马也有其珍贵之处，但难以得到。真正的马蹄主治惊痫、邪气、反胃。
阿胶：阿井水已干涸已久，如今能用纯黑驴皮，以名泉之水熬制膏方，已被视为上品。主治：清肺、养肝、滋肾、补血、利大小肠。治疗瘫痪、偏瘫及一切风痛、虚劳羸瘦、肺痿吐脓、咳嗽喘急、吐血、鼻出血、心腹内部出血、水气浮肿、腰痛、四肢骨节酸痛、血淋、尿血、虚性便秘、肠风、下痢、妇人血痛、血枯、月经不调、或经行不止、崩中带下、妊娠尿血、胎动不安，以及产前产后各种疾病。
阿胶丸：阿胶（锉碎炒干）、干姜（炮制）、木香、黄连（炒）、当归（炒）、黄芩各一两；赤石脂（醋和水飞）、龙骨（醋和水飞）各二两；浓朴一两五钱。研成细末，用蜂蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用三十丸，白天两次，夜间一次。治疗冷热不调，伤犯三阴经，痢下脓血，腹痛不止。
又一方：阿胶、赤石脂各一两五钱；续断、川芎、当归、甘草、丹参各一两；龙骨、鹿茸（酥炙）、海螵蛸、鳖甲（炙）各二两。研成细末，用蜂蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次空腹用酒送服二三十丸。治疗产后崩漏出血不止，身体虚弱无力。
阿胶梅连丸：阿胶（用草灰炒透至白色，研不细者再炒研）三两；乌梅肉（炒枯）一两五钱；黄连三两；黄柏（炒黑）、赤芍、当归（炒）、赤茯苓各一两五钱；干姜（炮制）一两。研成细末，用醋煮阿胶为粘合剂制成梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服用十至三十丸，饭前用米汤送服。治疗阴虚下痢，入夜发热。
阿胶蕲艾丸：阿胶、蕲艾、川芎、当归、白芍、熟地、甘草。研成细末，用水泛丸，汤剂送服。治疗妊娠期间跌打闪挫，胎动不安。
阿胶散：阿胶（麸炒至起珠）一两五钱；牛蒡子（炒香）、炙甘草各二钱五分；马兜铃（焙）五钱；杏仁（麸炒）七个；糯米（炒）一两；生黄芪五钱。研成细末。每次服用一两，小儿服用二三钱，饭后水煎服。治疗肺虚有火，咳嗽无津液，咳而气哽。
又一方：阿胶一两，熟地黄二两，白芍、艾叶、当归、甘草、黄芪各一两。切碎，每次服用五钱，加生姜、大枣，水煎服。治疗妊娠因颠扑导致胎动不安。
又一方：阿胶（碎炒黄）、人参、川芎各一两；白茯苓、麦冬、柴胡各七钱五分；炙甘草、当归（锉炒）、黄芩各五钱。研成细末。每次服用四钱，加生姜、大枣，水煎服。治疗胎动不安，心烦腹痛。
阿胶汤：阿胶（炙干），熟地黄（水煎服）。治疗怀孕多次流产，小腹疼痛难忍。
又一方：阿胶一两，蒲黄六合，生地三升，水五升，煎至三升，分次服用。治疗吐血。
又一方：阿胶（炒）三两，牡蛎（烧成粉）、鹿茸（酥炙）、桑螵蛸（酒炙）各等分。切碎成散剂。每次服用四钱，水煎空腹饮服。治疗遗尿。
Hooves indicate the treatment of fright-evil (pathogenic factors causing fright), epilepsy, and epistaxis. They treat internal hemorrhage and blood stasis resulting from trauma, as well as difficulty in lactation in women, and metrorrhagia (profuse uterine bleeding).
**Mati Wan (Hoof Pill):** Use four liang of white horse hoof and Yuyuliang (Halloysitum Rubrum), three liang of Longgu (Fossil Bones), and two liang each of Ooctopus Sepiae (Cuttlefish Bone), Baijiangcan (White Silkworm), and Chishizhi (Red Halloysite). Grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take ten pills per dose; if ineffective, increase to thirty pills. Take on an empty stomach with warm wine. Treats persistent leukorrhea (white discharge).
Horses also possess treasures that are difficult to obtain. Genuine horse hooves treat fright-epilepsy, evil qi, and regurgitation.
**Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin):** Since the water of A Well has long dried up, using pure black donkey skin boiled with water from famous springs is now considered a top-grade product. It treats: clearing the lungs, nourishing the liver, tonifying the kidney, benefiting blood, promoting urination and bowel movements. It treats paralysis, hemiplegia, all wind-pain, consumptive disease with emaciation, lung abscess with pus expectoration, coughing and wheezing, hematemesis, epistaxis, internal abdominal hemorrhage, edema due to water retention, lower back pain, soreness and pain of limbs and joints, stranguria with blood, hematuria, constipation due to deficiency, intestinal wind, dysentery, blood pain in women, blood dryness, irregular menstruation, or continuous menstrual flow, metrorrhagia with leukorrhea, hematuria during pregnancy, fetal movement, and various diseases before and after childbirth.
**Ejiao Wan (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Pill):** Ejiao (chopped and stir-fried until dry), Shengjiang (Paeoniae Radix Alba, processed), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) each one liang; Chishizhi (Red Halloysite, washed with vinegar and water), Longgu (Fossil Bones, washed with vinegar and water) each two liang; Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) one liang five qian. Grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take thirty pills per dose, twice during the day and once at night. Treats imbalance of cold and heat, injury to the Three Yin meridians, dysentery with pus and blood, and unceasing abdominal pain.
Another prescription: Ejiao and Chishizhi each one liang five qian; Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Danggui, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each one liang; Longgu, Lurong (Cervi Cornu Degelatinatum, roasted with butter), Haipiaoxiao (Sepiae Endoconcha), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, roasted) each two liang. Grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take twenty to thirty pills on an empty stomach with wine. Treats postpartum metrorrhagia with unceasing bleeding, weakness, and lack of strength.
**Ejiao Meilian Wan (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, Plum and Coptis Pill):** Ejiao (stir-fried thoroughly with grass ash until white, grind again if not fine enough) three liang; Wumei Rou (Pruni Mume Carnus, stir-fried until charred) one liang five qian; Huanglian three liang; Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried until black), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Danggui (stir-fried), Chifuling (Poria with Red Heart) each one liang five qian; Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed) one liang. Grind into fine powder, use Ejiao boiled in vinegar as a binder to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take ten to thirty pills per dose before meals with rice water. Treats yin-deficiency dysentery with fever at night.
**Ejiao Qi'ai Wan (Donkey-Hide Gelatin and Qiai Pill):** Ejiao, Qi'ai (Artemisia argyi), Chuanxiong, Danggui, Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Gancao. Grind into fine powder, make water pills, take with decoction. Treats fetal movement and insecurity caused by falls and sprains during pregnancy.
**Ejiao San (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder):** Ejiao (bran-stir-fried until bubbling) one liang five qian; Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried until fragrant), Zhigancao (Prepared Licorice Root) each two qian five fen; Madouling (Aristolochiae Fructus, baked) five qian; Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, bran-stir-fried) seven grains; Nuomi (Oryza Sativa Glutinosa, stir-fried) one liang; Sheng Huangqi (Astragali Radix) five qian. Grind into fine powder. Take one liang per dose for adults, two to three qian for children, decocted in water and taken after meals. Treats lung deficiency with fire, cough without saliva, and coughing with choking sensation.
Another prescription: Ejiao one liang, Shudi two liang, Baishao, Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium), Danggui, Gancao, Huangqi each one liang. Chop, take five qian per dose, add ginger and jujube, decoct in water and drink. Treats fetal movement and insecurity caused by falls during pregnancy.
Another prescription: Ejiao (crushed and stir-fried until yellow), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Chuanxiong each one liang; Baifuling (Poria), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) each seven qian five fen; Zhigancao, Danggui (chopped and stir-fried), Huangqin each five qian. Grind into fine powder. Take four qian per dose, add ginger and jujube, decoct in water and drink. Treats fetal movement and insecurity, restlessness, and abdominal pain.
**Ejiao Tang (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Decoction):** Ejiao (roasted until dry), Shudi (decocted in water). Treats recurrent miscarriages during pregnancy and unbearable lower abdominal pain.
Another prescription: Ejiao one liang, Puhuang (Lygodii Spora) six he, Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) three sheng, water five sheng, boil down to three sheng, divide and take. Treats hematemesis.
Another prescription: Ejiao (stir-fried) three liang, Mushili (Ostreae Concha, calcined to powder), Lurong (roasted with butter), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Oötheca) in equal parts. Chop into pieces to make a powder. Take four qian per dose, decoct in water and drink on an empty stomach. Treats enuresis.
