Apply earwax to the affected area for immediate cure; this is miraculous and highly effective.
Select porcelain shards from Raozhou, choosing those that are fine-grained, white in color, exposed to sunlight, and irradiated by the sun. The quantity is not limited; do not use those kept in the shade. Remove the bottom feet, wipe off the dirt, and there is no need to wash them. Make a nest-like container with yellow clay, place the porcelain shards inside, and then seal and solidify it into a ball with more yellow clay. Burn it red-hot in a stove using firewood. Alternatively, grind it into a fine powder and then put it into a mortar. Grind it until it becomes like powder and makes no sound. Each time, take an amount equivalent to one ear scoop and sprinkle it on the sore for immediate healing.
Fox thorn (Huli Ci) usually occurs due to injury from foreign objects between the fingers or toes, resulting in sores that are unbearably painful and may even lead to finger loss. There are two types: male fox thorn has only one sore head, while female fox thorn has seven sore heads that emerge sequentially. Yellow fluid flows incessantly from the sore heads. When viewed under sunlight, silk-web-like structures appear on and around the sore heads, resembling tangled threads inside the sore. It is extremely painful, making the area untouchable, especially if there are thorns present within. When applying medication, first rinse the sore with warm salt water held in the mouth, dry it with a soft cloth, apply the medicine into the wound opening. The fluid will dry up, pain will cease, and one application leads to cure. For female fox thorn, apply the medicine to the first outbreak of sores, which will stabilize the condition; other sores do not need treatment. According to the family prescription of Li Minqiu, Director of Studies in Chuzhou, this formula was obtained from a passing soldier during wartime chaos. Later, he distributed this medicine and cured thousands. When grinding, a Raozhou porcelain mortar must be used; otherwise, stone mortars would introduce stone dust into the powder, rendering it unsuitable for application.
In Huzhou, it is called Water Thorn (Shui Ci); in Yuezhou, it is called Water Han (Shui Han).
Zhao Junyou stated: Take charcoal ash from the furnace, apply it dry to the swollen and red area, and pour good rice vinegar over it. Using more of these two materials is acceptable; replace them when their efficacy diminishes.
Prescription transmitted by Palace Envoy Hua:
Centipede with golden head (one whole specimen), Cuprum Carbonis Viride (Copper Green), Chalcanthite (Danfan) (each 1 qian), Sepia Endoconcha (Wuyu Gu) (2 qian), Moschus (Shexiang) (1 zi).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Dip a needle in oil, apply the medicine onto the site. If the sore is not broken, moxibustion should be used to break it before applying the medicine.
