【释名】铅白霜。
【修治】颂曰∶铅霜，用铅杂水银十五分之一合炼作片，置醋瓮中密封，经久成霜。
时珍曰∶以铅打成钱，穿成串，瓦盆盛生醋，以串横盆中，离醋三寸，仍以瓦盆覆之，
置阴处，候生霜刷下，仍合住。
【气味】甘、酸，冷，无毒。
宗 曰∶铅霜涂木瓜，即失酸味，金克木也。
【主治】消痰，止惊悸，解酒毒，去胸膈烦闷，中风痰实，止渴（大明）。去膈热涎塞
（宗 ）。治吐逆，镇惊去怯，黑须发（时珍）。
【发明】颂曰∶铅霜性极冷，治风痰及婴孺惊滞药，今医家用之尤多。
时珍曰∶铅霜乃铅汞之气交感英华所结，道家谓之神符白雪，其坠痰去热，定惊止泻，
盖有奇效，但非久服常用之物尔。病在上焦者，宜此清镇。
【附方】旧二，新九。
小儿惊热，心肺积热，夜卧多惊∶铅霜、牛黄各半分，铁粉一分。研匀。每服一字，竹

惊风痫疾，喉闭牙紧∶铅白霜一字，蟾酥少许。为末，乌梅肉蘸药于龈上揩之，仍吹通
关药，良久便开。（《普济方》）
消渴烦热∶铅白霜、枯白矾等分。为末，蜜丸芡子大。绵裹，含化咽汁。又方∶铅白霜
一两，根黄、硝石各一两。为末。每冷水服一钱。（《圣济录》）
喉痹肿痛∶铅白霜、甘草半两，青黛一两，为末，醋糊丸芡子大。每含咽一丸，立效。

【释名】铅白霜。
【修治】苏颂说：制作铅霜，是将铅与水银按十五分之一的比例混合炼制成药片，放入盛有醋的瓮中密封，经过长时间放置即可结成霜状。
李时珍说：将铅打成铜钱形状，用线串起来，放在瓦盆中生醋中，将串横置于盆内，使药串距离醋面三寸，再用一个瓦盆将其覆盖，放置在阴凉处，待表面生成霜后刷下，然后再次合拢容器继续反应。
【气味】味甘、酸，性冷，无毒。
寇宗奭说：将铅霜涂抹在木瓜上，木瓜就会失去酸味，这是因为金（铅）克木（木瓜属木）的缘故。
【主治】消除痰浊，止住惊悸，解除酒毒，去除胸膈部的烦闷感，治疗中风导致的痰实证，止渴（出自《大明本草》）。去除膈部因热邪引起的涎液阻塞（出自寇宗奭）。治疗呕吐逆气，镇定惊恐、消除怯懦，使须发变黑（出自李时珍）。
【发明】苏颂说：铅霜性质极寒，用于治疗风痰以及婴幼儿惊滞的药物，如今医生使用它尤为频繁。
李时珍说：铅霜是铅与汞的气相互交感凝结而成的精华，道家称之为“神符白雪”。它坠降痰浊、清除热邪、安定惊悸、止住腹泻，确实有奇效，但并非适合长期服用和日常使用的药物。病位在上焦者，适宜用此药进行清镇治疗。
【附方】旧方二首，新方九首。
小儿惊热，心肺积热，夜间睡眠多惊悸：取铅霜、牛黄各半分，铁粉一分。研磨均匀。每次服用一字量，用竹沥送服。（出自《圣济录》）
惊风痫疾，喉部闭塞、牙关紧闭：取铅白霜一字，蟾酥少许。研为细末，用乌梅肉蘸取药粉在牙龈上擦拭，同时吹入通关散，良久之后牙关便会张开。（出自《普济方》）
消渴烦热：取铅白霜、枯白矾等分。研为细末，用蜂蜜制成如芡实大小的丸剂。用绵布包裹，含化咽下汁液。另一法：取铅白霜一两，黄连、硝石各一两。研为细末。每次用冷水送服一钱。（出自《圣济录》）

