Lei Gong Zhen Jun (Deified Lord Lei Gong) said: There are cases where a person suddenly suffers from Jue syndrome (a condition characterized by cold extremities and loss of consciousness), is unable to speak, has closed eyes and relaxed hands, produces snoring sounds in the throat, and has excessive phlegm-qi. Some may die within one day, while others may die after two or three days. This type of Jue syndrome often affects the Shen Ming (Spirit/Mind), but it also originates from pre-existing phlegm accumulation that triggers the attack. The treatment method should naturally focus on attacking phlegm as the priority; however, merely attacking phlegm without opening the heart orifices is futile. The prescription used is Qi Mi Dan (Enlightening the Confused Decoction): Raw Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) 5 qian, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 5 qian, Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 2 qian, Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) 1 liang, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 3 fen, Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) 3 qian, Zaoguanjia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina) 1 qian, Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. In this formula, both Renshen and Banxia are used in quantities of 5 qian, allowing for simultaneous expulsion of pathogenic factors and tonification of healthy qi, thereby facilitating the elimination of phlegm and restoration of qi. Particularly ingenious is the use of Tusizi as the sovereign herb, which raises the healthy qi and disperses the pathogenic qi. Even more ingenious is the use of Zaoguanjia, Shichangpu, and Fushen to open the heart orifices and clear the heart. Naturally, the qi will return and the Jue syndrome will subside. If one suspects that the Jue syndrome is due to heat and lightly employs cold-cooling herbs, one will be far from survival. Banxia should be used raw rather than processed because its raw nature possesses vital energy to rescue life from death; furthermore, if processed too thoroughly, it becomes overly cooked, which hinders the timeliness of the effect and prevents it from achieving its therapeutic goal. As for other types of Jue syndrome, the new determinations by Qi Tian Shi (the Heavenly Master Qibo/Huangdi) can be verified in the *Neijing* (Inner Canon). The Jue syndrome associated with Shanghan (Cold Damage) is recorded by Zhang Zhongjing in the Shanghan section and can be consulted there, so it is not repeated here.
Lei Gong Zhen Jun said: There are cases where a person experiences fever followed immediately by coldness of the body, with macules and papules appearing all over the body like rashes. This occurs because fire pathogens attempt to vent outward from the interior but cannot fully dissipate through the skin, leading to stagnation and the formation of macules. People generally assume this is a heat syndrome and use cold-cooling herbs to purge fire, but these are ineffective. Deaths occur when macules fail to resolve. This is also a tragic outcome. It is treated with Xiao Ban Shen Xiao Tang (Eliminating Macules Miraculously Effective Decoction): Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) 1 liang, Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 1 liang, Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) 3 qian, Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) 1 qian, Baijiezi (Brassicae Semens Album) 3 qian, Shashen (Glehniae Radix) 3 qian, Danpi (Moutan Cortex) 5 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, the intensity of the macules decreases; after two doses, the macule patterns disperse; after three doses, all traces of macules vanish. The brilliance of this formula lies in the use of Xuanshen and Maidong to eliminate macules. Particularly ingenious is the heavy use of Shengma to guide Xuanshen and Maidong into the skin, enabling the group of herbs to achieve their effects easily. Consequently, the macules will inevitably disappear.
