It originated from the Hu regions. Also known as Garlic (*Da Suan*). The root and stem of Small Garlic (*Xiao Suan*) are both small, with fewer cloves, and its taste is extremely pungent. The stem of Large Garlic (*Da Suan*) is thick with many cloves; it is acrid and slightly sweet.
They are all planted in the eighth lunar month. In spring, the shoots are eaten; in early summer, the scapes (flower stalks) are eaten; in May, the bulbs (roots) are eaten; in August, they are harvested for seed.
The taste is acrid, and the nature is warm. It has a pungent, intense odor and is toxic. It enters the Taiyin and Yangming meridians. Its main function is to guide efficacy to the Five Zang Organs, penetrate the orifices, circulate Qi throughout the body, dispel Cold-Dampness, and break up Cold stagnation.

Drink the juice.
Apply externally to the soles of both feet.
Treat Head Wind (*Tou Feng*).
Treat insomnia/restlessness during sleep.

[Specific Formula]
Use Earthworms (*Di Long*) combined with Garlic. Place individual garlic cloves into the earthworms, grind them into powder, and insufflate into the nose.
[Discussion] *Ben Cao Bie Lu* (Supplement to Materia Medica) first states that Garlic enters the Five Zang Organs and reaches all orifices. This is because its intrinsic nature is Yang, allowing it to return to Yin, thereby inducing the Yang of Qi transformation, possessing unique and special effects.
However, misuse can lead to...
Postpartum conditions...
Using Yang to return to Yin to achieve harmony.
Garlic is Acrid and Hot, potentially aiding pathogenic Fire.
Li Shizhen (Binhu) stated: It disperses Qi and assists Fire, damaging the Lungs, impairing the eyes, and clouding the spirit. This is harmful to one's constitution. Many people suffer from this insidiously.
Chen Shigong (Zhongchun) stated: For those with Heat in the Lungs and Stomach, and Liver/Kidney...
It causes depletion and damage.
