Treatment for severe pain in Renmian Chuang (Human-faced Carbuncle):
Apply slices of lean pork to the affected area.
Another Prescription:
Grind Chuanbeimu (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus) into powder and instill it into the wound using a small reed tube. It will heal within a few days.
Method for treating Siren Renmian Chuang (Dead Human-faced Carbuncle) (from *Qixuan*):
Although the carbuncle possesses human facial features (eyes, nose, mouth), it cannot move or eat, hence the name "Dead Human-faced Carbuncle." One must wait until a funeral occurs where coffin nails are being hammered in. Strike a nail once with an axe, then gently tap the carbuncle with a finger. If the patient is male, use a woman's hand to press; if female, use a man's hand. While tapping, ask the patient, "Has the carbuncle healed?" The patient should reply, "It has healed, it has healed." When the sound of hammering stops, the healing process ceases, and the carbuncle is cured.
Shen Douyuan stated: Guchao Ju (Bone-channel Carbuncle) arises on the upper knee and the dorsum of the foot. The wrist pain feels like knife-cutting, and itching feels like insect drilling. Urgently apply moxibustion (three to five moxa cones) directly on the carbuncle. The treatment is the same as for Fugu Ju (Carbuncle adhering to bone). (From *Qixuan*).
*Xinfa* states: Futu Ju (Futu Carbuncle) occurs at the acupoint of the Stomach Meridian, located six cun above the midpoint of the knee, specifically at the site of the prominent muscle mass resembling the size of a palm when pressed firmly. Acupuncture and moxibustion are contraindicated for this carbuncle. If symptoms include alternating chills and fever with heart-piercing pain, it is caused by stagnation of stomach fire and toxicity. After ulceration, it is extremely difficult for the wound to contract and heal.
*Xinfa* states: Xiashi Ju (Lower Stone Scrofula) arises between the knees; it can occur on the kneecap or its left and right sides. It is hard as stone, causing pulling pain in the tendons. The swelling is the size of a chicken egg, the skin color remains unchanged, and there is no heat sensation. It is difficult to resolve, difficult to suppurate, and difficult to granulate. In this condition, both the swelling and the ulcerated area remain cold. Only if the cold transforms into heat and favorable signs appear does the prognosis become auspicious; otherwise, recovery is difficult.
