After administering Zhuling Tang (Polyporus Decoction), the dysentery observed has decreased by half, and the pathogenic factors transformed within the body have also reduced by half. Consequently, the swelling of the lips has subsided, the coating on the teeth has cleared, and the wiry and rapid pulse on the right side has become moderated and harmonious, which seems to be a favorable omen. However, the pulse on the left is fine and thin; upon deep pressure, it still lacks spirit (Shen). Additionally, there is a wiry quality at the Guan position. A wiry pulse indicates Liver pathology, while a fine, thin, and spiritless pulse indicates deficiency of True Yin. Due to this deficiency of True Yin, it is difficult to nourish and anchor Liver Wood. Thus, Liver Wood easily overacts upon Spleen Earth. If Spleen Earth retains its authority, often after the pathogenic factors are resolved, the appetite gradually opens, and hope for vitality emerges. This occurs because the fluids in the Stomach were previously injured by heat, and further depleted by dysentery. With both injury and depletion, there is no desire for food, accompanied by dry retching and nausea. These are cases where fluid depletion causes disease, and fluid exhaustion brings disaster. Regarding the pathogenic factors entrenched in the intestines, the pain persists and does not diminish upon pressure, but the location has moved closer to the lower abdomen and is no longer connected to the hypochondrium. The momentum suggests downward movement, yet it has not yet merged into the Large Intestine. Even if it causes future trouble, it may merely result in an abscess or blood stasis, allowing for gradual treatment. However, with so many manifestations of deficiency arising and changes occurring in the eyes and eyebrows (indicating critical or abnormal signs), can one not feel fear? Therefore, one must adhere to the instruction of "Seven Deficiencies and Seven Excesses, supporting the righteous Qi first," to restore Yuan Qi from the realm of non-being (the root of vitality), and then seek a chance for recovery. Pending correction by Mr. Zheng.

Palpitations originated and transmitted into tremors, followed by restlessness during sleep and wakefulness. The left pulse is fine and soft; the right Guan pulse is wiry and rapid. Rapid indicates Fire, wiry indicates Phlegm, and fine/soft indicates Deficiency. The deficiency lies in the Liver and Kidney, combined with Phlegm-Fire, which knots in the Spleen and Stomach. Hence, the limbs are weak, the mouth is dry, and the body aches. Since using the Ben Gu (Solidify the Root) method for consecutive days has brought comfort, no changes are needed. However, since Phlegm-Fire prevails internally, if one does not use Shi Wei Wen Dan Tang (Ten-Ingredient Gallbladder-Warming Decoction) with modifications as an adjunct, aiming to address both root and branch, ensuring that the deficient do not become more deficient, I wonder if this is appropriate? Discussed with Mr. Tong Shipan Zhu Xiang.
