(From *San Yin Fang*) Regulates the Qi of the Seven Emotions. (The "Seven Qi" refers to Cold, Heat, Joy, Anger, Worry, Sorrow, and Resentment; this formula is also known as Qi Qi Tang.) It consists of Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Fuling (Poria), and Zisu (Perillae Folium). [Banxia (stir-fried with ginger juice) 5 qian, Houpo (stir-fried with ginger juice) 3 qian, Fuling 4 qian, Zisu 2 qian. Stagnation originates from Qi dysfunction but often involves Dampness or Phlegm. Therefore, Banxia and Houpo are used to eliminate Phlegm and dissipate fullness, while Fuling and Perillae Folium promote diuresis to remove Dampness and broaden the Middle Jiao. Once Dampness is removed and Phlegm circulates, stagnation is naturally resolved.] Decoct with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus) to relieve emotional constraint; it can alleviate Phlegm-saliva, vomiting, and pain. There is also the Siqi Tang (Four-Seven Decoction) from the *Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang*, which uses Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Banxia, and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), offering distinct efficacy. [Renshen, Guixin, and Banxia each 1 qian, Gancao 0.5 qian, decocted with ginger. Renshen tonifies Yuan Qi, Guixin calms Liver Qi, ginger-processed Banxia dispels Phlegm, and Gancao harmonizes the Spleen and Stomach; no Qi-moving herbs are used. The name "Siqi" implies that these four ingredients treat the Seven Emotions.]
(From *Yan Shi Ji Sheng Fang*) Also treats invasion by the Seven Emotions, composed of Renshen, Wuyao (Tso-o Wood), Binglang (Arecae Semen), and Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum). [Equal parts of Renshen, Wuyao, Binglang, and Chenxiang. Since Qi rebels upward, Wuyao and Binglang are used to descend and smooth the Qi. Renshen is added to prevent damage to Zheng Qi.] Grind thickly and decoct for oral administration to regulate rebellious Qi; in Excess patterns, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) replaces Renshen. Remove Renshen and add Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) to create Wumo Yinzi (Five-Monk Decoction), taken with Baijiu (White Wine). [Taken with white wine to treat sudden collapse due to violent anger, known as Qi Jue (Qi Syncope).]
Zhang Zhongjing uses Renshen, Banxia, Gancao, Shengjiang, and Dazao together with Zheshi (Hematitum). [Zheshi 1 liang, Renshen 2 liang, Xuanfuhua (Inulae Flos) and Gancao each 3 liang, Banxia half sheng, Shengjiang 5 liang, Dazao 12 pieces. The salty nature of Xuanfuhua softens hardness; the heavy nature of Zheshi anchors rebellious Qi; the pungent nature of Shengjiang and Banxia disperses deficiency-type fullness; the sweet nature of Renshen, Gancao, and Dazao tonifies Spleen-Stomach weakness.]
(Xiangfu Cyperi Rhizoma, Ganjiang Zingiberis Rhizoma, Zisu Perillae Folium, Chenpi Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium.) Wuyao relieves constraint and alleviates pain; when Qi moves, Blood flows freely, and the meridians harmonize naturally. [Xiangfu 8 qian, Wuyao 2 qian, Chenpi and Zisu each 1 qian, Ganjiang 0.5 qian; take 5-6 qian per dose. Wuyao and Chenpi enter the Qi level to regulate Qi; Xiangfu and Zisu enter the Blood level to promote Qi circulation; Ganjiang enters both Qi and Blood levels. Using pungent-warm properties to smooth Qi and calm the Liver: when Qi moves, Blood moves, meridians become regulated, and pain ceases.]