[Names] Lead White Frost.
[Preparation] Su Song stated: To prepare Lead White Frost, mix lead with one-fifteenth part of mercury, smelt them into sheets, place them in a jar containing vinegar, seal tightly, and allow to stand for a long time until frost forms.
Li Shizhen stated: Shape lead into coins, string them together, and place them in a earthenware basin containing raw vinegar. Position the string horizontally in the basin so that it is three cun above the vinegar surface. Cover with another earthenware basin and place in a cool spot. Wait for frost to form on the surface, brush it off, then reseal the container to continue the process.
[Flavor and Nature] Sweet and sour, cold, non-toxic.
Kou Zongshi stated: When Lead White Frost is applied to papaya, the papaya loses its sour taste; this is because Metal (lead) overcomes Wood (papaya belongs to Wood).
[Indications] Resolves phlegm, stops palpitations and fright, resolves alcohol toxicity, removes oppression and irritability in the chest and diaphragm, treats phlegm-fullness syndrome due to wind-stroke, and relieves thirst (from *Da Ming Ben Cao*). Clears heat-induced salivary obstruction in the diaphragm (from Kou Zongshi). Treats vomiting and regurgitation, calms fright and removes timidity, darkens beard and hair (from Li Shizhen).
[Analysis] Su Song stated: Lead White Frost is extremely cold in nature and is used in formulas treating wind-phlegm and infantile fright stagnation; it is currently used by physicians very frequently.
Li Shizhen stated: Lead White Frost is the condensed essence formed by the interaction of the qi of lead and mercury. Daoists call it "Divine Talisman White Snow." It has remarkable effects in descending phlegm, clearing heat, stabilizing fright, and stopping diarrhea. However, it is not a substance suitable for long-term or daily use. For diseases located in the Upper Jiao, this herb is suitable for clearing and sedating.
[Attached Prescriptions] Two old prescriptions, nine new prescriptions.
Pediatric fright-heat, accumulation of heat in Heart and Lung, frequent fright during night sleep: Take Lead White Frost and Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis) each 0.5 fen, Tiefen (Ferrum Preparatum) 1 fen. Grind uniformly. Administer 1 zi per dose, taken down with Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) (*Shengji Lu*).
Fright-wind and epilepsy, throat closure and locked jaw: Take 1 zi of Lead White Frost and a small amount of Chansu (Venenum Bufonis). Grind into powder. Dip Prunus mume flesh into the powder and rub onto the gums. Simultaneously blow Tongguan San into the airway; after some time, the jaw will open (*Puji Fang*).
Xiaoke (Wasting-Thirst) with irritability and heat: Take equal parts of Lead White Frost and Kubaijian (Alumen Ustums). Grind into powder. Form pills the size of Euryale seed using honey. Wrap in silk, hold in mouth, dissolve and swallow the juice. Another method: Take 1 liang of Lead White Frost, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Xiaoshi (Natrii Nitras) each 1 liang. Grind into powder. Take 1 qian per dose with cold water (*Shengji Lu*).
Houbi (Sore Throat) with swelling and pain: Take 0.5 liang of Lead White Frost, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) half raw and half roasted, and Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) 1 liang. Grind into powder, make pills the size of Euryale seed using vinegar paste. Hold one pill in mouth and swallow, effect is immediate (*Shengji Lu*).
Xuanyong (Perianal Abscess) with swelling and pain: Take 1 fen of Lead White Frost and 1 fen of Gancao (half raw, half roasted). Grind into powder. Wrap in silk, hold in mouth and swallow (*Shenghui Fang*).
Mouth canker with gum rot, foul breath and bleeding, applicable to adults and children: Take 2 qian of Lead White Frost and Tonglü (Vermiparis), and Alumen the size of a bean. Grind into powder and apply to the affected area (*Xuanming Fang*).
Epistaxis unceasing: Take powder of Lead White Frost. Administer 1 zi with fresh well water (*Shiquan Bojiu Fang*).
Hemorrhoids with swelling and pain: Take half a zi of Lead White Frost and Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum). Mix with wine and apply topically, effective immediately (*Yingtong Baiwen*).
Amenorrhea in unmarried women,恍惚 (trance-like state) with irritability and heat: Take 0.5 liang of Lead White Frost and 1 he of Sheng Dihuang Juice (Rehmanniae Radix Fresh Juice). Mix and take, three times daily (*Shenghui Fang*).
Combing hair to darken it: Wrap a comb with Lead White Frost, comb hair daily every day; this is superior to dyeing (*Puji Fang*).
