Chronic deafness refers to deafness that persists for a long time. Its pathogenesis lies in the deficiency of the Kidney, insufficient Qi and Blood, leading to the stagnation of Wind pathogen within the body. The Foot Shaoyin (Kidney) meridian is the gathering point of the Zong Mai (Major Vessels), and its Qi connects to the ears. If the Kidneys are injured by overwork, the Zong Mai will become deficient; since Qi and Blood have declined, Wind pathogen will take advantage of the deficiency to enter, causing deafness that does not heal for a long time. If the injury from overwork is too severe, the pathogenic factor flows and stagnates, thus forming chronic deafness.
