Non-toxic. Plant growth.
Baiyouma (White Sesame Oil) primarily treats deficiency consumption (Xu Lao), lubricates the intestines and stomach, circulates wind-qi, unblocks blood vessels, removes floating wind from the head, and moistens the skin. Consuming one he (a unit of volume) raw after meals without cessation throughout life; when administered to lactating mothers, their children will never fall ill. If there is exogenous heat (Ke Re), it can be prepared as a juice drink. Oil stored for a long time may induce cholera-like diarrhea (Huo Luan). Additionally, chewing it raw and applying it to various sores on a child's head will, after some time, draw out human muscle tissue. Raw use has a cold nature, while stir-fried use has a hot nature.
○ The oil is cold and non-toxic. It kills the five types of jaundice (Wu Huang), clears heat toxins from the Triple Burner (San Jiao), facilitates qi flow through the large and small intestines, treats heart pain caused by roundworms, applies to all sores, scabies, and tinea, and kills all parasites. Old oil decocted into an ointment generates flesh, stops pain, reduces carbuncles and swellings, and repairs skin fissures. (Recorded by Famous Physicians)
[Seedlings] (According to *Tu Jing Ben Cao*): Baiyouma is similar to Huama (Black Sesame), but in terms of color, it is slightly paler than Huama and not completely white. People now call it Zhima (Sesame), which was detailed in previous entries. After stir-frying, pressing it while hot yields "raw oil," but this can only be used for lighting lamps; it must be refined again to be called "cooked oil" suitable for consumption. Otherwise, it is no longer suitable for lighting, which is a unique distinction. This is analogous to iron taken directly from fire being called "raw iron."
[Origin] (According to *Tu Jing Ben Cao*): Produced in Shangdang, river marshes, and central plains valleys. It is now found everywhere, cultivated in gardens, and no longer wild.
[Season] (Growth) February, March. (Harvest) July, August.
[Processing] Sun-dry.
[Parts Used] Seed kernel, oil, leaves.
[Color] White.
[Taste] Sweet.
[Nature] Greatly Cold.
[Aroma/Qi] Light aroma; belongs to Yin within Yang.
[Odor] Fragrant.
[Primary Action] Moistens skin, lubricates viscera.
[Therapeutic Indications] (Treatment) (According to *Tu Jing Ben Cao*): Baima (White Hemp/Sesame) eliminates carbuncles and sores, and clears heat diseases. ○ Sesame oil treats earwigs entering the ear: place an oil-fried pancake under the pillow; the insect will exit shortly. (According to *Bie Lu*): Baima treats variola (smallpox); ingestion prevents pus formation. For bites from the white water spider, grind and apply externally. For acute infantile gan sores, chew and apply externally. For soft boils in children, char, stir-fry, and apply while hot while chewing. ○ Raw Ma treats heart pain, regardless of cold or heat patterns.
[Combined Therapies] Decoct oil with Congchi (Scallion and Fermented Soybean) until fragrant; place near the patient's pillow. Have them sniff it on an empty stomach to treat abdominal masses (Jia) containing worms, causing the worm to exit. ○ One cup of Wuma oil (Black Sesame Oil), half cup of water, and one egg white, cooked and stirred evenly, treats yellowing appearing suddenly after three to five days of Taiyang disease (Shang Han). ○ Decoct Baima with wine, remove the dregs, and consume the sesame to treat vomiting. ○ One liter of oil and three jin of Xiebai (Broadleaf Ramie Stem) are fried in the oil until Xiebai turns black. Drink with wine to enrich blood in the hundred vessels. Those consuming mineral drugs (Jin Shi) should take this first. ○ Crush leaves, mix with sour water (Jiang Shui), squeeze out the juice, and wash the head to dispel wind and nourish hair. ○ Mix one he of oil, two eggs, and one liang of Mangxiao (Mirabilite), stir and ingest; diarrhea occurs shortly after, treating post-febrile heat toxin recovery.
[Contraindications] Long-term consumption draws out muscle tissue; excessive consumption induces cold diseases, lubricates bone marrow excessively, causes thirst in viscera, and burdens the Spleen. All food must be cooked daily; food left overnight moves Qi and is strictly forbidden for those with dental or Spleen-Stomach disorders.
[Antidote] Relieves heat toxicity from mineral drugs (Dan Shi).
