[Inyu]
Grows in the valleys of Mount Tai. (Bencao Shu Gouyuan citing *Mingyi Bielu*) The best quality comes from Pengcheng. (Tao Hongjing's annotation) Currently, it is also found in Yongzhou, Jiangzhou, Huazhou, and Hangzhou. Seedlings sprout in spring, growing three to four chi high. The stems are reddish. The leaves resemble those of pomegranate but are shorter and denser. They also somewhat resemble the leaves of *Pyracantha fortuneana* (Shinan). Small white flowers bloom in April. Fruits form in May. Stems and leaves are harvested in March, April, and July, then dried for use.
The flavor is bitter, and the nature is warm. It is toxic. It treats various rheumatic bi syndromes causing joint pain. It cures chronic wind-dampness wandering through the four limbs, leading to weakness in the legs, and spasmodic, cramping pain caused by wind-toxin. It addresses all cold-wind pathologies.
**Inyu Wan** (Cinnamon Twig Pill): Used raw.
[Discussion] Inyu treats wind diseases and primarily addresses damage to the Liver and Kidney. It can tonify deficiency caused by wind and penetrate the joints. This aligns with its warm nature combined with a bitter flavor, effectively achieving tonification through purgation.
[Suisui Zi]
Also known as Qianjinzi. Another name is Judong. Also called Liambu. Locals refer to it as Banzhilian. It is found everywhere, especially abundant in the South. Its seedlings and flowers resemble those of *Euphorbia lathyris* (Daji). Initially, it produces a single stem, with leaves at the tip. Leaves regenerate stems, and stems regenerate leaves, layer upon layer, resembling a cross shape. Medicinal material from the South is considered superior.
The flavor is acrid, and the nature is warm. It is toxic. It primarily treats Lung Qi disorders and water retention. For women, it treats blood stasis with amenorrhea, blood stasis masses (Zhengjia), accumulations, and phlegm-fluid retention, as well as loss of appetite and vomiting.
Prescription usage: [Text fragment unclear/missing context regarding specific preparation steps involving "De Zhong Chou Xiang Can", "Mi", "Qi Zhong", "Jie Tang"]. Taken at dawn (Wugeng). It will cause diarrhea. By morning, it stops. Afterwards, supplement with **Nongpu Tang** (Magnolia Bark Decoction). [Text fragment regarding "Pin Xian Ji Zheng Kuai"]: Suisui Zi 30 seeds, Nifen (Calomel) 2 qian, Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) stir-fried 1 qian. Grind uniformly... Break apart. Chew together with one roasted date (pitted and peeled). Swallow with cold tea. After midnight, take...
[Discussion] Suisui Zi is planted in autumn and grows through winter (hence the name Judong). It flourishes in spring and fruits in autumn. Planted in autumn and fruiting in autumn, it embodies the specialized qi of Metal and Water. [Text fragments regarding "Chang Wen", "Yi Wu", "Guo Duo", "Xian Gu Shui Zhi Bu Neng", "Sui Yi Hua Wei Xue Zhe", "Jie Bu Yue Ci Yi"] are incomplete or fragmented in the source. It descends water most rapidly but is toxic and damaging; dosage must not be excessive. (Su Song's annotation) If diarrhea is excessive, drink sour plum water or eat thin porridge to stop it. (Rihuazi's annotation)
[Processing] Remove the shell, select the white-colored ones, wrap in paper, press to remove the oil, and use the resulting "frost" (residue).
