Wind-xuan syndrome in women is caused by wind pathogen invading due to constitutional deficiency. The wind pathogen enters the brain. The essence of all zang-fu organs flows upward into the eyes. Qi and blood, along with the meridians, ascend and connect to the brain, thereby producing symptoms of dizziness (xuan).
It is also stated: A woman in her forties suffered from pain in the supraorbital region above the ear, commonly known as lateral headache (pian tou tong). This condition persisted for five to seven years. Each time the pain occurred, her stool was dry and hard like a pellet. The pulse was rapid and surging. The condition gradually worsened and could not be relieved. This illustrates the principle that "pain decreases with unblocking." After taking three doses of medicine, her vision cleared, her head felt light, and the dryness and constipation were resolved, ultimately leading to recovery through moistening and purging methods.
It is also stated: All cases of wind-headache and dizziness in women, dizziness while riding in carriages or boats, dry eyes, numbness of hands and feet, hair loss, forgetfulness, and irritability are caused by retained phlegm in the chest.
