Lai Pi Feng (Scaly Skin Leprosy)
Symptoms resemble swine mange. Dense rashes appear, affecting both ears and face. The skin on hands and feet becomes ulcerated and broken; eyebrows and hair become sparse. Scratching causes skin flakes to fly off. The body is emaciated and weak. For mild cases, use Soufeng San (Wind-Searching Powder); for severe cases, use Jili San (Tribulus Powder). This is Hansen's disease (Leprosy).
Niu Pi Feng (Cow Skin Leprosy)
The skin is broken and pale in color. Scratching feels like rough bamboo husk. There is a loss of pain and itch sensation. The complexion resembles cowhide, with a sallow-yellow hue. Hands and feet are emaciated. For mild cases, use Jili San (Tribulus Powder); for severe cases, it is incurable. This is Hansen's disease (Leprosy).
She Pi Feng (Snake Skin Leprosy)
The body skin resembles snake scales. Feet have ulcerations, appearing red mixed with black. The body is emaciated. Hands and feet are numb. There is also excessive phlegm and coughing. For mild cases, use Jili San (Tribulus Powder); for severe cases, it is incurable. Alternatively, this condition may result from poisoning due to ingesting food contaminated by snake venom. This is Hansen's disease (Leprosy).
Niu Ti Feng (Cow Hoof Leprosy)
Wind-induced itching persists for many years, leading to the shedding of all ten fingers. Tendons and bones are damaged, resembling cow hooves. It is incurable. This is Hansen's disease (Leprosy). This state results from missed treatment or incorrect treatment. One must be cautious.
Ji Zhua Feng (Chicken Claw Convulsion/Leprosy)
After suffering from the disease for many years, blood fails to nourish the tendons, resulting in numbness and insensitivity. The ten fingers curl into claws, resembling chicken claws. Treat primarily with Jili San (Tribulus Powder). This appears to be leprosy but is not true leprosy. This condition arises from missed treatment or incorrect treatment. Follow the treatments described in the book.
Mian You Feng (Wandering Facial Lepra)
The face feels as if insects are crawling on it, yet wiping reveals nothing. The body feels as if bitten by lice, yet searching finds no source. Gradually, numbness sets in, accompanied by slightly reddened patches. This is the root cause of major leprosy. Treat with Soufeng San (Wind-Searching Powder). This is not Hansen's disease. If treated incorrectly or neglected, it will develop into Hansen's disease.
Jin Qian Feng (Coin-Shaped Lepra)
Red rings appear, sized like coins, with a red interior and white exterior. The area is numb and insensible, or alternatively painful and itchy. This condition is common in women, often triggered by dampness invasion during menstruation or by menstrual blood stagnating in the skin. Treat with Goubao Dan (Dog Gallstone Pill). This is not Hansen's disease. Treat urgently early on to prevent progression to leprosy.
