add thirty leaves of fresh Zisu (Perilla frutescens var. acuta), or add ten more leaves if using aged leaves. Decoct until reduced to "ba fa" (an ancient measure indicating a specific concentration/volume). Take orally when symptoms occur, while half-hungry and half-full. In urgent cases, do not restrict the timing.
Treating Ben Tun Qi (a syndrome characterized by the sensation of gas rushing upward from the lower abdomen to the chest and throat), Prescription of Magistrate Ma Mengshan.
Jinlingzi (Evodiae Fructus, also known as Meliae Fructus in some contexts, here referring to *Melia azedarach* fruit or *Evodia rutaecarpa* depending on interpretation, typically *Meliae Fructus* in Song texts for pain relief), cut each into four pieces, stir-fried together with Banjiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) half a liang, removing the silk and mouthparts, until fragrant and cooked through, then discard the Bombyx Batryticatus. Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), lightly stir-fried. Malin Hua (Iris lactea var. chinensis flower). Wuzhuyu (Euodiae Fructus), washed seven times with hot water, stir-fried until fragrant and cooked. Shizhuyu (Corni Fructus, often synonymous with Shanzhuyu in older texts, but distinguished here likely as *Cornus officinalis*), soaked in wine, stir-fried until fragrant and cooked. Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus). Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride). Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). (The above ingredients.)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Make pills using wine paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 30-50 pills per dose, before meals, with warm wine or salted water.
Two prescriptions by Ye Daoren.
Mutoutou (Ficus hirta Vahl. inflorescence), dried, four liang, finely chopped. First stir-fry the peel in a ding (ancient cooking vessel), then add the seeds, stir-frying both until yellow. Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), two liang, stir-fried.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with wine, taken on an empty stomach.
Decoct Wuzhuyu (Euodiae Fructus) over ten grains in three fen zhen of wine and three fen zhen of vinegar. Wait for it to boil two or three times. Use this liquid to mix with Sanqian Pingwei San (Three-Qian Pingwei Powder), take three qian, on an empty stomach. I have personally taken this medicine, and it is indeed effective, though it cannot cure the root cause.
Disperses cold qi, also treats Ben Tun Qi.
Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), stir-fried. Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), half a liang each. Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma), three liang, stir-fried with sesame oil. Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), three qian, honey-fried or roasted. Baidoukou Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus seed kernel), four qian.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take two qian per dose, add a little salt, mix with boiling water, take before meals.
Also known as Zizheng Wan, transmitted by Wang Jilao.
Duhuixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), one jin. Immerse in the natural juice extracted from two jin of old ginger overnight, until the ginger juice is fully absorbed by the fennel. Stir-fry together with two liang of good green salt until red. Remove, dry by baking, grind and sieve into a fine powder. Make pills using non-ashy wine paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 30 or 5 pills daily on an empty stomach before meals. Effective. Most medicines for treating hernia (Shan Qi) rely on dredging and guiding methods, which can be harmful over time. This prescription uses ginger juice specifically to disperse, avoiding the harm caused by dredging.
