Treats men and women suffering from *Shilao* (consumption due to dietary irregularities) and *Qilao* (consumption due to emotional imbalance), presenting with generalized yellowish edema, which is about to transform into *Shuizhong* (edema disease), as well as long-standing *Piji* (abdominal masses), involvement of the Small Intestine and Bladder, and complete yellowing of the face and eyes.
Danfan (Alum, 3 liang) Huangla (Yellow Beeswax, 1 liang) Qingzhou Zao (Jujubes from Qingzhou, 50 pieces).
Place the above ingredients in a porcelain container. Add five sheng of Toucu (first-press vinegar). First add the Alum and Jujubes, simmer over a slow fire for half a day. Remove the Jujubes, peel them, and remove the pits. Then add the Beeswax and boil together until it becomes a paste. Add two liang of fine Lacha (aged tea powder) and mix thoroughly. Form pills the size of Sophora seeds (Wuzi). Take 20–30 pills per dose, swallowed with either tea or wine at will. For long-standing Changfeng Zhilou (hemorrhoids and fistulas caused by intestinal wind), swallow with Chenmi Yin (water decoction of aged rice).
Zongshi Zhao Yancai suffered from hematochezia, his face was sallow like wax, and he could not eat; this was due to alcohol-induced illness. He was prescribed this formula. After completing the course, the bleeding stopped, his complexion became fresh and lustrous, and his appetite doubled. A soldier in Xin'an had similar symptoms; given 300 pills to be taken in ten doses, he also recovered.
To treat accumulated deposits, use Yinggan Wan. (The amounts of Dingxiang [Clove] and Muxiang [Aucklandiae Radix] used here are less than one liang each compared to the *Guanju Fang*; this is likely intended to rapidly eliminate stagnation. If used for long-term maintenance or for the elderly and children who are timid and weak, caution should be exercised.)
Dingxiang (Clove) Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 0.5 liang) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, 1 liang, processed) Baicaoshuang (Soot from burning various herbs, 2 liang, ground) Roudoukou (Nutmeg, 20 pieces) Badou (Croton Seed, 60 pieces, oil pressed to make Badou Shuang/Rhubarb-like paste) Xingren (Apricot Kernel, 140 pieces, skin and tip removed) Mahua (Hemp Oil, 1 liang; increase by 0.5 liang in autumn/winter, decrease Huangla/Beeswax by 0.5 liang) Zhujiulang (Wine-boiled Beeswax, 4 liang).
Grind the two aromatic herbs (Muxiang, Dingxiang), Ganjiang, and Roudoukou into a fine powder. Grind the other three ingredients extremely evenly. Mix with refined oil and beeswax to form a dough. Wrap in oiled paper. Form pills the size of mung beans as needed. Swallow 5–7 pills with cooked water. This medicine has been widely popular in recent years, with several formulas existing; only this one truly belongs to the Gao family lineage. I obtained it from Wang Jingchang, and its efficacy is indeed accurate.
