甘梗汤 治喉痛，并声音不出。
桔梗（二两，去头） 甘草（一两，略煨） 荆芥（五钱，去梗取穗） 每服四钱，生姜三
片引。
海上方 治喉生疮声哑。
白硼砂（一钱） 孩儿茶（一钱） 蒲黄（六分） 青黛（一钱） 牙硝（六分） 枯矾（六分）
片脑（二厘） 黄连（五分） 滑石（一钱） 黄柏（五分） 寒水石（一钱）
共为末，以苇筒吹末入喉，立效。
大温丸 治口舌生疮，服诸凉药不效者。
大附子（童便煮一炷香） 人参（去芦，三分） 桔梗（一钱，去头） 生地黄（一钱） 蛤粉
（五分） 玄参（七分） 升麻（四分）
上七味，共为细末，炼蜜为丸，金箔为衣，薄荷汤下，神效。
喉痹，语音不出，用李实根皮一片，噙口，更李根皮水搽项一周候。
喉痛，用倒滴刺根净汁入些好酒，同研滴入喉中，痛立止。
又方 用猪牙皂为末，和霜梅噙之。
又方 用茜草根一两，作一服，能降血中之火。
中气咽闭，急用白僵蚕捣筛为末，生姜自然汁调，下喉立愈。（僵蚕属火，而有土与木
老得金气而僵，治喉，取其火中清化之气，以从治散结滞之痰。）
喉痹，取蛴螬虫汁，点在喉中，下咽即开。
咽肿，用土牛膝捣自然汁，和醋服。（《本草》云∶土牛膝主血结及血块。）
急喉痹，其声如劓，痰在喉响，此为肺绝之候。急煎独参汤救之，服早者十全七八，次
则十全四五，迟则十不全一也。
咽喉痛用诸药不效者，此非咽痛，乃是鼻中生一条红线如发，悬一黑泡，大如缨珠，垂
挂到咽门而止，口中饮食不入。须用牛膝直根而独条者，洗净入好醋三五滴，咽入则丝断
珠破，其病立安。
喉风牙关紧闭，用焰硝（一钱五分）、硼砂（五分）、脑子（二厘半）、白僵蚕（二厘），共为
末，以竹管吹五分，入喉立愈。
甘梗汤：治疗咽喉疼痛，以及声音嘶哑或失音。
桔梗（二两，去除头部），甘草（一两，轻微煨制），荆芥（五钱，去除茎秆只取花穗）。每次服用四钱，用生姜三片作为药引。
海上方：治疗咽喉生疮导致的声音嘶哑。
白硼砂（一钱），孩儿茶（一钱），蒲黄（六分），青黛（一钱），牙硝（六分），枯矾（六分），片脑（即冰片，二厘），黄连（五分），滑石（一钱），黄柏（五分），寒水石（一钱）。
将以上药物共同研磨成细末，用芦苇管将药粉吹入咽喉，立即见效。
大温丸：治疗口舌生疮，且服用各种清热凉药无效的情况。
大附子（用童子小便煮至燃尽一炷香的时间），人参（去除芦头，三分），桔梗（一钱，去除头部），生地黄（一钱），蛤粉（五分），玄参（七分），升麻（四分）。
以上七味药，共同研磨成细末，用炼蜜制成丸剂，以金箔为衣，用薄荷汤送服，效果神奇。
治疗喉痹（咽喉肿痛闭塞），声音发不出，取李树根皮一片，含在口中，再用李根皮的水擦拭颈部周围一圈。
治疗咽喉痛，取倒钩刺树的根部纯净汁液，加入少许好酒，一同研磨后滴入咽喉中，疼痛立即停止。
又一方：用茜草根一两，作为一次服用的剂量，能够降泄血中的火热之邪。
中气闭塞导致咽喉阻塞，紧急时用白僵蚕捣碎筛成粉末，用生姜自然汁调匀，吞服后喉咙立愈。（僵蚕属火性，但因土与木老化而得金气从而僵硬，治疗咽喉疾病，是取其火中清化之气，以“从治”法消散凝结阻滞的痰浊。）
喉痹，取蛴螬（金龟子幼虫）的汁液，点入咽喉中，吞咽后即通畅。
咽部肿胀，用土牛膝捣取自然汁，与醋混合服用。（《本草》记载：土牛膝主治血结及血块。）
急喉痹，声音像被割断一样微弱，痰液在喉间作响，这是肺气将绝的征候。紧急煎煮独参汤来抢救，服药早者十分之七八可痊愈，稍晚者十分之四五可痊愈，服药太迟者则十人无一能救活。
咽喉疼痛使用各种药物均无效者，这并非普通的咽喉痛，而是鼻中生出一条如头发般的红线，悬挂着一个黑泡，大小如缨珠，垂挂到咽门为止，导致口中饮食无法进入。必须选用笔直且单独的一条牛膝根，洗净后加入好醋三五滴，咽下后红线断裂、黑泡破裂，病情立即安定。
喉风导致牙关紧闭，用焰硝（一钱五分）、硼砂（五分）、脑子（即冰片，二厘半）、白僵蚕（二厘），共同研成粉末，用竹管吹入五分药粉，进入咽喉后立即痊愈。
Gan Geng Tang (Licorice and Platycodon Decoction): Treats throat pain and aphonia (loss of voice).
