(Split into two types: Wumei [Dark Plum] and Baimei [White Plum])
Main indications of Wumei (Fructus Mume): Astringes Lung Qi, binds the intestines to stop diarrhea, generates body fluids, relieves thirst, harmonizes the middle jiao, resolves alcohol intoxication, dispels bi-syndrome, and detoxifies. Used for dysentery and metrorrhagia with bleeding in women. The functions of Baimei are roughly similar; it also treats knife and arrow wounds, stops bleeding (when crushed and applied externally), mastitis, and swelling/toxins.
Mei Wan (Plum Pill) Formula: Wumei (Fructus Mume) 300 pieces, Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi), Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri) each 6 liang, Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum) 10 liang, Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) each 4 liang. Pound and sieve the herbs to mix them. Soak Wumei in vinegar (Ku Jiu) overnight, remove the pits, steam over rice water, pound into a paste, and then pound/mortar another 2,000 times. Form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 10 pills before meals, gradually increasing to 20 pills, three times a day. Avoid cold, raw, slippery, and foul-smelling foods. For chronic dysentery unresponsive to other medicines, remove Xixin, Fuzi, Renshen, and Huangbai; replace Guizhi with Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi).
Wumei Tugua Tang (Wumei and Trichosanthes Root Decoction): Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum) 2 qian, Maiya (Fructus Hordei Germinatus Preparatus, stir-fried), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Caoguo (Fructus Tsaoko) each 1 qian. Cut into coarse powder, add 5 slices of Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), decoct in water and take orally. Treats dryness of body fluids after drinking alcohol, and excessive craving for cold items and cold food.
Wumei San (Wumei Powder): Wumei (Fructus Mume, pitted), Yanshusuo (Rhizoma Corydalis), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, half raw/half honey-fried), Moyao (Resina Myrrha), Gouteng (Ramulus Uncariae cum Uncis) each 2 qian. Cut into small pieces, take 2 qian per dose, decoct in water and take on an empty stomach. Treats abdominal pain and coldness below the umbilicus in newborns.
Another Prescription: Wumei Rou (Pulp of Fructus Mume, slightly stir-fried), Ying Susu Ke (Pericarpium Papaveris, honey-fried) in equal parts. Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, swallow with honey before sleep.
Bing Mei Wan (Ice Plum Pill): Qingmei (Fructus Mume) 20 pieces, Yan (Sal) 12 liang, marinate for five days. Extract plum juice, add Mingfan (Alumen) 3 liang, Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis) 30 [units/pieces], and all ingredients ground into fine powder. Mix with juice and plums, store in a bottle. Use one pill at a time, holding it in the mouth to swallow saliva. Treats throat obstruction (Houbi).

Take 5 qian per dose, add 2 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain and take warm. Treats intestinal abscess (Chang Yong). Stop when pus and blood are discharged two or three times.
