*Jisheng Kuhai* records: To treat dog bites, apply goose feces topically to the wound to prevent ulceration and pain.
*Bencao Gangmu* (Compendium of Materia Medica) only records its use for treating "Gu Zei" in the throat (a sensation of food impaction or foreign body). Currently, people use it to treat oral thrush in children, with very effective results.
*Jijiu Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions) records: For carbuncles and sores without a head (abscesses lacking pus), take fresh goose eggshells, burn them to ash while preserving their medicinal properties, grind into fine powder, mix with vinegar, and apply topically. It will immediately induce the discharge of pus and blood, which is miraculous.
*Qixiao Fang* (Miraculous Effective Prescriptions) records: For conditions triggered by dog bites that manifest after a long period, take goose leg bones, calcine them to preserve their efficacy, grind into powder, and sprinkle on the wound.
*Baojia Fang* (Family Treasure Prescriptions) records: To treat throat disorders, take one goose trachea, roast it on a yin-yang tile until yellow, add 1 fen of borneol, grind both into a fine powder together, and insufflate into the throat two or three times to achieve a cure.
*Baojia Fang* (Family Treasure Prescriptions) records: To treat leukorrhea (white vaginal discharge) and metrorrhagia (red vaginal bleeding), take the goose's water trachea, calcine it to preserve efficacy, grind into powder, mix with wine, and take orally before bedtime.
Eagle Strands (Ying Tiao)
*Baicao Jing* (Mirror of Hundred Herbs) records: When eagles eat sparrows daily, they swallow them whole including feathers. The meat digests but the feathers do not, gathering into a mass the size of a Chinese chestnut (*Euryale ferox* seed). The eagle spits this out the next morning; collect it for medicinal use. *Bencao Gangmu* recorded eagle feathers but not eagle-spit strands, so this supplements that record. Commentary: The eagle inherits the Qi of the West Dui Metal element; its nature is fierce and agile. Therefore, my layman predecessor used the eagle's head to treat vertigo, and Wang Tao used eagle feces to treat food impaction, both taking advantage of its sharp Geng-Xin Qi and unobstructed flow. The symptom of regurgitation involves food being vomited up again after eating, accumulating in the stomach for a long time without being transformed, thus coming out immediately. This is mostly due to melancholy. Using the concept of the eagle vomiting again, combined with its brisk and fierce nature for treatment, the principle is profound.
To treat regurgitation, calcine the Eagle Strands, grind into powder, and take. *Yifang Jiting* (Collection of Medical Formulas Listening) records: General Zha's family secret prescription for dysphagia uses "Ya Wu Sa Chu Mao Zhou," which is the bird feather mass spat out by an eagle. Seven are required; they must not touch the ground. Catch them in a cloth placed on a rack, dry them over a mild fire, grind into powder, and take orally. In military camps, feeding eagles feather masses is done in the afternoon; the next morning at dawn, the eagle will spit them out, making them easy to obtain. Do not let the mass touch the ground. If it touches the ground, it loses efficacy.
Eagle Strands *Benjing Fengyuan* records: Feathers in eagle feces that have not been fully digested are called "Ying Tiao." They are used in Yin Dan and Yang Dan preparations. Not only do they utilize the property of feathers shedding easily to treat diseases involving difficult shedding, but they also utilize the undigested feathers in the feces to eliminate nebulae (opacities) in the eye that have not yet detached. This can be considered a clever application.
