Each of the Five Zang Organs has its own dominion. When diseases manifest, they invariably appear according to the organ they affect. Redness of the face, excessive laughter, ulceration of the tongue, dry mouth, dry lips, and heat in the palms.

Urgency). A soggy (Ru) pulse indicates
Exterior deficiency with interior excess.
A deficient pulse leads to palpitations/fright. Deficient muscle flesh leads to heaviness. Deficient tendons lead to tension. Deficient bones lead to pain. Deficient marrow leads to collapse (osteoporosis/marrow depletion). Deficient intestines lead to loose stools. When the Three Yang channels are Excess and the Three Yin channels are Deficient, there is no sweating. When the Three Yin channels are Excess and the Three Yang channels are Deficient, sweating does not stop. Furthermore, if the pulse is floating and slow, with spontaneous sweating and aversion to wind, the treatment method should be to resolve the muscle layer (Jie Ji). If the pulse is floating and tight, with no sweating and aversion to cold, the treatment method should be to induce sweating (Fa Han). These are exterior diseases, one being deficiency and the other excess. If the pulse is hidden (Fu) and firm (Lao), with abdominal pain and constipation, the treatment method should be to purge (Xia). If the pulse is deep (Chen) and weak, with cold extremities and spontaneous diarrhea, the treatment method should be to warm (Wen). These are interior diseases, one being excess and the other deficiency. Symptoms of interior excess include hardness and fullness below the heart, pain and distension in the intestines, obstruction of both bowels, and dry heaving without anything coming out; this is fatal. Symptoms of interior deficiency include cold extremities, restlessness, irritability, and continuous vomiting and diarrhea; this leads to death.
Li Jutu stated in *Yi Jian Fang Lun*: The normal pulse of the Liver comes gently and softly, like touching elm catkins. The normal pulse of the Heart comes continuously and roundly, like touching lapis lazuli.
The Spleen's pulse is soggy and slippery, like the beak of a sparrow.
The pathological pulse of the Liver comes solid and increasingly slippery, like touching a long bamboo pole. The pathological pulse of the Heart comes continuously connected, slightly curved within. The pathological pulse of the Spleen comes solid and full, slightly rapid.
The dying pulse of the Liver comes urgent and increasingly rigid, like a newly strung bowstring. The dying pulse of the Heart comes curved at the beginning and straight at the end, like handling a hooked belt. The dying pulse of the Spleen comes sharp
and hard, like
