The Small Intestine Fu organ is governed by the Heart. The tongue serves as its external manifestation. The Heart and Small Intestine are internally-externally related. The Small Intestine is the Fu organ responsible for receiving and storing, often referred to as the "Official of Granary Supervision," weighing two jin and fourteen liang.
When disease occurs in the Small Intestine, there is pain in the lower abdomen, pain radiating from the lumbar spine to the testicles, and frequent sensations of urgency and distress. There may be heat in the front of the ears, or when cold is severe, heat isolated to the shoulder, and heat in the little finger and ring finger. Pain in the lower abdomen may radiate to the testicles, connect with the lumbar spine, and rush upward to the heart. When pathogenic factors reside in the Small Intestine, they connect to the spermatic cord, relate to the spine, penetrate the Liver and Lungs, and network with the Heart system. Excess Qi leads to reversal (Jue) downward.
If the Yang pulse at the Cun Kou position before the Guan on the left hand is absent (Yang Jue), it indicates the absence of the Small Intestine pulse. The patient suffers from Bi obstruction at the umbilicus, masses (Shan Zha) in the lower abdomen, and primarily experiences cold Qi rushing up to the heart monthly. Treatment involves needling the Pericardium channel master points.
Cold in the Small Intestine causes a sensation of heaviness in the lower part and pus-blood in the stool; Heat in the Small Intestine inevitably leads to hemorrhoids.
Food retention in the Small Intestine causes fever in the evening which subsides by the next morning. Distension of the Small Intestine causes abdominal distension and pain radiating to the abdomen.
Disease originating in the Heart transfers to the Small Intestine; if Heart Cough persists, Qi and cough are expelled together.
Rebellious Qi lodging in the Small Intestine causes dreams of gathering in city streets.
The Heart corresponds to the vessels. Thick skin correlates with thick vessels; thick vessels correlate with a thick-walled Small Intestine. Thin skin correlates with thin vessels; thin vessels correlate with a thin-walled Small Intestine. Lax skin correlates with slow pulses; slow pulses correlate with... [text cuts off].
Bian Que stated: The Hand-Shaoyin Heart Channel and the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel are exterior-interior pairs. Thus, the exterior is clear and the interior is turbid; clarity is solid and turbidity is empty. Therefore, after eating, the intestines become full while the stomach becomes empty, so the Fu organs are full but... [text cuts off].
Small Intestine exhaustion is incurable and leads to death within six days. How is this known? The hair stands stiff like dry hemp, the body cannot bend or stretch, and spontaneous sweating does not cease.
The Small Intestine is the Official of Reception and Storage, the Fu organ of the Heart. Its meridian is the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel. Excess Qi manifests as excess syndromes, hence the... [text cuts off] ...at the Ren Ying position anterior to the Cun Kou on the left hand.
