Treatment for cough with rebellious Qi. The acupoint is located one finger-width below the nipple, in the depression between the bones directly aligned with the nipple. For women, measure using a bent nipple; the tip of the nipple indicates the point. Use moxa cones the size of a small bean, apply three moxibustion units (*zhuang*). Treat the left side for men and the right side for women, at only one location. Healing occurs when the heat reaches the muscle. *Liang Fang* records: A member of a clan suffered from cholera-like vomiting and diarrhea, was near death, and suddenly developed cough with rebellious Qi, leading to critical danger. Another case involved Chen Zhongyu suffering from severe cough with rebellious Qi due to cold damage. Both were cured with a single application of moxibustion. Therefore, cough with rebellious Qi appearing in cases of cold damage or chronic illness is considered an ominous sign. When herbal medicine fails, moxibustion will surely be effective. If it remains ineffective after moxibustion, the patient is likely incurable.
Wang Shi stated: There are ten types of cough: wind cough, cold cough, branch cough, gallbladder cough, jueyin cough, and five-zang coughs. *Qian Jin Fang* details their acupuncture methods extensively.
However, cough caused by cold damage is considered an ominous syndrome. The father of Supervisor Shi suffered from severe cough due to cold damage; physicians declared they had exhausted their skills. Shi Jian consulted the acupuncture classics and applied three moxibustion units below the laryngeal prominence (Tian Tu CV2), resulting in immediate recovery. Truly miraculous!
Treatment for all types of persistent cough with rebellious Qi (from *Jisheng Bacui Fang*). Left side for men, right side for women. At the area where black hair ends below the nipple, approximately the width of a leek leaf, apply three moxibustion units. For severe cases, apply fourteen units.
Treatment for cough with chest fullness, asthma, and sudden onset of cough with rebellious Qi. Acupoint: Qu Ze (PC3). Apply bloodletting for immediate cessation.
