The so-called Feng Jing (Wind-induced Palpitation/Fright) arises from weak constitution and deficiency of Xin Qi (Heart Qi), allowing Wind Evil to invade. The Heart stores Shen (Spirit) and governs blood vessels. Deficiency of Heart Qi leads to blood deficiency; blood deficiency causes chaotic blood flow; chaotic blood flow causes Qi to merge with Blood. When Qi and Blood merge and are invaded by Wind Evil, fright easily occurs, causing restlessness of the Heart Spirit, termed Feng Jing. It is also said that Feng Jing results from Heart Qi deficiency, where Wind Evil disturbs and unsettles the Heart. The *Neijing* states: "The Heart is the monarch official, from whom Shen emerges." It also says: "If the ruler is clear, the subjects are peaceful." Now, with Heart Qi deficiency, Wind Evil invades, Yin and Yang are disharmonious, emotions are confused, Hun and Po (ethereal and corporeal souls) scatter, hence actions involve much fright. It is also said that once a patient... diet was unchanged, stool was normal, urine slightly yellow. Observing the symptom location, it belongs to the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian, involving the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. Since Jia corresponds to Gallbladder and Yi to Liver, the color is green; yellow corresponds to Spleen. Palpating the Gallbladder pulse reveals it is small, indicating this is due to fright. Fright causes the Gallbladder to receive evil, leading to the presence of fright-phlegm and green fluid in the abdomen. Therefore, Zhou Che Wan (Boat Cart Pill) 150 pills were used, Xunchuan San (Abyss River Powder) 4-5 qian, with a large addition of Shengjiang Ziran Zhi (Fresh Ginger Juice). In the early morning, four or five passages of green fluid were indeed discharged. Someone asked why add such a large amount of ginger? For instance, when Gallbladder Wood overacts on Stomach Earth, this Earth cannot withstand Wood. The unable Qi seeks rescue from its son organ; Ji Earth generates Geng Metal. Geng corresponds to Large Intestine, and pungent flavor corresponds to Metal. Adding large amounts of ginger acts like attacking Wood. However, without first opening the Spleen Earth, the medicinal power cannot travel. Thus, Zhou Che Wan was used first to open blocked pathways, which is first purging what it cannot overcome (referring to the cycle of overcoming), then using Ginger Juice to mix with Xunchuan San for strong purgation, which is subsequently purging what it overcomes (Liver Wood overacting on Spleen Earth). Generally, Yang stems overcome Yang stems, Fu organs overcome Zang organs.
