(The pulse presents in five colors: yellow, red, green/cyan, purple, and black.)
Discussion states: Yellow without distinct form indicates a pulse of peace and health; red without distinct form also indicates a tranquil pulse. If the aforementioned forms are present, it is a pathological pulse that changes sequentially. Initially appearing as a single dot, if the color is predominantly red at the Qi Gate (Qi Guan), upon reaching the Wind Gate (Feng Guan), the color changes to purple, indicating the disease has transmitted deeper. Green/Cyan indicates the pathogen has reached its extreme. Black indicates critical danger. Pure black clearly visible is incurable. In children over three years old, with severe and critical illness, the fingernails, mouth, and nose often turn black. This is because the child's pulse is absent, spirit is exhausted, and symptoms are malignant and adverse; even with excellent medicines and prescriptions, the child's life cannot be saved.
Discussion states: Carefully examining the Finger Vein Pulse Rhyme and verifying various schools' records, comparing their principles, reveals differing theories. Therefore, the texts of Qian Yi (Qian Shi) and Wang Yinkun (Wang Shi) do not comprehensively cover all aspects but only discuss symptoms. However, for pediatric diseases, what is the purpose of diagnosing without observing the finger veins? I have paid close attention to this and found their descriptions of vein patterns insufficient. Thus, I have referenced the strengths of various schools, compared previous judgments like a tortoise shell mirror for truth, ensuring purity and credibility. Hence, I have made definitive conclusions without needing repeated deliberation. This approach is subtle yet comprehensive, offering direct guidance to wise practitioners. Further examination will surely be beneficial. Do not dismiss this as mere limited insight.
Discussion states: "Liuzhu" (Flowing Pearl) appears as a single red dot encircling the pearl, resembling fire in shape. "Changzhu" (Long Pearl) is round and elongated. These above are not circles but generally represent red pulses penetrating the Qi Gate. "Laishé" (Incoming Snake) refers to a scattered Long Pearl, wide at one end and pointed at the other; "Quishé" (Outgoing Snake) is similar, distinguishing upper and lower parts, hence called Incoming and Outgoing. "Jiaogongfanzhang" (Opisthotonos) shape: inward-facing is favorable, outward-facing is adverse. "Qiangxing" (Spear Shape) goes straight up. "Yugufenkai" (Fish Bone Separation). "Shuizi" (Water Character) indicates three parallel pulses. "Zhenxing" (Needle Shape) passes through one or two grains of rice width. "Shejiamingmai" (Penetrating Nail Life Vessel) penetrates outward through the finger. "Mingmai" (Life Vessel) curves inward across thirteen positions, each having varying degrees of severity. Originally, all stem from one Qi, progressing from subtle to manifest, from gradual to total. Comparing severity: as stated previously, the five colors are Yellow, Red, Purple, Green/Cyan, and Black. As the disease intensifies, the color changes. Progressing further, exceeding Yellow and Red, excessive Red turns Purple, presenting a Red-Purple hue; excessive Purple turns Green/Cyan, presenting a Purple-Green hue; excessive Green/Cyan turns Black, presenting a Green-Black hue. As for pure Black, it is incurable.
