Taste: sweet, slightly bitter. Nature: neutral. Non-toxic.
Stops bleeding, resolves toxicity. For hematemesis (vomiting blood) and hematochezia (blood in stool), menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), and epistaxis (nosebleed). For recurrent oral ulcers, frequent consumption can restore health. For generalized scabies, damp-heat sores, and non-healing ulcers, use for bathing. Rapid effect is difficult to expect; persistence is key.
This herb has the merit of restoring order from chaos. It is often used in appropriate formulas for stubborn, hard-to-heal bleeding and ulcers, with considerable efficacy.
Taste: bitter. Nature: slightly cold. Non-toxic. Enters the Liver Meridian. Ostreae Concha (Oyster Shell) serves as a guide. Avoid combining with Platycladi Semen (Biota Seed).
Stops vomiting blood and nosebleeds, stabilizes metrorrhagia and strangury with lower bleeding. Can cure joint pain due to wind-dampness, and soothe whole-body bi-syndrome due to dampness.
Slightly cold nature nourishes Yin, thus it should stop bleeding. Its treatment of wind-dampness relies on its strength to benefit the Spleen. There are several types of cypress; only those with a few branches sprouting from the root, lush and dense, are named Qiantou Bai (Thousand-Head Cypress), also known as Foshou Bai (Buddha's Hand Cypress), which is the true Ce Bai Ye (Biota Tops).
Cypress nature involves dryness; patients with blood disorders should not take it in large amounts.
Taste: pungent. Nature: warm. Non-toxic. Burn red, grind into fine powder.
For stopping bleeding, take down with vinegar. For resolving carbuncles, mix with pig bile and apply. Grind thickly and apply to eyes to remove floating filaments. Mix with wine to treat retained placenta.
Ink represents the color of the North; blood represents the color of the South. Stopping bleeding is like fire encountering water and subduing itself. If containing Deer Antler Glue (Lujiao Jiao), if not red, it cannot be used.
Refers to Sepiae Endoconcha (Cuttlefish Bone). Taste: salty. Nature: warm. Non-toxic. Enters the Liver Meridian. Adverse with Bletillae Rhizoma (White Bletilla), Ampelopsis Radix (White Pea Vine Root), and Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Prepared Aconite). Roast until yellow.
Stops hematemesis, epistaxis, and intestinal wind; astringes chronic deficiency diarrhea and dysentery. In surgery, dries pus and absorbs fluid; in ophthalmology, removes nebula and clears irritability. For hematemesis, hematochezia, abdominal pain encircling the umbilicus, female blood exhaustion (Xue Ku), and leukorrhea with blood.
Salty taste enters the Blood level; astringent nature can consolidate, thus it has the function of softening hardness and stopping slipping/leakage.
Taste: sour. Nature: neutral. Non-toxic. Calcine, then levigate with water.
Stops vomiting blood and nosebleeds miraculously; transforms stasis blood into water.
When blood encounters Huairui Shi (Flower Nodule Stone), it immediately transforms into water. Overuse damages blood; caution is necessary.
Taste: bitter, sweet. Nature: neutral. Non-toxic. Enters the Liver and Large Intestine meridians. Cyperi Rhizoma (Cyperi Tuber) serves as a guide.
Soak, remove skin and tips, stir-fry. Do not use kernels with two embryos.

Bitterness outweighs sweetness, Qi is thin but flavor is strong, sinking and descending, it is Yang within Yin. Bitterness pushes out the old, sweetness generates the new, thus it is constantly needed for blood diseases.
Peach Kernel breaks blood; it should be used for blood stasis. If used improperly, it severely damages Yin Qi.
