As for women suffering from wind-bi (Wind Obstruction Syndrome), it arises from the combination of wind, cold, and dampness pathogenic factors leading to bi syndrome. When wind pathogen predominates, it is termed wind-bi. The clinical manifestation involves pain throughout the skin and muscles.
All yang meridians originate from the hands.
Women experiencing arm pain, with tendons and vessels becoming spasmodic and tight, unable to flex or extend, and symptoms worsening upon exposure to cold, are caused by liver blood deficiency allowing wind-cold pathogenic factors to invade the blood vessels and lodge in the collaterals, clashing with healthy qi.
Sometimes the pain may shift to the other arm. This is due to latent phlegm at the Zhongwan (CV12) acupoint, where spleen qi stagnation prevents smooth flow. The stagnant qi clashes upward with pathological qi. Since the four limbs are governed by the spleen, spleen qi stagnation causes qi to fail to descend and instead attack upwards into the arms, resulting in pain. The pulse is deep and fine. It is appropriate to take Fuling Wan (Poria Pill) and Kongyan Dan (Controlling Phlegm Elixir).
