Zhang Hua stated: The jade used for making Jade Paste should be pure pale white without stone impurities; large pieces are as big as a Sheng (a unit of volume), small ones as big as a chicken egg. One should select those from the mine pits, not the jade currently used for making vessels. It comes from old mines in Xiangxiang County.
