*Jiyun Lüchao* records: Chuanxiang Gua (Penetrating Intestine Melon) refers to sweet melon seeds excreted in the feces, which can sprout and bear fruit. Locals call it "Fen Tian Gua" (Feces Sweet Melon). Regardless of size, it can be used as medicine.
After collection, dry it in the sun, roast it until scorched on new tiles, grind into powder, and pulverize extremely finely in a mortar. Spread it on the ground to dissipate "fire toxicity" (residual heat from processing), then store for use. However, this melon is difficult to obtain naturally and requires artificial production. The method is as follows: Feed a ripe, over-matured sweet melon with seeds to a seven- or eight-year-old child on an empty stomach, instructing them not to chew the seeds. The next day, when defecating, the seeds will be wrapped in the feces. Dry the feces with the seeds inside. If harvested before the planting season of that year, they can be sown immediately; if too late to grow melons, the flowers can also be used. Otherwise, storing them for sowing the following year is better. Seeds excreted by adults can also be planted. This melon grows in summer and autumn; if needed in spring or winter, preparation must be made in advance.
Treating hemorrhoids and fistulas: *Jiyun Lüchao* records a secret formula for eliminating hemorrhoids, effective for both chronic and recent cases after three doses. Preparation: Roast Chuanxiang Gua until it retains its medicinal properties ("cun xing"), grind into powder. For every one tael of this powder, add 3.5 qian of cicada slough powder. Soak five qian of Honeysuckle Flower (*Jinyinhua*) in wine for one to two days, boil briefly, mix with the powder. Take 2.7 qian per dose, administered on an empty stomach with Honeysuckle-infused wine. Externally, decoct the flowers and leaves of White Hainan Flower (*Bai Hainan Hua*) and roots in water. Use for fumigation and washing intermittently; healing occurs within three days. Fresh White Hainan Flowers are unavailable in spring and winter, so they should be collected and shade-dried in advance. Hemorrhoidal fistulas are caused by stagnant fire in the large intestine and accumulated heat in the zang-fu organs, manifesting as swelling, pain, and ulcers, eventually forming fistulous tracts. This medication disperses fire, clears toxicity, removes stagnation and obstruction, causing the tracts to recede spontaneously. It is effective regardless of duration. Avoid sexual activity, anger, and pungent/spicy fried foods that may trigger flare-ups. After one hundred days, recurrence is prevented. This formula was transmitted from a Western monk. A foreign merchant suffered severe hemorrhoidal pain, unable to board a ship. The monk provided this medicine, resulting in cure within three days. In exchange for the formula, ten bolts of foreign cloth and five taels of gold were given. It proved universally effective.
This refers to loofah vines hanging on mulberry trees or house fences in rural areas, affected by frost. Their seeds are named Wu Niu Zi (Black Ox Seed).
It is suitable for treating leukorrhea, hematuria, abdominal distension and masses, and all types of bone and joint pain in women (from Wang Liansi's Formula).
