Jinrenbai (Human Urine Deposit).
Salty, neutral in nature, non-toxic. Overuse is harmful.
[Invention] Jinrenbai can purge Liver Fire and Bladder Fire, allowing pathogens to exit via urination, as the Bladder is its original pathway. Currently, it is effective in treating various sores of the mouth and tongue, which verifies its fire-reducing efficacy; however, accumulated dirt residue only clears heat and lacks any yin-nourishing function.
Salty, warm in nature, non-toxic. Method for Yin-refined Light Qiushi: Take a large vat, burn about thirty moxa sticks near the bottom at approximately three cun to create a hole, and plug it with a fir wood stopper. In autumn, collect child's urine into the vat, mix with river water, let settle and clarify, remove the wood stopper, drain the upper water, add fresh child's urine and river water daily, stirring as before, retaining only the sediment at the bottom. After accumulating for over a month, filter through silk cloth lined with paper, drain, and store. Another method for Yin-collected Qiushi: Take dozens of lead balls the size of a fist, each made of two halves, drill many small holes, and soak them in a urine bucket. Discard old urine daily and replace with fresh urine. Collect after an autumn cycle and store in a lead jar; this is the best method. Method for Yang-refined Qiushi: Take hundreds of straw sandals, preferably old ones, rinse and sun-dry in running water for seven days to remove yellow color, then soak in a urine bucket. Sun-dry by day and soak by night for about a month, dry thoroughly, burn to ash under intense sunlight while frequently turning to ensure complete combustion, leach with boiling water, clarify for several days, boil dry in a pot, dissolve again with rainwater, filter through multiple layers of bamboo strips lined with paper, clarify for another half month, boil dry in a silver pot until white as frost, and store in a lead jar. Another Yang-refining method: Boil child's urine in a pot until dry. The pot must be heated red-hot first, cleaned with sesame oil to prevent sticking and damage. Initially resembling oil dregs, place in a molten tin pot or small iron cauldron, heat until red-hot, dissolve with hot water, pour slowly from a spouted pot plugged with grass, filter clearly through bamboo lined with paper below, reduce to dryness over gentle heat, and store in a lead jar to prevent melting. Method for refining Qiubing (Autumn Ice): Dissolve Qiushi in dew collected in autumn, place in a molten tin pot, cover with a new iron lid, seal tightly with salt mud, sublimate for the duration of three incense sticks, remove, grind, and sublimate again as before. Apply water slowly to the lid; too much water prevents crystallization, too little prevents sublimation. Cool down from Chen hour to Wei hour. The substance rising on the lid is Qiubing, the essence of Qiushi, a divine elixir for true deficiency and emaciation. Medicines manufactured artificially are often counterfeit, and genuine Qiushi is particularly hard to obtain. Some are made by filtering and boiling rock salt, some by dissolving Mirabilite, some by melting Saltpeter and casting into ingots; counterfeits vary. Unless supervised by hired artisans, it is difficult to use safely. Test for authenticity: Place in boiling tofu brine. Genuine does not curdle tofu flowers; if it curdles, it is fake salt, causing thirst upon ingestion. If it creates ripples and tastes slightly bitter, it is fake Xuanmingfen (Mirabilite), causing diarrhea. Ingots that do not dissolve easily in hot water are fake Saltpeter, causing fever upon swallowing. Dissolve Qiushi in water and put vegetable leaves in it; if they remain fresh after a moment, it is genuine. Put a small amount in the eye; if there is no astringency or pain, it is undoubtedly genuine. Light Qiushi that does not dissolve in boiling water is mixed with Gypsum Fibrosum powder or Talcum powder.
[Invention] Qiushi is named "Qiushi" (Autumn Stone) specifically to take the meaning of autumn energy descending; preparations made at other times have different efficacies. Preparation method: Refine using child's urine to remove its salty-cold nature, transforming it into a warm-tonic effect. It nourishes yin and reduces fire without damaging the Stomach, tonifies the True Fire of the Lower Yuan, dissipates blood stasis, assists yin essence, descends pathogenic fire, and returns true yang. It is a celestial product for treating deficiency-heat coughing blood and bone-steaming consumption. For excess fire, raw or light forms are suitable. For yin deficiency, cooked or salty forms are suitable. For consumption patients with extreme hyperactive yin-fire who cannot tolerate tonics like Ginseng, administer the three formulas of Qiushi Pills sequentially. Whether taken orally or held in the mouth, wheezing and coughing will gradually stabilize, phlegm will be easier to expectorate, and coughing will require less effort, due to its salty-descending nature preventing upward rebellion. First, use equal parts of Rhizoma Allii Tuberosi-fried black Radix et Rhizoma Coptidis (or similar herb context implies clearing heat/blood, here text says Da Huang - Rhizoma Rhei) pure powder and Qiushi, formed into pills with Red Date flesh, taken empty stomach, 3 qian, to clear heat and dissipate blood stasis. Second, use equal parts of Fructus Trichosanthis and Qiushi powder, with half the amount of raw Radix Glycyrrhizae powder, formed into pills with Red Date flesh, to stop cough and eliminate phlegm. Finally, use equal parts of Radix Ginseng and Qiushi, with half the amount of honey-fried Radix Glycyrrhizae powder, also formed into pills with date flesh, to tonify qi and calm the spirit. The dosage depends on blood stasis, heat, and yuan qi, and should not be limited by fixed weights. Yin-refined light Qiushi has the most sinking and penetrating nature; unless there is extreme heat in the yin level, it should not be used lightly. Those with yin deficiency, excessive fire, frequent urination, and insecure essence who take it by mistake may suffer urinary incontinence or nocturnal emission. Salty Qiushi can be used instead of salt to dip food. For those with wheezing, coughing, irritability, thirst, and insomnia, take half a teaspoon dissolved in boiling water to achieve sleep. Upon waking, saliva fills the mouth without thirst, demonstrating its yin-nourishing power. Yin-refined light Qiushi treats summer-heat damp-heat strangury, urinary obstruction, turbid strangury, sand-stone strangury, fleshy strangury, and dribbling painful urination in the elderly due to premature abstinence, showing immediate effect with one dose.
