Empirical Prescription: Administer pure sesame oil (Sesamum indicum oil) for internal consumption, and externally wash the wound with sesame oil.
Another prescription: Crush fresh pine branches to obtain several dou of juice, drink it frequently, and apply the dregs to the bite site, changing them frequently for effective results.
Poison and pain from bear or tiger claw and tooth injuries: Burn blue cloth to fumigate the wound, allowing the poison to exit. Then, boil kudzu root (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) juice until concentrated and use it to wash the wound, ten times a day. Additionally, crush kudzu root juice and take one cun-bi (a traditional Chinese measuring spoon) mixed in liquid, five times daily; for severe cases, add two doses at night.
Another prescription: Chew chestnut and apply topically.
Another prescription: Boil pig iron until it has a distinct odor/taste, and use it to wash the wound.
Another prescription:
Realgar (Realgar), Sulfur (Sulfur), Purple Quartz Crystal (Quartzum Rubrum) (equal parts)
Grind together into a fine powder and apply externally.
Snake Bite
Chen Yuan Gong stated: When a person is bitten by a snake, regardless of whether the injury is on the upper or lower body, if the abdomen becomes distended like a winnowing basket and no rescue is provided within three days, the toxic qi will attack the heart leading to death. Snakes are yin entities, and their bites are extremely poisonous. Treatment should focus primarily on detoxification. However, snake venom is considered "yin poison." If treated with methods for "yang poison," the toxicity will intensify. Therefore, one must use herbs that resolve poison within the yin aspect, following its nature to neutralize it. Detoxifying Powder (Qudu San): Use Angelica dahurica (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Violae Herba (Viola Yedoensis), Taraxaci Herba (Taraxacum Mongolicum), and Prunellae Spica (Prunella Vulgaris), each 2 liang; raw licorice root (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 5 qian; and alum (Alumen) 3 qian. Decoct in water and administer orally. After one dose, swelling subsides; after two doses, toxins are expelled through urination and defecation; after three doses, full recovery occurs. (From *Bing Jian*. Although Angelica dahurica is a herb of the yang aspect, when combined with Prunella spica, its yang nature transforms into yin. Viola, Taraxacum, licorice, and alum all possess detoxifying properties and belong to the yin category. The transformation of yin energy facilitates the resolution of yin poison, making efficacy easier to achieve. This assists Angelica dahurica in directly attacking the snake venom without leaving residual harm. One might ask: if yang-aspect herbs should not be used for resolving snake venom, why is Angelica dahurica included? It is unknown that snake venom cannot be eliminated without Angelica dahurica. The ineffectiveness seen in some cases is due to improper usage by people. Now, when used within the context of yin-aspect herbs, it is invariably effective. How can one discard Angelica dahurica and thereby fail? Another question arises: Realgar also counteracts snake venom; why is it not used? It is unknown that Angelica dahurica contains yin within yang, unlike realgar which is purely yang. Realgar can achieve miraculous results when applied externally, but often causes failure when taken internally. In contrast, using Angelica dahurica within the yin-aspect framework allows for complete therapeutic success.) All snakes are poisonous, but the earth viper (Tu Hui She) is the most toxic. If a bite is not treated urgently, death will ensue. If a snake accidentally enters human orifices, immediately prick its tail with a needle; after two or three pricks, it will naturally retract. *Dan Xin* states: To counteract snake venom, use realgar powder mixed with ginseng decoction (*Ren Shen Tang*) for administration. *Ben Cao Gang Mu* states: If a person is suddenly wrapped by a snake and cannot break free, pour hot water over it; if hot water is unavailable, have someone urinate on it, and the snake will release its grip. For any venomous snake bite, prick the wound with a needle to induce bleeding, and tie the proximal and distal ends of the limb with a rope. Soak the area in a cesspit to prevent the poison from spreading inward. If the poison spreads causing swelling and pain, fumigate the area with burning paper twigs soaked in sesame oil, then administer one qian of Detoxifying Zijin Dan (Purple Gold Pill), ground in wine and taken as a liquid.
