针对阳明经的病症,使用竹叶石膏汤(Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum Decoction)合知母葛根汤(Anemarrhena and Kudzu Root Decoction)。

[Symptoms of Insomnia due to Half-Exterior/Half-Interior Pathogen] In Taiyang disease (disease pattern caused by pathogenic invasion of the Taiyang channel), occurring after two or three days, if one cannot sleep, with a sensation of closure and stagnation in the epigastrium, and after undergoing sweating, vomiting, or purging therapies, experiencing restlessness and tossing and turning with mental vexation and regretfulness, this indicates heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Taiyang channel. Dryness of the throat and mouth, fever with sweating, irritability, and insomnia indicate heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Yangming channel. Alternating chills and fever (alternating cold and heat), bitter fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, mental vexation, frequent desire to vomit, and inability to sleep indicate heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Shaoyang channel.
[Etiology of Insomnia due to Half-Exterior/Half-Interior Pathogen] Exterior pathogens transmit inward; however, the interior does not accept the pathogen. The pathogen contends with the heart and chest qi, lodging in the half-exterior/half-interior region, causing mental vexation, regretfulness, and nausea.
[Pulse Diagnosis of Insomnia due to Half-Exterior/Half-Interior Pathogen] A rapid and large pulse at the left Guan position extending down to the Chi position indicates heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Taiyang channel. A solitary wiry pulse at the left Guan position indicates heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Shaoyang channel. A solitary large pulse at the right Guan position, palpable on both superficial and deep pressure, indicates heat in the half-exterior/half-interior region of the Yangming channel.
[Therapeutic Principles for Insomnia due to Half-Exterior/Half-Interior Pathogen] For Taiyang channel disorders, use Qiang Huo Chong He Tang (Notopterygium Harmonizing Decoction). For Shaoyang channel disorders, combine Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) with Zhi Zi Dou Chi Tang (Gardenia and Fermented Soybean Decoction). For Yangming channel disorders, combine Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang (Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum Decoction) with Zhi Mu Ge Gen Tang (Anemarrhena and Kudzu Root Decoction).

[Symptoms of Insomnia due to Blood Heat] During the day, consciousness is clear and normal; at night, fever occurs, accompanied by nocturnal sweating during sleep, mental vexation, and waking up startled. These are symptoms of latent pathogenic heat in the blood level.
[Etiology of Insomnia due to Blood Heat] When yang pathogens sink into the blood level, yin is overcome by yang. This is precisely what is meant by latent fire in the blood, causing instability in the yin aspect, thereby leading to these conditions.
[Pulse Diagnosis of Insomnia due to Blood Heat] The pulse is mostly deep and rapid. A deep and rapid pulse at the left Guan position indicates Shaoyang blood heat; a deep and rapid pulse at the left Chi position indicates Taiyang blood heat; a deep and rapid pulse at the right Guan position... [Text cuts off here].
[Therapeutic Principles for Insomnia due to Blood Heat] To clear latent fire within the yin, Master Danxi recommends Zhi Bai Si Wu Tang (Anemarrhena and Phellodendron Four Substances Decoction). If the left Chi pulse is deep and rapid, add Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) and Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix). If the left Guan pulse is deep and rapid, add Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Shan Zhi (Gardeniae Fructus). If the right Guan pulse is deep and rapid, add Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix). For nocturnal sweating and frequent startle awakening during sleep, use Dang Gui Liu Huang Tang.
Zhi Bai Si Wu Tang consists of Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) plus Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) and Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma).