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 2 liang, remove the head), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, slightly roasted), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 5 qian, remove stems and use only the flower spikes). Take 4 qian per dose, with 3 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) as a guide.
Haishang Fang (Formula from the Sea Top): Treats throat sores causing hoarseness.
Baipengsha (Borax, 1 qian), Haiercha (Catechu, 1 qian), Puhuang (Pollinis Typhae, 6 fen), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 1 qian), Yaxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 6 fen), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum, 6 fen), Pian Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 2 li), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 5 fen), Huashi (Talcum, 1 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 5 fen), Hanshuishi (Aqua Marina, 1 qian).
Grind all into fine powder. Use a reed tube to blow the powder into the throat for immediate effect.
Da Wen Wan (Great Warming Pill): Treats mouth and tongue ulcers when various cooling medicines have failed.
Da Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, boiled in urine of a young boy until one incense stick is consumed), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, remove rhizome, 3 fen), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 1 qian, remove the head), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 1 qian), Gafen (Calamina, 5 fen), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 7 fen), Shengma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 4 fen).
The above seven ingredients are ground into fine powder, formed into pills with refined honey, coated with Jinbo (Gold Leaf), and taken down with Bohe Tang (Menthae Haplocalycis Decoction). The effect is miraculous.
For Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction/Angina), where voice cannot be produced: Take a piece of Li Shigenpi (Pruni Mume Radicis Cortex), hold it in the mouth. Then, wipe the circumference of the neck with water decocted from Li Genpi (Pruni Radicis Cortex).
For throat pain: Extract pure juice from the roots of Dao Di Ci (a thorny plant), mix with a little good wine, grind together, and drip into the throat. Pain stops immediately.
Another prescription: Grind Zhu Ya Zao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina) into powder, and hold it in the mouth with Shuang Mei (Frost Plum).
Another prescription: Use Qian Cao Gen (Rubiae Cordifoliae Radix), 1 liang, as a single dose. It can descend fire from the blood.
Zhong Qi Yan Bi (Obstruction of Throat due to Middle Qi Stagnation): Urgently grind Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) into powder, mix with natural juice of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and swallow. The throat heals immediately. (Jiangcan belongs to Fire, but obtains Metal Qi through aging in Earth and Wood, becoming stiff. In treating the throat, its clearing and transforming Qi within Fire is utilized to treat according to similarity [Cong Zhi], dispersing stagnant phlegm.)
Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction): Take juice from Xicao (Larva Scarabaei), apply drops into the throat. Swallowing opens the passage immediately.
Yan Zhong (Swollen Pharynx): Crush Tu Niuxi (Cyathulae Radix) to obtain natural juice, mix with vinegar, and take orally. (Ben Cao states: Tu Niuxi treats blood stasis and blood masses.)
Ji Hou Bi (Acute Throat Obstruction): The voice sounds like it has been severed, phlegm rattles in the throat. This is a sign of Lung Qi Exhaustion. Urgently decoct Du Shen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction) to save the patient. Those who take it early have 70-80% recovery rate; those later have 40-50%; those too late have less than 10% survival.
When throat pain does not respond to various medicines, this is not ordinary throat pain. It is caused by a red line like a hair growing in the nose, suspending a black blister the size of a tassel bead, hanging down to the throat gate, preventing food and drink from entering the mouth. One must select a straight, single-rooted Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), wash it clean, add 3-5 drops of good vinegar, and swallow. The red line breaks, the blister bursts, and the illness settles immediately.
Hou Feng (Throat Wind) with locked jaw: Use Yan Xiao (Natrii Nitras, 1.5 qian), Pengsha (Borax, 5 fen), Naozi (Borneolum, 2.5 li), Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 2 li). Grind into powder. Blow 5 fen into the throat using a bamboo tube for immediate cure.
