是法以仲圣白虎汤为主,治其三焦之温热也。连翘、洋参,清上焦之热以保津;膏、甘、粳米,清中焦之热以养胃;
Treats conditions of warm disease with no sweating, warm malaria with thirst and excessive drinking, and the internal entrapment of pathogenic factors from winter-warmth.
Fresh Reed Rhizome (Wugqian) [5 qian], Raw Gypsum (Liuqian) [6 qian], Forsythia Fruit (Sanqian) [3 qian], Bamboo Leaf (Yiqianwufen) [1.5 qian], Fermented Soybean (Sanqian) [3 qian], Mung Bean Coat (Sanqian) [3 qian]. Decoct in water and take orally.
This is the principal formula for treating warm disease with no sweating. Although latent qi diseases do not necessarily arise from being triggered by wind-cold, they are still divided into those with sweating and those without. For those without sweating, it is appropriate to vent the pathogenic factor; for those with sweating, it is appropriate to preserve body fluids. This is an established principle. Most cooling agents are cooling but lack the ability to vent; only this method is both cooling and venting. The hollow nature of Reed Rhizome allows it to vent pathogens; the light aroma of Gypsum allows it to vent pathogens; the ascending and floating nature of Forsythia Fruit, the fact that Bamboo Leaves grow on branches, the dispersing and resolving action of Fermented Soybean, and the light and clear quality of Mung Bean Coat all possess the function of venting pathogens. Once the latent pathogen is vented, slight sweating occurs, and the warm-heat naturally dissipates and resolves.
Treats conditions of warm-heat disease with sweating, wind-heat transforming into fire, heat disease damaging body fluids, and black coating on the tongue due to warm malaria.
Forsythia Fruit (Sanqian) [3 qian], Trichosanthes Root (Erqian) [2 qian], Fresh Dendrobium Stem (Sanqian) [3 qian], Fresh Rehmannia Root (Siqian) [4 qian], Ophiopogon Tuber (Siqian, remove heart) [4 qian], Ginseng Leaf (Bafen) [0.8 fen]. Decoct in water and take orally.
This is the principal formula for treating warm-heat disease with sweating. Excessive sweating is caused by steaming from interior heat, raising concern about damage to body fluids and yin. Therefore, Forsythia Fruit and Trichosanthes Root are used to clear heat in the upper and middle jiao; Fresh Dendrobium Stem and Fresh Rehmannia Root are used to protect yin in the middle and lower jiao; Ophiopogon Tuber clears heat and relieves irritability; Ginseng Leaf generates fluids and descends fire.
Treats three-jiao warm-heat, characterized by a flooding and rapid pulse, fever, thirst, delirium, and mental confusion.
Forsythia Fruit (Siqian) [4 qian], American Ginseng (Erqian) [2 qian], Raw Gypsum (Wuqian) [5 qian], Licorice Root (Bafen) [0.8 fen], Anemarrhena Rhizome (Erqian, stir-fried with salt water) [2 qian], Fresh Rehmannia Root (Wuqian) [5 qian]. Add a pinch of Coix Seed (Jingmi) [rice grain], decoct and take orally.
This method takes Zhang Zhongjing's Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) as the main formula to treat warm-heat in the three jiao. Forsythia Fruit and American Ginseng clear heat in the upper jiao to preserve body fluids; Raw Gypsum, Licorice Root, and Coix Seed clear heat in the middle jiao to nourish stomach qi; Anemarrhena Rhizome and Fresh Rehmannia Root purge heat in the lower jiao to nourish yin.
